People must be careful of who you take to. Some people are so proud of having their MMJ card they flash it all around, it really doesn't mean anything except you got ripped off for $300. dollars by the state and they know who you are.
If you show your card to a police man during a stop, well your going to jail. They assume you have been smoking....Do Not Leave Your Pipe Or Anything in your Car. If they see it your going to jail and it's going to cost thousands of dollars.
If the police don't see it they have NO reason to search your car or you.
Be careful out there.
How do you like living in a police state?
Are you still telling people you live in the greatest country in the world?
"My country, right or wrong, by jingoism!"
Still have that American flag on your pickup truck and the yellow ribbon magnet on the back saying you support our troops?" How will you feel when those same troops come for you?
Is it any surprise that just as our country will attack other nations for fun and profit, they will do the same to us?
the saying "lest we forget" has been forgotten. "first they came for the jews and we stood by and did nothing". no offense to those who experienced the horrors of the "war to end all wars". i will compare the atrocities that led to the drug war,the largest bloodiest war from central america to the u.s.a. in current times.thats my opinion. i am german, and i have been asked often in life "how could the good people of germany let that happen?"these days i say look in the mirror. the reasons for justifying attacking and destroying a population are infinate.the flavor of today in america is "get the druggies". so good people sit and wait for your turn for the greater good to,as pink flloyd sums it up"to smash in your windows and kick in your doors,to weed out the weeklings and strengthen the strain."i am very sad for the green halo and its workers.i still think america and the people are better than this.it is looking pretty dark.i have to go.jackboots are kicking in my door,i must answer it.
unfourtanly i can relate literally my life is ruined over medical marijuana because the police the prosecutors and public defender are all against it and dont bother calling the complaint line cause those guys tesify in court against you. once again thank you for writing this article its really sad zero common sense??? in my case if theres even a trace of metabolites in your system ur considered guilty so if you drive and take med mary jane ur giulty so basically everybody guilty and run the risk of being busted by this slightest degree law i think it takes like two weweks maybe longer to leave your system so to avoid jail take one hit than wait two weeks before you drive again total bull once again very sorry to hear of ur loss
i like your articles mr smith im the problematic pipe guy got arrested for possion of paraphanelia presented the officer my card at the scence he never called it in comes back and say your under arrest for the pipe and left it out of his report another officer at the scene says why ru arresting him if he has the mmj card ?ignores her say i was acting animated on his report aND figures out a way to arrest me for dwi they get you on this slightest degree law dui task force sgt deoste shows up i tell her i was falsly arrested for the pipe i got a current license she ignores italso my adivise is it is not leagl to have any weed in ur system and be behind the wheel despite the statue that sayys diffeent they dont even have to prove driving imparment the bottom line is im gonna end up bankrupt and going to jail and have a crimnal record for the rest of my life now my life is ruined for something it thought was totally legal thanks danielson 51776
i was pulled over for no raeson vehiclce searched found pipe i present my mmj license to cop he takes it with him in his cruser comes back and says ur under arrset i ask did you call it in to verify another responding officer says the same thing then they field test me and arrsest me again for dwi when i read the police report no mention of me presenting the mmj license now ive gone bankrupt fighting it they get you on the slightest degree law that was written years ago and is in direct conflicts with the mmj statue. the police officer name is Danielson and deostes have complaints aqgainst them anyone else come across thes two officers
Im a prop 203 patient . I WAS ARRESTED ON JULY 12TH ..I recieved 2 felonies. the police told me that card is meaning less. i paid $350 i have med problems . im not a criminal and still recieved 2 feloine charges. they had 6 other patients they arrested that day in court . the guy who shot his girlfriend in the face . in front of there 2 year old son . he got released with 0 bond . he even had prior weapons violations . all 6 of the patients got 10k bond and all there property seized cars , house , bank accounts. you tell me what is the purpose of prop 203 ? my opion of prop 203 is i paid $350 to get 2 felonie charges for donating 19grams of medical marijuana. law enforcement wants the public to believe they are only targeting noncomplying patients . thats false. just a horrible outrage for arizona and our voters.
Well the Governor needs to keep her private prison system full. There are a lot of people in that system for none violent crimes like have some marijuana and a pipe.
This state is totally backwards when it comes to the law on growing MMJ.
Dude your columns are getting more insipid every week. Are you not tuned in to what is really going on in the world of weed? Come on at least do your homework and the 25 mile rule is currently not enforceable because there are no dispensaries and they won't be "operating" for still quite sometime and if you have your card it is good until the renewal regardless of where dispensaries open up. The question of grandfathering in the 30,000 cutlivating patients is still on the table with a lawsuit filed on this very issue over six months ago by Bill Hayes. Why didn't you give Mr. Hayes a call and get a comment from him.
Also there are raids going on the police are harrassing and haranging the patients and not one word from you about is this a good use of our limited resources? Tucson arrests over 4,000 of our citizens a year for simple possession (usually under an oz) and paraphernalia charges. Once you are arrested and charged with a Class 6 felony you are shifted over to the claws of Barbara LaWall and that's where the injustice really hits home. Barbara LaWall is a raging prohibitionist that is a lapdog for the drug rehab centers. All the younger offenders (mostly college age) that get caught plead guilty to a lesser charge and are sent through diversion and even drug rehab. The drug rehab places (The Haven & The Compass) get big bucks everytime LaWall and her minions send over one of the "offenders" into their clutches and our taxpayer dollars are going up in smoke. Cover this story and it is rotten to the core and the Tucson Weekly might get back to the old fashioned journalism that seems to have been missing lately.
