Just don't watch the servers make the salads using their hands.
Magpies is to pizza, what Taco Bell is to Mexican.
Not what it used to be!! They are now too busy for quality!
What a dissapointment. we had been going to this restautant since it opened. Tonight, Friday before Valentine Day 2010 was such a dissapointment from any other ever enjoyed there in past. We arrived around 5:10 pm, early enough to beat the crowds! After seating a partial party, then moving them because their other diners would not be there for an hour, another party of three joined our table. Finally our cook came to the table after 6:20, the grill was over heated, he put the eggs on griddle and they promptly burnt to a discusting shade of black! He scrapped away the black egg, added the rice (to a still too hot griddle) and it became crunchy and scorched to a scary grey color. Oh did I mention the flying egg shell launched from his poor attempt of a clumsy show. My chicken was blackened to a crispy unidentifiable texture. He forgot I ordered shrimp and tried to give my order to the other party. The saddest of all was when expressing our first dissapointment in our dining experience, they did not care!!! They just said "oh" I'll tell the owner later!!! So very sad, they used to be great but are now reduced to not caring about their service and worse about their food quality!!!

Can the person who handles the bands at this location please, please hire someone who can play different types of music. I have lived 2 miles from you for ten years and never seen or heard anything but R&R bands in your place, enough already...Just Will
Our first visit to this restaurant was a very disappointing experience. It is unforfunate that we picked this restaurant to take 8 out of town guests. Never have I had such a tasteless, unproportioned, expensive meal, out of 10 the only edible plate served to us was the personal pizza. Service was good, no waitting and comfortable seatting. As a customer you always want to have a good meal with a good drink (Beer). this was not the case. We will not Return.
After hearing people rave about this place I tried it one night during the week and was very disappointed. I wasn't there for beer I was there for Pizza. I went with a friend and the place was about 3/4 full but by no means too busy to get service. We placed our order, sat and chatted for a little over an hour! When we were about to ask our server where our two slices with topping were another server brought them to us and they were huge and tasty looking! However, they were barely warm! They appeared to have once been "hot" and "ready" to serve but we were not too thrilled. Yes, we could have had them reheat our order or remake it but instead we ate some and took the rest home, it was better then next day after being heated! I'd rather go to Brooklyn! I realize this isn't the way they intended to serve us but they did! When in doubt, throw it out and let your customers know there was s problem then comp their order! Eric has done a fine job giving Tucson really good food and service in the past this was just one of those Oops situations! Next time I'll sit up front where I can see the orders come out!
I tryed to use an outside granite place to have a marker made ( which is our right) and they were not at all helpful. They did everything to make my life a living hell. Do not use this cemetery unless you want to be alive and go to hell with how they treat you.
Tried the pisco sours, which did NOT taste authentic, and some appetizers. Weren't impressed enoigh to return for dinner. I grew up in South America and was excited about this place opening, but my initial impression was disappointing.
There are alot of not so good mexican restaurants in Tucson but this place is especially bad. How bad? It's even worse than El Molinito.
We went to see the Nahui Ollin Aztec Dancers because the Weekly chose them as a pick of the week recently. We were totally disappointed. The dance "troupe" consisted of a middle-aged guy and his teenage son, and their gun nut friend whose job was to play a penny-whistle. The whistle-player only knew one sequence of five notes (so I can't really call it a "tune"), and played that same sequence over and over and over for every single dance. The younger dancer was okay, but his out-of-shape dad was huffing and puffing after the first dance. We were afraid he was going to have a heart attack right in front of us. Before and after every dance this guy would talk about his sacred cultural heritage, and fair enough. But having seen the real thing -- done WELL -- we agreed that this was just posturing in an attempt to curtail criticism. Lots of rolling eyes and low chuckling in the audience. Terrible.
I just went to Austin's and the everything was disappointing. The services is sooooo slow and the price of the food (diner food) is off the charts. They upcharge for french fries instead of chips and then they give you very little. The shakes don't come out with the meal but after you're almost finished eating and ready to go. I can't not express to you enough how overly priced the food is. Please choose another diner in the future.
I recently came back to Tucson after being gone for 9 years. When I saw the mention in the Best Of Tucson issue, I thought I would try one of my old favorites. Well, it's a shadow of what it once was. The food was pretty good but the home-baked bread is gone replaced by regular store-bought bread, and the once-yummy desserts now come from Costco.....really?? The worst part was when I witnessed someone come out from the kitchen and yell at the server who apparently had the audacity to be in the bathroom when we came in! I used to be a server so I pay attention to these things. She still gave us nice service and was very friendly but, based on all of the above I will not be back. The 1 star is because my omelet was ok.
Terrible service and mediocre food. I ordered a "patty melt" which consisted of a slab of beef and a piece of cheese on toasted white bread. I do not recommend this place to anyone.
Chile rellenos in the Tucson Area rated according to the Homeland Security Advisory System with three word descriptors.
Birriería Guadalajara: not microwaved enough. Green
Overated burgers and service with a frown!!
I would never spend a dime at Lindy's-terrble!!
Don't waste your time eating there! The service is slow and the employees are not friendly! You can get a better burger at In'n Out"!
Overall this restaurant boasts a TASTELESS Menu!.
My first hint that this would not be a pleasant dining experience came when my so called cup of Matzoh Ball soup was sampled.
Ugh! In the cup was a tasteless broth with a few bits of chicken and vegetables.
The matzoh ball looked and tasted like a bleached out tennis ball.
Thank goodness I only ordered half a pastrami sandwich, nothing more than a thick portion of the meat jammed between two slices of rye bread.
One of my friends had to send back her chopped liver sandwich, because it tasted spoiled.
The only enjoyable feature of the dining experience was the very personable young woman who was our server.
Save your money by purchasing the real thing in the ethnic aisle at your local supermarket.
I was very excited about going to Burger City for lunch. I'd read a good review in the Tucson Weekly's "Cheap Eats". But when myself and some co-workers arrived there, a lady met us at the (unlocked) front door with a frown and "We're closed." I peered about the room to see a dozen patrons of various ages happily enjoying their lunch.
The lady must have seen the puzzled look on my face, so she repeated, "We're closed."
That's it. No explanation, no apology, no nothing. Just randomly closed on a Wednesday at noon. WTF?
Re: “La Feruta's NY Pizza Café”
This _was_ La Ferlita's (Feruta's?) and it's been closed for at least four years. Now Giordano's. I liked La Ferlita's pizza better.
