Re: “Seth MacFarlane and His Peculiar Distaste For Tucson

They make fun of West Virginia all the time too and you don't see me complaining.

Family Guy makes fun of nearly everything. Nothing is sacred. Just take it with a grain of salt and forget about it.

Re: “The Never-Ending Scrutiny

Those silly Az politicians thinking will change, say around..election time when the unsuspected, but fast growing political might of those they are trying to "keep in line" through lack of education, suddenly find themselves the "minority"...live with it, it will happen, just a matter of time!

Education=power, all USA citizens should want to build our youth, not limit them!

Re: “A Delicate Balance

Excellent Asian fare. Wonderful curries and noodle dishes. I have tried Malaysian food in several major cities and it simply doesn't compare. The occasional service glitch is offset by the fantastic creative tasty food. Quite possibly the best Asian cusine in the state. Shouldn't be a well kept secret.
Rather a Tucson treasure...

Re: “The Skinny

The ACA no matter how you tweek it is a loser. Obama will veto everything because that is his baby.

I have to agree that Ducey is stupid to make blanket absolute proclamations. Mr. Governor you have disappointed me already. You are painting your self in a box just like Obama did.

Re: “Danehy

I posted a picture of me on my bike for years. After I sold it I changed it to my dog in his N.Y. Rangers jersey. As far as names go, years ago I sent a letter to the Red Star and my parents got flooded with nasty phone calls. My father and I have the first name. My number is unlisted, his isn't. At their age they don't need nasty calls from 'civil' liberals. Who cares? Obviously you do or you wouldn't have bothered to write. Too easy, Brother. Too easy.

So, Ricky, to be clear, are you arguing for or against the sick policies in place that allow sexual harassment of detainees?

Give the test to the incoming Legislators immediately. See if any pass.

Re: “Darkness Visible

I imagine that this thing will evaporate when they discover that there is a lot of unaccounted for union resources around election-time ( e.g. the " ground game") . Let's hope the dems think that they lost the Senate because there was some sinister financial force....and not because The chosen One and Harry Reid were inept.

Great! Thanks to Obama's sick border policy, America now not only gets the "Chinese hordes" coming over but the freaks and criminally inclined as well.

Hey cw 13...Brave soul! Don't sign your name and publish a picture of yourself.
Mouth off about folks likes and dislikes without comment. Who cares? Meaningless clicks, it's not the Gallup Poll!
I'll still read your comments and judge accordingly. Today's measure, dislike. Sign your name.

Re: “Arizona's Most Iconic Restaurant Is a Tucson Institution

Getting in on this late. I have some roots in this town, my mom came here (alone) as a 16-year-old in 1929. My parents met an married here in the 30s but my dad's wanderlust had them in San Diego when I was born, a few weeks before the outbreak of WWII. So they were stuck there until the end of the war, after which they returned to Tucson. (There's a good chance I was conceived here, so I consider myself a native.) Furthermore, I grew up on the southside, so I also consider myself a good judge of Mexican food.

That said, I've usually avoided El Charo, but a few times I've returned, often at the request of other people. The last time (and I do mean the LAST time) my late wife found ourselves downtown on a day when everything else was closed. So in desperation we stopped into El Charo.

As usual, it was a disaster. My wife's enchiladas came out cold. After an interminable wait for the waiter to stop grabassing one of the waitresses and come back to our table, we sent them back. So while I continued to eat, she waited. Then they came out again and once again they were cold. The third time they were delivered, they were hot, but by this time I was finished with my meal. So now she ate and I watched.

When the check came, I couldn't wait to get out there so I took it up to desk. The guy asked me, "How was everything, Sir?" I replied, "You don't want to know." He said, "Of course I want to know."

So I proceeded to unload on him. He listened to me then asked, "You from out of town, Sir?" I can only conclude that he felt that if I was he wasn't going to see me again, what did it matter. My thought is, why does it matter?

I replied, "No, I'm a Tucson native. I come here once every ten years or so to see if it's improved. It hasn't!" He wordlessly opened the drawer and handed me my money back.
