Re: “From Service to Homeless

Thank you Mayor Rothschild for turning public housing into a dumping ground. I am leaving it, after many years, because of your new arrivals that have made it a hell hole of people acting out, destroying property and not having the ability to get alone with other people. Aren't long-term homeless supposed to go through Transitional Housing to assess their suitability for permanent, self-sufficient housing? Or are they being rubber stamped?
Wait until the HUD programs RAD and Moving to Work come to Tucson's PHA, you all will be singing a different tune.

Re: “From Service to Homeless

I'm a recently homeless vet. Got sick, missed a couple of months from work. Couldn't catch up. Got evicted. Judging by a couple of comments here, the initial tendency to blame people for their own misfortune is alive and well. People hate details. So It's easier to believe that someone planned poorly, or made bad decisions, or pissed off God. Whatever. Here's hoping that, should misfortune ever befall them, they reap what they've sown.

Re: “From Service to Homeless

Abby is a smart , generse person, at her age life should be about family and friends not finding a career and more. as a person thats disabled with years of edivance thas income is something that social security should have awarded her already like many others waiting 5 or 10 years, with lots of back up. On that subject no lawyears looking to help and social service providers under funded, overloaded with cases and not properly trained in all the way to help ,along with providers not always wanting to provide information that could help. Meanwhile the mayor has cut services, and I bet he never even met Abby or anyother person down on their luck if there wasnt a photop schedule. Mr. Rothschild really doesnt get it, doesnt try and got him into an office above his head. The mayor has proved himself a slave of the banking, military and non profit industrial complex. he is not the guy for the job.

Re: “From Service to Homeless

Problem1: everyone expects the Iraq/Afghan vets as being shell shocked in some manner mostly because of the small percentage who returned, found no suitable work or were too lazy too, and turned to substance abuse.

Problem 2: PTSD is an unprovable syndrome used to cop a marijuana "subscriptions'' casting suspicion on the syndrome.

Problem 3: employers think they will be under performers, volatile performers, a drag on their insurance costs, or bad actors from a bad war.

Re: “From Service to Homeless

You are given a behemoth amount of resources and advantages if you were ever in the military. GI bill for housing, Job markets and advantages in applying for federal jobs, education while in and out. You had every opportunity to use them save money ,get training in a career ect..Now if you choose to ignore them what excuse do you have?

Re: “For Pima's Sake

This school should not be accredited, this school is a waste of time and money. Quality of education is abysmal and that administration lacks competency. Don't make the same mistake I did, go straight to UofA.

Re: “Never Mind Donald Trump!

Trump is highly criticized for his immigration policies. However, which one of us would allow a total stranger into our home without knowing exactly who that person is ? America is our home and some of us still believe in the very principals that made this nation one of the greatest nations in the world. Open boarders is putting the lives of many of our fellow Americans in danger, period ! There is a time for compassion, a time of war, a time for peace. If Hilary Clinton is elected she will follow in close pursuit of the Obama policies and will continue to dismantle the traditional values of America of whom many have given their lives to preserve.

Our liberties are at stake, our first and second amendment rights are about to become a thing of the past. How dare we speak our minds without the threat of opposition by the left who seems far more concerned in not being offensive then caring for the lives of their loved ones. How dare we oppose 'gun control' when Mr. hypocrite Obama and his family will not disarm their Secret Service agents from their weapons to protect them from criminals and thugs that will never abide by the rules whom he proposes . I want the same right to protect and defend my family as Hilary and Obama have to protect theirs. If they are so confident that their gun control measures will stop terrorists and criminals then let them disarm their guards and show leadership, let them set the example for the rest of us second amendment right crazy fanatics and let them put their money where their mouth is.

Re: “Never Mind Donald Trump!

Hey David W,
You are spot on again. The left always practices selective outrage too. Angry at the NRA, conservative Christians, and now Donald Trump. Not much said about the actual evil doers however.
Funny how the first amendment rights of Trump supporters to attend a rally without being attacked
doesn't come up. Or the second amendment rights of law abiding gun owners is ignored when going after a certain type of semi-automatic weapon. I heard that the "Gays with Guns" groups are now banned from the pride parades this month too. Where did their constitutional rights go?
Notice how Jefferson's "inalienable rights coming from the Creator" quote in the Declaration of Independence and Madison repeating it in The Bill of Rights never gets mentioned in
their arguments about keeping religion out of politics.
As for talking out ones arse, is their a better example than Hillary and Barry's bold face lies to
the Benghazi victims families when blaming a video for the attack? Ok, maybe " you can keep your
doctor". Or maybe "Isis is on the run"

Re: “Never Mind Donald Trump!

There you go Vince. They want to base public policy on the USC when it's necessary in their argument, and then constantly trash it as outdated and ignore it when it doesn't fit their agenda.

Re: “Never Mind Donald Trump!

They don't have to check their faith, but they sure as hell have to put it 2nd to the duties of their office. Of course it would have been nice if Obama and Clinton came around to gay marriage support earlier. But they did come around.
As for showing mercy and compassion for immigrants and refugees, and framing it in a faith-based context, that's fine with me. It's not like you have to adhere to any faith to feel the same way. Being decent to people may be part of most religions, but it's certainly not like belief in a higher power or dogma is required for that. You base public policy on the constitution, on treating people fairly, and short and long-term well being of the citizenry of the country.

And Trump talks out of his ass all the time, it's what he does.

Re: “Guest Commentary

TEP Bills and all other utilities will continue to rise as a subsidy to unsustainable and uneconomic alternatives. Next the Dems/Libs will propose carbon offset taxes, these along with national policy will further take $$ from your pockets for energy in the range of 45-70% over the next 5-7 years. This will help the standard of living in Tucson how?
Of course Lawyer/Liars like the Mayor will not feel this cost at all in their rarefied neighborhoods behind security gates! Just compare our current costs to other countries that have adopted these policies in Europe and the Commonwealth.
