Re: “Soundbites

I feel Dan's pain! As a huge fan of alt-country, Americana, and all it's various sub-sub genres the Mumford and Son's, Lumineers wave has been a trainwreck. Still, O' Death is badass! Been rocking out to them for years now! Thanks for covering this show.

Re: “An Ethan Orr Supporter Sticks Up for His Candidate

Sorry, as a woman, I couldn't possibly vote for this guy given that he continues to relegate my sex to second class citizenry :(

Re: “An Ethan Orr Supporter Sticks Up for His Candidate

The voters of LD 9 speak next Tuesday. The results we live by for the next two years. Actions we may have to live with for years. Slight improvement or no improvement, that is the question. Putting the three candidates up for sharp comparison, Representative Victoria Steele, moderate, experienced legislator with a reasonable fiscal and social agenda certainly deserves our vote.

Representative Victoria Steele is a proven effective legislator who has earned
re- election. So that leaves our other choice.

Alright two choices standing. Ethan Orr certainly not the same as some in the Republican Party. Not a unrealistic right-wing ideologue, insanely voting to ruin state government functions to remold them at some future date along some different unknown course.

Ethan Orr has to be given credit for joining with the Democrats and Governor Brewer to expand healthcare for thousands of needy Arizonans. Not so good on protection of our citizens from gun violence or allowing women to make their own decisions in health matters. Overriding religious belief, sound medical background, or he just doesn't think women know their own bodies or trust their intellect?

We can't fault Ethan Orr for actions of the small group of tea party activist in control of the Republican legislative agenda, but lets face it, some things better left undone with no Governor's veto pen out what did Orr's presence as a Republican legislator accomplish for us?

What is this wait until 2020 for revamping the legislature? Why not start next Tuesday and build from there?

The other choice, Dr. Randy Friese. A total newcomer to the political scene, what does he bring to the table for us to compare and award our vote. A solid member of the community, well-educated University of Arizona trauma surgeon and Professor of Surgery, Navy Veteran from a humble background.

Dr. Friese raised by a single parent with limited financial means, product of a public education, a person with dedication to pull himself along that trail to adulthood. A person who has answered that call of conservatives, pull yourself up by your boot-straps make your way in the world, show us your stuff.

Well even the harshed conservative inclined would have to agree Dr. Friese has matched the qualification and his stuff is totally worth our vote. With no handicap of alliances within the ruling tea party GOP Legislature just that fresh freedom warrants our vote. Elect Dr. Randy Friese our second state representative.

Re: “Politico Names Barber-McSally Race One of The "Most Suspenseful House Races" of 2014

There really is a difference between the two parties. Republicans want to stick their noses in women's private places, end Social Security as we know it, end Obamacare, build pipelines through populated areas, give tax breaks to big business, and allow the American workforce to languish. Ms. McSally may be likeable, but as an R, the agenda she supports, is not one that is favorable to Arizonans or Americans.

Re: “An Ethan Orr Supporter Sticks Up for His Candidate

"Start the process of building a new Arizona where the tea party is no longer the dominant force"?

Do you still believe in the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, and Peter Pan?

Remove Ethan and the Tea Party is stronger because the moderate wing of the Republicans is weakened. The Arizona legislature is Republican. Period. No amount of hoping and wishing will change it this election. You can go close your eyes and clap your hands in fairy land while wiser voters protect Tucson's voice and actually walk the walk of weakening the Tea Party - and defending Tucson.

Hopefully I'm not the only Democrat who won't be a lemming.

Re: “9 Things for Last Minute Voters to Know

You have to be joking. You state,
"We're endorsing Democrats more or less across the board for the partisan races because we think the GOP's agenda for the state—more cuts to government, irresponsible fiscal strategies"... "doesn't bode well for the future."

The GOP (Republicans, right-wing ideologues) have an agenda? On every turn deliver government unable to function, starving to the point of havoc public agencies the funds they needed to operate. That was a plan?

Fighting the Legislative and Constitutional mandates approved by previous lawmakers and voters over many years with useless law suits resulting in a total waste of taxpayer funds. A fiscal strategy just irresponsible or totally insane?

Republicans, not the voters who happen to register in the party of fiscal conservatives, believers of laws and Constitutional protections of the rights of citizens. Not those Republicans, the few elected ones who join together to sell off our heritages, believe selling state property to give a few friends tax breaks, the ones who are silly enough to mortgage the free and clear State Capitol Buildings then renting the same buildings back is a fiscal strategy? How long a term fiscal strategy?

The people in state government who use the label Republican and think education is a play thing for speculators to fatten their bank accounts and who are willing to privatize government functions for a few greedy operators who can take advantage of stupid legislative policies or croneyism. There should be a way to chase them out of the Republican party except they are the Republican party in this state.

That was simply "irresponsible fiscal strategy" or stupidity? I don't take exception to your endorsements just the reasons. Bad judgement, wrong decisions, insane thought process, limited foresight, dumb actions, inept Republican leaders, simply,..."pushed under the rug, etc, etc".

Rebellion and common sense is coming to the Republican voters, two of the Republican incumbents holding state office were effectively kicked out in the Primary Election. Now close examination of some of the balance of Republican candidates before next Tuesday's election.

Tucson Weekly you didn't do bad there.

Re: “Papa John's Fritos Chili Pizza a Sure Sign of Our Impending Doom

Papa Johns guy answers phone: Hi, Papa Johns, will this be for delivery?

Average modern American 30ish dad sitting on his farted out couch, next to his nalgas grande wife who is constantly texting her nalgas grande girlfriend: Ya, delivery.

PJG: Sorry sir I can't hear you-

Dad: Hey you goddam kids, shut up and turn that Justin Bieber off! OK, can I get one of those frito pizzas with three times the cheese sauce, 2 orders of wings and a quart of ranch dressing on the side?

PJG: Yessir, that will be $29.95, be there in about 30 minutes.

Dad: OK thanks, and tell the delivery guy to watch out for my pitbulls.

Re: “9 Things for Last Minute Voters to Know

One way that electing Hicks and Campos-Fleenor would help me (as TW puts it) is that we could finally establish an internal auditor position that reports to the board, as many external experts have recommended for years. Recent events surely confirm that need, as district leadership still seems determined to underplay the size of the current operating deficit. (Incidentally, Putnam-Hidalgo and Cotton have also supported creating such an internal auditor, repeatedly and unambiguously.)

Re: “9 Things for Last Minute Voters to Know

This year residents of the Metro Water District in Tucson have an alternative choice to the incumbents and their third rate increase in three years. Please make an effort to vote to lower OUR water bills through greater accountability. Support Donovan Hemway, Danny Sargent, and Helen Ireland. OR