Pursuant to dispensaries to be (or not to be), what's the update on Green Halo? KVOA says they got busted -- http://www.kvoa.com/news/four-arrested-in-illegal-marijuana-dispensary-investigation -- and -- http://www.kvoa.com/news/care-center-allegedly-a-smokescreen-for-pot-shop -- with four people arrested (possession, possession with intent to sell), and the interwebs are strangely silent (or I'm not looking down the right newsholes). Any new news? Keep cool out there, peeps!
The first item on the agenda is to get it off Schedule 1. Nothing can move forward until that's done.
Time is an illusion. This plant has always been beneficial to society.
In the 80's AZ Greens organized on a platform calling for drug reform and adopting of a harm reduction policy. It was an civil liberty and environmental stand for a peaceful solution as opposed to the escalating violence in the streets, flood of cocaine and development of crack, and scourge of AIDS epidemic as result of interdiction policy of the drug war. Even if we did marched a giant joint into the organizing conference in Eugene Oregon, woke them up, and demanded drug reform be written into the National Green Party platform, "our giant joint clearly displayed the benefits of hemp/marijuana. I would say it was never just about the right to smoke pot. http://sedonagreens.org/AZGP%20History.htm…
Just think ow many people could be employed in this country if it was legal.
There's so much you can do with this plant, after all the Constitution is written on hemp.
Something is wrong with Mr/Ms legend's computer. Both posts above need a re-edit. Or a new keyboard.
corruption is the rust of society.it is alive and well in the mmj industry.keep up the demand for accountability.the truth is like a cool drink from a cold spring on a hot day.the only power the people have are facts.like the one's by "Speaking Truth to Power"and the great column by j.m.smith.using the sick as a target of the "drug war".how sick is that?what is next,a war on the sick people?facts, truth accountability.demand them, dont ask, before a war is declared on them.exposing the corruption trying to hi-jack our mmj laws will show we are people not commodities.it is a great start.
How about your next column you write an article about the way AzDHS is mishandling the AMMA program. They have taken in at my estimate over 6 million smackers (30,000 patients x $150) plus 500 dispensary applications ($5,000 grand =$2.5 million), plus 1000 caregivers at $200 a pop. One you shell out the bucks for the card you don't even get a stink in' brochure from AzDHS telling you how to use the medicine or where to even go for meds. To top it off please turn over your green card and see the new language that is very chilling.
"Possessing marijauna may be in violation of local, state or federal laws. Possession of this card does not provide legal protection." WTF??? Plus AzDHS with all of their money they have racked in can't even hire a proof reader? Note they spelled marijuana incorrectly.
The cherry on the sundae is the cards are to have a 20 digit number issued randomly and Mr. Will Humble has been disregarding this from the jump. Every patient card starts with 00 and then move onto the numbers #8 and #9 and you'll see the letters QP, followed by the end of the number string which ends in 001. The last three numbers will change to 002 once your renew or make a change to your card. Every single card has these numbers hard wired into them and they are tracking our every move. When called on this they just blithely ignore the complaint and continue to break the law. This is our medical marijuana program not a few bureaucrats and they are running it into the ground.
The final straw is the recent NY Times article in which Mr. Humble admits to instructing a staff member at AzDHS to set up a "fake" Facebook account to monitor the comments posted about the program and to then go after anyone that he feels are looking for loopholes in the program. How is this not against the law? Facebook has clear Terms of Service about not fraudulently setting up an account and Mr. Humble is breaking the law.
This is what you should be writing about instead of rubber stamping the good job Humble is doing, I beg to differ.
i to am offended by your use of "hot date".the insinuation this gives reeks of irresponsible dating.i do not read your column for the compassion you show the sick desperatly trying to find an alternative to perscription drugs and their side effects.i am looking for improper grammer.all kidding aside,J.M.Smith has helped me navagate my way through the the confusion of mmj law.i am a card carrier because of wasting syndrome, and with marijuana i can eat and gain a few pounds.helping with the horid pain is a plus.oh,i also suffer from agoraphobia.marijuana has lowered my need for as much medicine, calmed my world.no cure, just management.by the way doc,i never miss my appointments to my anxiety clinic.i do not want to be a "under the radar"nervous mess.to say mmj will cure depression,anxiety,p.t.s.d is misleading.no cure, only treatment for the serious sufferers.i am sure the doctor knows the phrase "another tool in your tool box".give those that suffer another tool.we really need all the help we can get.thank you J.M.Smith.i represent whose lives have been a little better and less hopeless with the help from you and your column.mabye we will see the day when society leans to help the sick, and quit trying to control people.mmj makes that day a little closer.
The only comment I can make is addressed to JM Smith, the author of this story.
I'm just wondering where you went to school that you have no other descriptive words other than 'asshole' to describe people in traffic. Amazing that this would be published with that kind of vocabulary being used. I'm no prude, and yes I use that word myself but never in a written article. Its gross and vulgar, shows lack of character and writing skills. I nearly stopped at the first paragraph when I came to that reference. Its not necessary to get your point across to use that kind of language. I hope to read better from you in the future.
Re: “Under Arrest”
We must enthusiastically defend these innocent employees from SWAT abuse.
