Re: “Solar Culture

A feast for the eyes and ears. A very soulful, sensual place.

Re: “Chaco's Cafe

From the ambience, to the friendly staff, to the great food there is nowhere else in Tucson that I enjoy eating more. It is a must hit every time my family is in town!

Re: “Crying Onion Café

Awesome food, haven't had a mediocre meal ever since I started eating there. It's usually packed Sunday late-mornings, so get there early or be ready to wait for a table, it's a small-midsize restaurant.

Re: “Magic Tower Games

Best prices for cards. Fun atmosphere. Also, one of the top rated judges presides over the events. Good people. Good times.

Re: “Bianchi's

I tried this place years ago and never went back as I thought the food was mediocre and the place too loud. It can get loud but its really a great restaurant in an area of town with few choices of restaurants. Pizza is just fine, thin crust better than regular. Food portions are hugh and all the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Great staff. Beats dealing with a Brooklyn Pizza kind of place.

Re: “Beyond Bread

I do not understand this places' popularity. Like were is the meat? The sandwiches are hugh only because the bread is hugh with very little filling. And when I eat there which has only been twice in eight years, I worry about chipping a tooth.

Re: “V Fine Thai

Awful food. Seriously bad. The waitress I had had some big towel on her head, smelled like cabbage, and couldn't understand a thing I said. Padd Thai is a signature dish and any halfway decent Thai place should be able to pull it off. It was gross. We complained and someone who claimed to be the owner came over. Started telling us that it was a recipe from her grandmother. Who cares lady, it's BAD!!

Char's - Sorry I strayed. Never again!!!

Re: “Café Poca Cosa

The best food I've had in Tucson. I went last Septemeber for my birthday and again for Cinco de Mayo and then my mom, aunt and I resolved to go at least once a month. I always get the Plato Poca Cosa and give the chef free reign on what I eat and have never been disappointed. The chocolate mole is to die for.

Re: “Mad Mario's Italian Deli

Try it for Hot or Cold Sandwiches, Hot Italian entrees, even salads - this food rocks!
Careful, if you order the Chicken Parm sandwich... You'll start craving this place and be back again & again!

My favorite secret menu item - A Tuna Sandwich on a TOASTED roll. Trust me...

Re: “My Big Fat Greek Restaurant

Eating here was the worst dinning experience that I have ever had in any restaurant ever. I went with my grandparents and one of their elderly friends who had suggested the place and wanted to teat us. We started out by ordering a few appetizers and I bit into something rancid. We instructed the waitress to take away the remainder of that appetizer tray and to bring me a clean plate so I could finish sharing the other appetizers. She asked us if we wanted to order another appetizer and we said no, that would be fine, just bring a clean plate please. She did, and we went on. Then a guy, who I assume was the manager, actually brought the remainder of the appetizer plate back to our table and demanded to know who said that the food tasted rancid. I said I did. He said he didn’t understand and that he didn’t think that I knew what the word rancid even meant. That it meant rotten. I was blown away. I was trying to be discreet because the friend had highly recommended this restaurant and was picking up the tab, and now the manager is hovering over our table with the tray in hand, telling me that that it must be the balsamic vinegar that I’m tasting, and that I don’t know rotten, slimy spinach when I just spit it out of my mouth! To make things even worse, he goes on and on to tell me I should order something else, that If I think that tastes bad, than I’m not going to like the Greek salad that I ordered as a side dish to my entrée because that’s “just the way it tastes”. And you know what, I didn’t. It was completely bland and dry. But that’s besides the fact that no body enjoyed their meals after that absurd encounter. Being there with octogenarians, I didn’t react the way I wanted to. We tried to mumble through with some awkward jokes about him coming back out to ask me if I knew the definitions of more words, but it was still embarrassing. Can you imagine what would have been like if it was a dinner with clients or people from work? I will definitely never go there again with anyone, for any reason, and I suggest no one else does either.

Re: “Hideout Bar and Grill

Now repurchased by Jose, the original owner of Hideout West on Mission. It is clean and bright inside and out. Worth stopping by to check it out. Back to basics neighborhood bar with good food, drinks, and 14 flat screen HD TV's.

Re: “Boca

We went on a Friday night, there was only one person working and he had four sets of customers waiting. So the service was lacking a bit. I didn't take away any stars for this for two reasons. One, he let us know he had to send the other person working with him home that night because he was too sick to be working. Not his fault. And two, the food was so darn good, we didn't even care that the service was a tad bit slow. We ordered Carne Asada tacos, Camaron (beer battered) tacos, the Mar y Tierra (Surf and Turf) tacos and the Ranchero Style Whole Pinto Beans. Everything was made to order so when we got them they were still sizzling from the grill. Wow, were we blown away! They use rib eye and fresh shrimp for the Mar y Tierra with a drizzle of mustard on top. I am obsessed with this one and wanted to go back the next day to see if I was dreaming about it or if was truly one of the best tasting tacos I ever tasted, it was! The batter on the shrimp was very light, crispy, tasty and complemented the shrimp perfectly. The salsas served were delicious too.

Everything was fresh and the quality of the meat and shrimp made a huge difference in the flavor and experience. I've eaten at alot of taquerias in this town, this place is now my Numero Uno!

Re: “The Hideout

My wife and I went to the Original Hideout last Saturday night to meet our friends. Never having been there, we were a little worried with all the stories we've heard throughout the years... Well, let me put your mind at ease! As we pulled into the parking lot it was apperent this is the place to be on Saturday nights. It was a full lot. As we traversed the lot for the third time a security gaurd met us and directed us to a spot. I thought it very nice of the fellow. As we walked up to the door, there was quite a few people outside, we could here the music playing inside. It was a hot and muggy night, but inside was dark and cool. It was a packed house so we slowly made our way to the bar, three bartenders at the ready taking orders from the crowd, soon a beautiful bartender took our order and off we went to find our party. We found our friends at a table right off the dance floor, we squeezed in and enjoyed our drinks as the band started their second set of the night. Let me just say at this juncture, Los Bandidos, (house band for the 11 years, I later found out) is so great... they have the crowd jumping on the dance floor. Many couples don't even get off the floor, they just stop dancing. Growing up listening to my fathers music, I became an instant fan of Los Bandidos. They play all the classic Norteno/Conjunto music I have come to love and thought I would only here in old tapes and CD's. There hook is to play any song the patrons of this westside night spot ask for, I requested a few of my favorite tunes and was dancing to them within a few songs. I don't know why it took us so long to find this Saturday night gem, but we're regulars from now on.

Re: “Risky Business

The servers are very attentive and the food is consistent and very good. It is a wonderful locally owned spot where we grab a quick meal once a week.

Re: “Guiseppe's

The first time I went was lunch on the patio it was awesome,2nd time took freinds for dinner on patio,we had horrible service and managment gave us a $20 gift cert.Tried it again because I have always loved Scordatos family,There seemed to be plenty of help but service was really bad and slow ost dishes didn't come with ingredients as explained on menu. There were at least 3 managers on the floor but not really doin their job.Sorry to say we were so disappointed we won't be goin back.Manager should read his reveiws.I would rather have my dinner alittle late instead of cooks just throwing things together to get it out.Surprising and sad for Scordato's reputation.Bummed out!
