This is a great young record store that lends itself to live gigs [local & out of town],it is not
some hipster joint where you would be embarrassed to ask for Elton John's "Madman...." lp or the 1st
E.W.&F. "Keep your head to the sky" lp.However, the folks working there know alot about new Genre's
i never heard of .They will find you an old "Rainer Ptacek" or a new "Katterwaul".Wooden Tooth has
kind, stand -up guys who own it and you won't go wrong stoppin' in.I been there...These stores are treasure for minds who crave music.
Thanks a lot, this really is a truly awsome article! Has anyone ever wondered how to fill out forms online? I have, and found a simple service. Filling out forms is super easy with PDFfiller. Try it on your own here NM TRD RPD-41317 and you'll make sure how it's simple. http://pdf.ac/9tMm7k
Lived with Dick and his friend in their condo back in 87 or 88. My brother introduced me to them. My brother also painted two murals on the walls of the FineLine at its old location. It was a fun place back then.
Happy Holidays from myself, James Williams, who can attest to Mr. Tatum and his music. From Dec if 69 to Jan of 74 I was stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB and had the privledge of listening to andfor a short while singing with his banb The Haze Express. Every week they played at the NCO club. In 1972 4 airmen and myself formed a vocal group called Brother Love and for at least a year we performed with them at the club and on some of their Chitling Circuit Tours. It was great back then.
The original owner of PDQ is 91 years old. Cool dude with lots o' vinyl.
I feel Dan's pain! As a huge fan of alt-country, Americana, and all it's various sub-sub genres the Mumford and Son's, Lumineers wave has been a trainwreck. Still, O' Death is badass! Been rocking out to them for years now! Thanks for covering this show.
WOO! can't wait to check out show tonight !!
Yeah, unfortunately the show was for us a drag also. We work for a living so having to wait around an hour longer after the first two bands were done and then the Cat Power sound check was a bit exhausting. And the focus on stage once they came out kind of reminded me of the last B.B. King concert i attended . But shelling out $32 bucks for the Rialto is kind of ridiculous anyways given the terrible acoustics. Seems it was only two or three years ago shows were 10-12 bucks. $16 for something special. And that $1 extra for the Rialto renovation fund, wheres that going? Haven't they paid for the new signage already?
i wish i had read this Cat Power article before shelling out money to see her. Actually, I didn't see her. After waiting for an hour for her to show up to her own concert, i got my money back and left. My wife stayed with our son. She said it was sad because Chan looked and sound strung out and kept misplaying. My wife finally walked out. Won't be spending money to support her drug/alcohol/mental illness, hope she gets every other suckers' money to pay for admittance to rehab/mental health facility.
i hope head over heart gets better equipment or something. i wanted to like them but they sounded pretty horrible.
the opening guy, jessssssssssss, was pretty good. i would have been okay with watching him for the hour instead of listening to craptastic 70's rock classics.
Love the use of B+B titles- nice work!
Good for you, Rat T. I'll try to find room in next week's issue for the gripping story "Editor caught in grammatical error fiasco!"
Grammatically, a while is a noun phrase in which "a" is an article and "while" functions as a noun meaning "a short period of time"
Down the Drain: To be fair, "the FUCKING editor of Tucson Weekly" has years of experience writing about music, so it's not that weird. Kind of made my living doing this sort of thing for awhile, actually.
Oh, and do the Spice Girls count?
The Belgian band Bene Gesserit is another
Well, there's the German band Dune, for one ; )
Where is Steve? I mean, really, why is the fucking EDITOR of Tucson Weekly writing the soundbites column?
Nice placement Mr Siegel! Cheers
KXCI is 91.3, ladies and gentlemen, not 92.1 as you say in the Sonic Solstice blurb! I can't think of many people who would actually be confused by that error, but it's still wrong
