Re: “Danehy

Very interesting point about calculus. That branch of mathematics is based upon the concept of a limit to infinities. Islam as we are seeing it in practice cannot abide the idea of a limit!

Re: “Danehy

The name change insults the intelligence of the residents of Tucson. It is, and has been known for well over twenty years that the school has no religious affiliation. The School has gone from a fine academic institution for the affluent to a dismal academic institution for the affluent. The college prep designation needed to be removed. The tuition continues to go up and the quality of education in the high school continues to deteriorate. The part of the mission statement mentioning educating the whole child is only there to make the school appear different from the public schools. Do they educate the whole child? Maybe, but only if the child fits into a set criteria. The amount of tuition paid is directly related to how much of the "whole child" is educated. The parade, in and out, of headmasters and faculty in the past ten years is indicative of the lack of direction of the school. Perhaps, the monies spent to change the letterheads, signs, vans, uniforms could have been spent better finding a new leader and an entire staff of teachers who want to work to educate the students.

Re: “Danehy

You would think a former flower child would know the difference. Another stooge who feels that anyone who doesn't like Obummer is an automatic racist. I'd rather pump gas than sit on my ass and live off the Government.

Chump in Chief, Hah! Since Daisy face is obviously referring to the Commander in Chief I guess he thinks that all the "Chumps" he is chief of, like the brave souls risking their lives on behalf of his chump self, don't deserve the respect that his elected self deserves. This is a good example of "Tea speak", defined as saying something moronic as if it is clever. Take your burning cross back to Ferguson and get your gas station job back. The only math you will need is how many gallons in the tank missy?

Re: “Danehy

Well, here's something that may shed some light on the subject:

Shihab ud-Din ar-Ramliyy ash-Shafi^iyy, in his famous fatawa, said: "Rather than accepting calculations, the Prophet, who followed Allah's Revelation, completely omitted them by saying: >" He said in Sharh al-Minhaj: "Our companions (i.e., the Shafi^iyys) said according to what is authentic, the beginning of Ramadan is not confirmed by the calculations of those who calculate--even if they were trustworthy. The companions of AbuHanifah unanimously agree on that."

Crazy stuff, I know. But this is part of the reason that there are so few Muslims winning Nobel Prizes.

The Chump in Chief is too busy relating murdering psycho-maniac Islamic Nazis and marauding Russian Communists to Ferguson Missouri to do the math.

Re: “Danehy

ISIS wants to ban everything so there is nothing to do or think about except the war, or, the meaning of their life.

Re: “Danehy

Banning math makes no sense, in particular because of the many great contributes of Arab/Islamic mathematicians to the field (not just algebra). Just look at the number of math terms that are rooted in Arabic. A sure sign these folks are nuts. It also never ceases to amaze me of the crazies that want nothing to do with the 'modern' world, but don't seem to mind things like modern armaments.

Re: “Danehy

Frank Antenori was defeated because of his radical views and bills he passed. So why are you even talking with Frank. Guess your not looking for votes from the people. Frank is an extreme radical and AZ doesn't need anymore. We need law makers who make real laws in AZ. And not laws created by ALEC. Voters get smart of the politicians, The Tea Party and Republicans have nothing new to offer but more extreme messages and bills. They are the real ISIS we in the USA have to fight against.

Re: “Danehy

And no comment about the atrocious behavior of the big league players who have the institutional protections that dismiss, ignore or downplay domestic violence, child abuse , rape and murder. Not all players are like that but there is a thug, gangster, macho, mysoginist mentality that perservers in sports. Has Tom even noticed?

Re: “Danehy

Pro sports are boring. It's all about ridiculous salaries and big profits. Football is too violent. The players are damaged for life, driven by their greed. Perhaps they think they will quit before their brains are scrambled.
It's fine to play sports, other than football...and soccer seems innane to me...but why spend your money on watching sports? Dumb! Spend your time doing something useful.

Baseball, basketball, hockey, football all have to shorten their seasons if they are to survive.
These almost year round seasons are driving people away in droves.
I gave up on pro sports years ago.

Re: “Danehy

I don't know where to begin other than to say this is a great example of Tom's general propensity for negativity and overstatement. To say that the school has "never" been mistaken for a religious institution is both an over application of the universal "never" and is simply untrue. I teach at The Gregory School and 90% of the time people ask me if it's Catholic or wonder what it's like to teach at a Christian school. TGS has been secular since 1987 when the school parted ways with the Episcopal church. So if we are hiding from religion as one of the commenters said we are, we have been doing so for 27 years. As for 100% of our community not liking the change or simply not engaging, again Tom has his facts wrong. Of course there will never be 100% agreement but the most progressive alum and students understand this as a necessary, well informed, and deeply considered marketing decision. The name Gregory is well known, well respected, and well loved in the community and we knew we wanted to keep that esteemed association in our name, but, in the competitive educational marketplace in Tucson, we just couldn't afford to have potential families believe us to be anything other than what we are -- THE best academic AND college preparatory high school AND whole child 5-8 middle school in Tucson. So THE Gregory School we have become. Same great teachers, students, coaches, and parents just a slightly, more accurate, name. I know Tom needs to critique or he'd be out of a job, but this time the critique is inaccurate, off-base, and inaccurate.
