Local news is dying. Unfortunately, the tv stations don't realize it or they would attempt to change the model.
They won't and it will die.

My favorite is the menacing music played during Channel 4s "investigation" reports.
TV sweeps month is a crock. They (newsroom management) gin up ideas and then try to build stories around them, mostly specious.
In his defense, John does an excellent job reading press releases and fiscal reports.

The fact that you are, for some mysterious reason, the Weekly's "Media Columnist" but you you readily admit you don't watch much local news speaks volumes about this column, John.
And who could forget KGUN's "exploding toilet" story? Sweeps are fun!
