Re: “Two for One

That opens up some intriguing possibilities, TW Time Bandits. Could you take me back to the early '20s so I could meet Dora Carrington and Aldous Huxley at the same dinner party? Failing that, I'll take the early '60s so I can see Otis Redding live.

I loved this article! I felt my eyes tearing up...... jack is awesome and it hurts to know how he tortures himself over past events. Robby is amazing and all the current members of this group are freaking fantastic!!!
Dan McNay is the best bass player I have ever heard and their drummer is spot on!!!!

Re: “What Are They Smoking?

Wow Concerned Mom, I figure that your kids are stressing you out. Disappear for a few minutes in the comfort of your bedroom and light one up. Hopefully your attitude will improve.

Re: “Danehy

Of course Trump doesn't care about the workers. The same workers who felt abandoned by the Clinton Gang who as I recall left the White House as virtual paupers and today now are worth hundreds of millions. And Hillary's "band of Wall Street wizards and Corporate CEOs?" That's the point. The Trump supporters were grasping at straws, they understood the Dems had written them off as bought and sold long ago.

You mistake my disgust with the Clintons as support for Trump. Not hardly.

Re: “What Are They Smoking?

It is interesting how the loosening of requirements intended to fast-track treatments for AIDS allowed hundreds, if not thousands, of pharmaceutical company-created drugs to flood the market making billions, yet medical marijuana is still struggling for a place.

It only goes to prove my earlier point -- if they can't make a very lot of money from it, the use of marijuana for medical and recreational purposes will continue to be an uphill battle.

It also doesn't help that prosecuting marijuana "offenses" and incarcerating the offenders remains a serious revenue stream for the private prison systems in the United States, a trend that is not likely to change in the next four years.

Re: “Danehy

Salaries haven't increased in 15 years? Trump's has. And his band of Wall Street wizards and Corporate CEOs, in his cabinet, I am sure they were all rewarded by keeping their companies costs low, by moving jobs to China and making sure those in the US kept their wages low. So my premise will remain. Trump caring about Youngstown Steel is zero.

One person's gullibility is another's desperation. For those without work, or working multiple jobs to barely make ends meet or barely making ends meet on a salary that hasn't increased in fifteen years Trump's message might be seen as at least acknowledging their pain. Demeaning them is, as we've seen, a fool's choice - Hillary's Deplorables made the only case available to them .

Desperate times often call for desperate measures - Trump's victory should be understood as a Hail Mary pass by a large segment of the working population with nothing left to lose.

Re: “Guitar Hero

I was in a band called Heavy Axe. Palo Verde 77, 78 ---We started the desert scene in Tucson. Our first desert party was at the old prison camp on Mt Lemmon for The Huns. Thousands of people showed up. We played mostly rock but got dubbed new wave because we played ACDC before they were on the radio. Our first gig at The Night Train was called New Wave comes to Tucson with The Suspects, Heavy Ave, and Rampage. My cousins lived on a ranch at what is now Valencia and Kolb when that whole area was only desert. My oldest cousin grabbed a tractor one day and drove down the dirt road that went to Houghton. When he was about a mile short of Houghton he made a road into the desert south off Old Vail Road. He cleared out a huge area and called it "The Buzz" Heavy Axe played a couple of parties there and thousands of Tucson High Schoolers would show up. One of my friends from Palo Verde Paul Wilkens (bass player for Roc Lochner) started hanging out with Robby as he was getting ready to make his debut. Paul had a party at the buzz and held a lead guitar contest. Robby took the stage and played the lead in heartbreaker by Led Zep. He got everyones attention. Heavy Axe was history after that performance. Roc Lochner made a huge splash and Heavy Axe faded into oblivion. Robby and I have been friends for decades. He played in a band called Born and Bred with Milton Cox (Heavy Axe) The songs on the album they recorded are among my favorite songs that Robby ever played on. Meet you on the other side and Body for Business are epic.

Re: “Danehy

And lots of gullible voters bought the horse hockey shoveled by Trump. To those people in Youngstown or Saginaw or Ironwood or Storm Lake, if you believe a draft dodging New York real estate speculator, "reality show" host gives two $hits about your job or your Medicare, or closed factory, you are living in La La Land.

Re: “Danehy

Danehy gets it right: Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election in the Electoral College despite winning the popular vote decisively. Glad to hear Danehy, apparently now a recovering Democrat, concede defeat without pointing fingers, making excuses and hoping for, mirabile dictu, a magic reversal in the EC.

The reasons for the Clinton loss are less mysterious than her apologists admit: the voters weren't buying very old wine in a shapeshifting new plastic bottle. The tone deaf DNC refused to accept the fact that voter "distrust" of Clinton was actually a tepid description of the real issue, many voters actually despised her - and not because of "30 years of attacks" by the far right. The Democrats became lost in the weeds an assuming they could hold on to the coalition of 2008 and 2012 Obama supporters while continuing to neglect the workers - remember them? - who once formed the backbone of the party.

Anyone not blinded by party-sanship should have recognized the incredible, boisterous enthusiasm expressed in the Sanders and Trump rallies meant something really important; that professional politicians are as esteemed as Tom's chicken rapists. In the end, the shocking spectacle was the Democratic Party imploding while the Republicans formed a national conga line and danced in the streets. Maybe the new Democratic leader, 76 year old millionaire Nancy Pelosi will come to the rescue. And maybe pigs will be spotted flying over the dome of the county courthouse.

Re: “What Are They Smoking?

As indicated in the article, the "movement" also has much to do with decades of past injustices and millions of prosecutions with confiscation of property and ruining of lives without conscience. It used to be much worse than it is now, but mean spirited intolerance, Concerned Mom, is still a bigger problem in this country than people who prefer marijuana.

East-siders of Tucson have always been the coolest. Everyone was/is a rocker. We're happy to see Robbie living the life of "Local Boy Does Good" Proud to call him ours.
