Re: “Eat This, Tucson

Or maybe it's because a good chef has actually trained and practiced a lot and knows how to use herbs, spices, different textures, different flavors, and appealing presentation to the best possible effect.

Re: “Eat This, Tucson

Dining out is the new smoking. The reason restaurant food, in general, tastes so good is that it is super high in salt and very calorically dense, while being nutritionally deficient; way more unhealthy than most people would make at home.

Re: “You Can’t Make History Alone

"My favorite thing to remember is singing Mexican ballads with my mom. These were songs about the Mexican Revolution."

"Sanctuary is a very key thing right now."

So sad that as a U.S. (United States of America) Poet Laurette you don't advocate for America, the United States of America, not Mexico.

Damn good thing Barack Hussein Obama was triumphantly denounced by the citizens of the United States of America.

Re: “You Can’t Make History Alone

So worthy of this light. The words you say and do not say. It is why poets spark revolutions.

Re: “The Return of Wyatt Earp

I have never read a more bias-immersed story in my life. I had to google the author's name to see if any immediate lineage to the cowboys appeared. How in the world do you shoot down other stories, tell a gigantic Wild West story about someone, and then say there's no story? How in the world do you justify telling all the wrongs being done to someone, admit they were going to be killed unless they stood up to lawless fiends, and then settle on their being unjust murderers? Just based on the transparent distaste for Earp, and your insistence that historians are wrong, hobbyists are wrong, everyone is wrong that finds any empathy, I can't in good conscience believe a word you've said here. Is this a wordpress blog or a legitimate newspaper? Who approved this mess?

Re: “Sex Language

The logic of this article escapes me. It seems to be comparing contemporary slang English with "traditional Chinese". First, "traditional Chinese" is undefined: "Chinese" is not a language, but a family of languages. The article never states which Chinese language was used for translations. It seems unlikely that all Chinese languages use the same terms to refer to sex. If "traditional Chinese" means "classical Chinese", which is indeed used to refer to a single language, then it seems preposterous to compare words used in classical literary Chinese with contemporary English slang.

Moreover, it is surprising these days to find an article that is unaware, or ignores, the obvious fact that perception of vulgarity is subjective: based on social and personal tastes. The terms the author finds poetic might be offensive to others, while terms like "cock" and "pussy" - which are simply animal metaphors, based on physical appearance - do not bring to my mind the violent negative connotations mentioned here.

Try this experiment: learn a few slang Cantonese sex terms, then ask a Cantonese-speaking journalist if those words are vulgar or melodic - you may be surprised.

It's great to see Native American kids having an outlet to express themselves.

Re: “Trashing Arizona

The jobs have moved to Mexico but the illegals keep coming into our Country. Why? Because Mexico doesn't give their people welfare, food stamps and free medical services. USA has been a very generous Country but enough is enough! Those emergency services are temporary and for the tax payers not for free loaders from other Countries working our system. They take our jobs user all of our services and send their money to their homeland Country. They come here and take take take. They fly their flags, tell everyone how great Mexico is and they love their Country. Then they flip us their middle finger at us.

Re: “The Activist Question

I find it interesting that they pick up litter at the border but they won't do it here in Tucson. Holy litter?

Re: “The Activist Question

The indian Mike Wilson who has been doing this for years NEEDS to go to jail. Yes you may think you are saving a life but you can be killing others. A rancher was killed by one of these illegals.

Re: “The Activist Question

It needs to be illegal to provide water. These same groups ALSO provide trail maps. I"m surprised you don't provide Tiki Bars and RVs. The drug mules use the water and bring drugs to the US which kills our people.

Re: “Mysteries in the Mountains

I can tell you this, I believe. My name is Linda,I live in Yuma, Arizona. I can't tell you anything about the other stories other than I enjoyed them very much, but I can tell you that I have a video of something (lights) that is proof that there is something out there in our universe with intelligence, and is not human. It travels way to fast whatever it is. It is not flares, drones, stars or any kind of military aircraft. I would love to post my video of this here for you all to see, and on YouTube, but I have yet to find anyone who can tell me anything about what it is or who to get in touch with that can tell me anything. If anyone can help me please email me at lindasue@myself.com I have let several friends view this video, and like me,they are totally amazed by the contents, and I never believed before I seen these lights that anything like that was possible. I can assure you that now I'm a believer!!

Re: “Dear Mr. President

(Yawn). This is old news. The weekly is out of date, relying on keeping old articles that are tiring to read up far too long on its net site. Time for a new editor. There's a lot going on in Tucson, more than just a sample done once a week. Let's fix this soon before the weekly become a historical artifact, the Tucson New Times...
