Even though the Star laid off a ton of people in 2011 (five years ago yesterday, in fact), they had been steadily hiring people again in the last couple years. There have been quite a few names in the paper that are completely unfamiliar to the folks who were let go in the big bloodletting. It seems maybe they couldn't afford to be making all those hires after all. Sad. Meanwhile, notice who DIDN'T get the ax this time (or any other time) -- any member of the top-heavy management.
Standish quote still unfixed. You're pathetic.
Nothing to report about the layoffs at the Star?
Is that some strange variation of Pig Latin where you are actually referencing Elliott Pitts?
Whether it's a variation of Pig Latin or not, it's still strange.
Maybe it's time to report on the OTHER huge story floating around the Tucson media that NOBODY is willing to report on. About someone named Plliott Eitts. Y'all have had THAT story since December.
Mr Som and his STUPID BARBIE wife should spend some time volunteering at our Gospel Rescue Mission. Maybe sell the BMW and give the money to a drug rehab program. Mr Som there is something called Karma. I guess this story hits a hot button with me. They almost killed their baby because they wanted to do coke REALLY??? And the fancy house and the Tiffany jewelry. Not every drug addict lives on the street. Rant Rant Rant
And you wonder why your industry is held in such low regard?
You go out of your way to emphasize, repeatedly, that local media knew about Som weeks before the story finally hit. I don't know if you included it that way to save face, but it just makes you (and the other media you implicate by association) look really bad.
Maybe the medias BEST crime reporter was all coked up. That is now, a simple explanation.
The question that should be asked -- and answered -- is why did the media sit on this story about one of its own?
My children required DoL WH-381 some time ago and were told about a web service that has a huge forms library . If others are searching for DoL WH-381 too , here's http://goo.gl/IyLYpf.
At approx. 37 y/o, I did not know he was so young! (Never met the guy.)
Phis is an interesting guy. I enjoyed his pieces in ADS often. And I remember him doing movie reviews on the radio several years ago. I have heard many hard-luck stories from authors trying to get published or find a way to make it their chosen career, Phil V. is one of those guys I hope it happens for.
Bill Buckmaster .... aka the most boring person ever to talk into a radio mic .....
As "DJ Schu," the author is part of this "fledgling effort."
"Lee continues to benefit from revenue sharing arrangements via TNI."
I don't know where to begin on this sentence. For one, Lee and Gannett co-owned TNI; this sentence makes it sound like TNI was somehow doling out money.
But more important, TNI hasn't existed for several years. It dissolved under former Star publisher John Humenik, who is what, 2-3 publishers ago? The entire building is now Arizona Daily Star. If anything, it's Gannett -- which doesn't even publish anything locally anymore -- that "continues to benefit" from a profit-sharing arrangement. Lee's Arizona Daily Star is the one doing all the earning and therefore SHOULD benefit. (But again, it's not under the auspices of TNI, which doesn't exist.)
I know you love to bag on the Star, but when you're including actual news about the place, you might want to double-check your "facts" because what you think you know might not be true anymore.
Radio isn't the only medium that goes through changes.
Of course the weakly is going to pimp Downtown radio. After all it's downtown and to the weekly nothing is any good unless it's downtown.
Bite me, Cat Woman !!
CW...maybe you're not as ignorant as I thought.....nah !
Yes, it's the heat. I'm definitely crazy from the heat. Now I just need to find an excuse for my craziness when the heat is gone. 😨
