Shoo -- You certainly are grinding that ax, aren't you? We know you were canned by 1290 and this is your 2nd negative column about the station. Not say you don't bring up some valid points, but I see where Brad is getting airtime periodically on the station as a fill-in, but you have not been back. Is there more to the story than you have shared, or are you just using your position as a columnist to take shots at the station? "Inquiring minds want to know" ....
Why wasn't Aaron Pickering chosen as chief meteorologist? He's been there awhile and is very good. Why don't these stations choose to promote from within? They always go outside the box. Well, I bet you'll see Aaron and Erin Jordan leaving soon since they weren't promoted. Shame on you KOLD!
Yes @fraser007, that will mean having to pay to read it online. Odds are they'll do like how other papers do, and give you X number of story reads free each month, then the rest will require a monthly subscription.
Fear not, though: you'll still be able to read UA basketball and football coverage (FOR FREE) here: http://bleacherreport.com/users/2861968-br…
Can you explain the last paragraph? Is the Star going to charge to be able to read the online version in 2014?
That will be the death rattle if the paper. I used to enjoy reading the Sunday edition. Now I go through it in 10 minutes. Only the sports section is readable. 2/3 of the Sunday paper is ads. My recycling can is always filled.
Hey Star home delivery subscribers -- did you know you are paying a $2 premium to have the Thanksgiving Day paper delivered -- the same paper that will be chock full of ads.. that companies have PAID the Star to deliver!
Has anybody been looking at the Star's sports pages lately? Full of errors -- where is the copy desk? Oh right, it's now a universal desk. Unbelievable the number of mistakes. Day after day.
Reporters used to get dinged for 2 corrections a year! Now they don't even bother to run corrections - likely because Humenik and the rest don't eve realize mistakes have been made.
How long before it goes under?
She is so incredibly sexy. The gorgeous women is the only reason to watch KVOA
the basketball pregame, like the football pregame, is now unlistenable. bums me out
Tonya: That's because all Cumulus, Clear Channel, and other big broadcasting companies run things from a power central somewhere in a hidden bunker, behind a curtain, and without any concern for what really is broadcast.
nice that greed trumps all in the high school sport broadcasting.
As a business owner who fell to their fraud and concealment tactics I urge ALL others to stay away. They have continued to harass and threaten me with a lawsuit. They have NO MORAL compass and need to be stopped which is what I am trying to do. Wish me LUCK!
KCUB used to have some absolutely great programming around Wildcat games. Too bad they let IMG (or the Arizona Athletics, whoever's in charge) dictate the terms of their deal, and turned lapdog. I lost a lot of respect for all parties that are still involved with Wildcat broadcasts: the folks at IMG, Cumulus, and Arizona Athletics.
All sports. Nothing about news.
It would be embarrasing to have the 1290 feed go across TuneIn Radio. They run the same ads from Jack Furrier to Sam Hughes Place again, again, again, again, again, again and again. Monotonous voices, bad reads and horrible writing. Kind of like our local news product.
Just health inspections and sickening sweet human interest stories. That's not news its time fillers.
Hey fraser007, I don't think you watch KVOA very often. They do almost no talking between stories. They also do the most and by far best investigative stories of the three main newscasts.
hmm you love to take the kool aid from tv station management don't you. If you did any fact checking you would know that fox owns "movies" thus the change and tribune now programs "this tv" has nothing to do with alleged equipment problems. But that you actually had any of this information at all is amazing to me, usually you are six months late with everything. I was just expecting another promotion for some former Tucson tv execs book or something. Again thank goodness for the radio tv message board, your column becomes less and less relevant ever week.
Sure KWBA may not be watched by all of Tucson, but who can stand KVOA and the mindless talking heads who "chat" with each other between stories. And all of the Christy Kids and all of the sickening sweet stories. I actually watch the 9:00pm news just to stay away from the 10pm programs, except the Sports.
The Andrea Tantaros show was the best thing to ever happen to NPR. 5 minutes of that shrill, eastern hack voice and all you want is someone to whisper the information.
If I want to hear a tone of voice like that drumming on and on about made up concerns without merit, I need only to contact my ex-wife.
