Re: “Hotel Feasting

Tucdan: You'd be surprised. There are plenty of terrible restaurants serving dishes at those prices. Plus, you never head somewhere nice for a meal?

Re: “Hotel Feasting

I love it when reviewers rave about restaurants that they eat at because someone else is paying the bill. Give us a break! Almost any restaurant would be good at the prices you quote for this place. It's not a place that the average Tucson Weekly reader can afford.

Re: “Fox's Successful Flip

Tried it, will not be back. Very average food at above average prices. Fox is clearly going for a younger, bar oriented crowd and higher profits. Good dining options in Tucson are decreasing as more and more restaurants offer overpriced and mediocre food.

Re: “Fox's Successful Flip

First, I have not eaten at the new North, but I find the stock tanks out in front of the restaurant off putting, especially when the restaurant is in the only up scale locale in town. The imagery is terrible. It is very possible to do a Tuscan farmhouse image that is sophisticated and elegant, but visually this place looks like desert southwest meets Italy.

Great. Another clanking open kitchen. No thanks.

Re: “Fox's Successful Flip

The food and atmosphere have changed dramatically, and becasue of this so has the clientele. It is nowhere near the same level as it used ot be.

Re: “Fox's Successful Flip

Some may consider the place too noisy - No, some of us DO consider the place too noisy.

Re: “Street Food and the Sea

I would agree with dear Jackie. This place had some really great highs on my two visits and some lows.

Most of the food was excellent for sure, and I love the atmosphere and concept.

Lows include horrendous timing in service and the inability to customize some of the dishes. ie: asian Sonoran dog.

However, they have cards out for suggestions and fed back, so they do care. I believe they will iron out the few kinks and be a great place for some time to come.

Re: “The Natives Approve

This is simply THE BEST Chinese food we have ever had. I lived in San Francisco for 5 years, San Diego & L.A. for 20 years, now Tucson for 12 years. After eating high and low...THIS IS IT ! Worth going out of your way for, but easy to find, we cannot get enough of Mary's egg drop soup, Kung Pao...and anything on the menu. Locals love it, the Snow Birds can appreciate the $ 5.75 lunch menu and dinner plates are HUGE. The staff will make you feel like family, and it is not to be missed. Will not disappoint, thje service is above and beyond. Hey Mary...we're on our way ....Carol & Jerry

Re: “Street Food and the Sea

This is probably one of the better reviews I've heard about this place :S

Re: “Quaint Café

Downtowner, that list would've been too long and I have a word limit. Haha!
I think Amelia's will find the success here that so many others couldn't. The seafood restaurant did well, but then they just didn't want to do it anymore. The daycare center was just misplaced. The cafe that didn't even open really lost out.
You might want to check out several of my previous works in past Yum! Issues. I love writing about the culinary history of Tucson.

Re: “The Kimchi Chronicles

To eat bi bim bap, the egg has to be raw, which you will most likely have to ask for. Most Korean places in America serve a fried egg on top because of the American's fear of salmonella. It is served in a hot bowl in order to cook the raw egg. Also, use a spoon next time. In Korea, they use chopsticks for picking things up like meat or kimchi, but they use spoons to eat rice. No need to worry about being judged for simply using a spoon. Just a suggestion. A year in Korea and this is all I learned.

Re: “Quaint Café

Would have been nice to add a sentence or 2 about the previous culinary tenants of this spot, for historical context. Or, perhaps the writer wasn't in these parts when there were previous culinary tenants. We don't have much historical context left in the local media.

Re: “Quaint Café

Our first lunch there yesterday was delightful. The turkey sandwich was one of the best. The tortilla soup was tasty and unlike any other tortilla soup found in Tucson. Staff was friendly and my cup of tea warmed me on a chilly day. Price was right. Thanks for your service on Campbell. Watch out Beyond Bread.

Re: “#SoHoStillNeedsAFilter

Wow, great information. Timing of serving is key to a meal. The restaurant should not have a problom with this. Are they really professionals? Food changes as it sits and need to be eaten when prepared, not sitting for a few minutes.
Hopeful this article will create a change in the restaurant.

Re: “Neighborhood Joint

We love this place and have always had great service and great food. We have been here many times and it is a wonderful place to stop before or after a movie (theater is next door). They have good salads, some of the best pizza in town, and a good selection of beer including a few really good drafts.

Thanks for the catch, FTC. The sidebar has been added.

Hmm, the usual sidebar that lists the location and contact info seems to be missing.

Just a note: Don't post multiple comments, saying roughly the same thing, from the same IP address. We will pull them down.
