I don't know what the previous two commenters ate, but this place is actually pretty good. The pizza is flavorful, kind of a wheaty/honey crust that I enjoy. We've taken friends here also and they've always liked it. Service is fast and friendly, too. I guess the commenter above owes me $5, because I can honestly look him in the eye and tell him I enjoy Boston's!
This place is a keeper. Need I say more?
much needed fun and entertainment in the Foothills! Thanks!
Very good food and service, but bring your wallet!! Fleming's is chain but don't let that turn you off. While their Tucson location isn't their best it's still real good! Serious food for those who don't mind spending the bucks. This place is a notch or two above both Sullivan's and Mc Mahon's. For sure, Fleming's is a snob's paradise.
Haven't tried the food but Penelope at the bar is quick with service and very friendly. Drinks were cheap, around 3 bux for our Smirnoffs I think. The girl DJ was smokin and had us dancing all night!!!
Arguably the best Vietnamese restaurant in Tucson. The flavors are spot on! The service is fast and freindly. Best of all, you don't have to put up with the crowded noisy college atmosphere of Miss Saigon on a Friday night (or any other night for that matter).
You just don't get it. More for the rest of us!
So far the best Thai in Tucson (and I've had some of the best in LA). Nothing fancy, just good Thai food.
if you are a dive connoisseur then this is a must see. this is perhaps the best dive tucson has to offer. I went last night for my first time. I quickly learned that the best seats in the house face away from the stage... let me explain.
The bar is fairly complete and they have 2 pool tables that are in decent shape. The decor is very 70's... cheap paneling, amber glass covered light fixtures, booth seating, and concrete floors.... in the back corner there is a stage... The whole bar is well lit except for this corner so its almost like its not there... in fact there are few convenient places to sit where you can see the stage without turning.. The mens room smelled slightly worse than the los reales landfill and the odor spilled out into the bar every time anyone opened the door....(note... don't sit near the bathroom)
There were 5 girls working.... one was the bartender/owner... she wasn't dancing nor was she in a bikini or anything so I won't count her(incidentally she was by far the best looking). of the remaining 4, 1 was obviously pregnant, 1 was obese, 1 was wearing lots of makeup and sunglasses to hide her age... and the last one was decent looking but stayed outside in the smoking area the whole time and never came in to dance. The girls don't get topless on the stage, and I was not adventurous enough to go to VIP so I don't know what happens in there. Occasionally a girl would go up to the stage and dance... and they were generally fairly skilled gogo dancers.. but I once or twice had to question their overall motivation. At one point the girl with sunglasses went to sleep in one of the booths.
the patrons were a very blue collar crowd... well.. crowd is a lil bit of an overstatement... there were only maybe 15 customers(on a friday night at prime time). The average age was around 30. Nobody was mouthing off which was fairly relaxing after going to the traditional college haunts for the last few years.. I certainly wouldn't go in there lookin for trouble but I didn't feel the slightest bit unsafe.
Honestly... I had fun and will go back... its a dive bar for true dive bar fans... without the girls... without the bathroom.... without the crappy seating... it would just be another neighborhood bar.
Many of the diners choose Pho, a traditional Viet soup. I have Pho here often because it is as good as the best Pho anywhere including Viet Nam. It can be ordered with chicken, beef, pork or just the soup. It is a filling meal.
Good food here, but you have to pick and choose. Salads are better than Sweet Tomato as is the fruit. Steaks if cooked right are good.
Stay away from some of the fried stuff and nasty side dishes.
The best sushi serving size in town. Fresh too. Always pleasant Pak and Aoki serve you up light conversation, too. You may walk in but, after filling up, you'll need to roll out.
YUM. Great appetizers offered for half off during their happy hour. Something for every member of the family.
Our favorite place if we're just craving Japanese and don't feel like spending a fortune. Half off select sushi rolls every day and great lunch box menu.
The food here is not as good as La Parrilla Suiza, but is good and has a yummy dessert menu. The service is 9/10 times very good.
The pizzas here are absolutely delightful and satisfying. I'd say that this is the only pizza place in Tucson that rivals 1702.
Always a great place to eat if you are willing to spend the cash (menu is expensive but made fresh). Great wine list and great (but small) selection of dishes. The appetizers are really good too. Would not recommend the veal because of recent investigations that indicate the use of ham instead of veal.
Great pizza and great beer, however, the service is sometimes scant, understaffed, and takes a long time to get food and refills.
Re: “Meet Rack”
Great burgers and wild named drinks. Juke box and pool table. Ping pong on the patio. It's home of the aunt eater and God. A Tucson classic.
