My goodness, trip down memory lane.. raised in Tucson from 12 to 24, 1960 till 72.
Knew all these wonderful places, my favorite being Ye Olde Lantern with the appetizer tray, large red leather booths, fireplace and warm friendly staff.
My parents have long since passed but the first dinner we had when we visited Tucson before moving there on Xmas 59 was the Lantern. Lived near Coat of Arms and had rehearsal dinner at Cliff House, reception Coat of Arms. Great memories of so many others. Redwood Lodge, Vitos, Skyroom..Tucson has a proud heritiage of great eats. Thanks for the memories!!
Beyonce fans get what they deserve: Cookie cutter music and controlled publicity. 'Nuff said.
Really? The FBI getting involved in a hacked facebook account? XD
Yeah sure . . . I believe them, I once got MI6, the CIA and FBI come to my house to treat me for a paper cut . . . bad day . . .
Indian gaming is NOT unregulated as Kentop is trying to lead the readers on. In fact, there is a U.S. Govt regulatory board that is a extended arm of the U.S. Dept of Justice: National Indian Gaming Assoc. They see/review the $$$ numbers, the take and the payouts and report ANY misleading statements to the justice dept for an in-depth review. Las Vegas on the other hand, was built on Mob money and can you seriously say that they are not still involved. Let me guess, you support escorts & 24/7 stripclubs. As for Jack Abramoff: that is how the political system is set up... the other person who took money is JOEL OSTEEN. The natives gave them funds to advocate on their behalf; yet they took the money and spent it on themselves & did not give it back. If that is not a double standard, then what is... I am glad to see that this Native Tribe had the fore sight to see and invest properly in a solid long-term return; is that not the "American" dream Kentop
Welcome to the club!
"We are sorry the inappropriate article aired on KGUN9.."
I thought "article" referred to the printed word and "story" was used in both print and broadcast.
Anyway, this might make me actually tune into KGUN to see if it happens again. Otherwise, I can't think of any reason to watch that faltering station.
How do I know they were hacked? Well they were deleting comments for one. Thats really nice of the hacker to delete bad comments. To make matters worse, after the announcement of hacking, they went to their photo pages and changed the description to racists comments. Every photo, after the hack announcement, was changed to look like it was hacked. When I call them out on FB, they delete it. I know because I quoted it on a page, then went back and they added some more text. I hope they didn't call the FBI and the police because that is illegal to file a false report. It is so easy to prove too.
I ordered the mole at this restaurant once. It looked and tasted as though they had poured the contents of a spitoon over the chicken breast. It was awful. I have never returned.
Seeing the title of this post, I imagined it was about Beyonce's getting another $50 million from Pepsi for pushing diabetes water on fat kids (which got her uninvited by the White House.) Maybe her fat thighs relate to her drinking too much soda.
Mammey, let's lay this to rest: Cursing isn't necessary, but use of it is a reflection of the culture that exists, not a sanitized, white-washed version that we wish we could take part in.
In Mari's case, the idea of telling domestic harmony to go fuck itself could easily be seen as wanting to dismiss the concept with extreme prejudice -- to say, as clearly and proudly as possible, that it's an outdated, useless ideal and that people should be focusing on creating the best of life as it is, rather than to hope and pray that one day, everything will be absolutely perfect.
That's not to say that no one believes culture can't be improved, but to campaign vehemently against the use of swearing is a bit like attempting to close the barn doors after the horses have already escaped, bred in the wild, raised their young, grown old and died.
All that said, while your efforts are admirable, they're also misguided, not to mention a waste of your energies -- particularly in the comments section of an alternative weekly's website. Lay off it.
She doesn't want pictures of her FAT thighs going public. She is getting fat and would rather control the public photos than to lose the weight.
Republican speak:
'“I have found that [the cities] move the goal post,” Lesko said. "They agree on something and then they change their mind. It’s going to be whatever the Governor and the Legislature believes is best. We are not going to wait until the cites agree with everything they want. We don’t want to hurt the cities, but we need to move forward.”'
So we'll hurt the cities...
Well, I don't want to negate any good that has been done in the past and can't imagine what GLBTQ community in Tucson would be without it. But, after almost 2 years in Tucson (job relocation) my partner and I are doing everything we can to get outa Dodge and back to the West Coast. I've lived in urban and rural settings, USA and internationally. Yet, we're appalled and have never experienced such backwardness as Tucson -- not only when it comes to GLBTQ issues, but also, politically (roads, development, improvements) and socially (lack of prioritization for homeless). So whatever structural changes are deemed necessary by God I hope they are for the best. But I would expect that the same principle of justice and equality sought through programs and advocacy is practiced as well regarding employment issues; otherwise, the leadership would be a sham and lack credibility.
Estimado Ser. ..Save the Tequila for later
I think Amy is a kin to Jan Brewer
No mammey, I don't get the point. Its seems archaic and frivolous. To each their own I suppose.
This was an unforunate event, that is a fact. But seriously, this guy could have stopped to help, called 911, or a million things other than running and dumping the guys arm in a dumpster. No matter who started the whole thing, he should have stayed and helped. No excuse for that, he deserves the blame he got, I think he got off lucky.
Casino del Sol is not directly in my backyard but it's pretty close, and I'm fine with it. My only issue with the article is calling poker "gambling," because it's a game of skill (we are still trying to convince the US Government of that however) and if the tribe's casino becomes uber successful, as I hope it will, can we convince them to buy the Coyotes? I must confess I will not drive up to Glendale and patronize the casino unless there are still Coyotes games to see.
There's also a lot of eclectic movies available at Casa that aren't available anywhere else—not all movies have yet been converted to a digital format, especially the eccentric odd-ball good stuff.
