Run of the mill food, overcrowded, barely fair to poor service, decent prices.
Its not thta Shell Shock is bad, they just have no soul. Very generic players. Good sound but you kinda get sick of them being in there every stinkin month. Bookin agent must be doing someone in the band...or all of em.
This is our second review - see 2011 review. Service continues to be a major issue at Opa. I asked twice for a drink refill. Put it this way. I ended up leaving my seat and walking over the beverage fountain to refill my glass myself. Awful! The free humus they give you remains very band too. But for five bucks the gyros during lunch are a deal. But don't add fries or a salad b/c you won't need all that extra food. Plus your five dollar meal will turn into an eight or nine dollar lunch.
I forgot to add a rating to my review a moment ago.
The first time I went was lunch on the patio it was awesome,2nd time took freinds for dinner on patio,we had horrible service and managment gave us a $20 gift cert.Tried it again because I have always loved Scordatos family,There seemed to be plenty of help but service was really bad and slow ost dishes didn't come with ingredients as explained on menu. There were at least 3 managers on the floor but not really doin their job.Sorry to say we were so disappointed we won't be goin back.Manager should read his reveiws.I would rather have my dinner alittle late instead of cooks just throwing things together to get it out.Surprising and sad for Scordato's reputation.Bummed out!
I've been here twice and I wasn't impressed either time. It seems like a horrible value. I ended up paying $17 (tip and tax included) for some grilled veggies, lettuce, pita bread, and hummus. The water tastes really funky. Their sign says vegetarian paradise, but I didn't find that many vegetarian items on the menu. I'm not going back.
At best 2 stars. Have had their biryani, that was ok, and a chicken dish that was inedible. No thanks.
I just do not get this places' popularity. THe owner has an attitude having taken over from his parents, the service is only fair and the portions very small. Its only because of the fact that there are so few restaurants on this end of town that this place stays busy.
Second time I have tried Panda Buffet and second time disappointed. Most dishes were barely warm, the chicken dishes were certainly not tender. The Mee noodles were tasty but not too warm. both shrimp dishes I tried, honey shrimp and another were badly prepared and almost powdery in texture. The Hot and sour soup was hot in temperature and spicy enough but lacked much in the way of tofu and vegetables. Service was good and friendly without being intrusive. The first time I went there I had a similar experience and thought it must have been an off day but now after going there for another time has proven to be the norm rather than the exception.
My wife and I are from NJ and couldn't wait to try the Italian subs for dinner one night a few weeks ago. It was a big dissapointment. The rolls tasted like they were at least a day old. The cold cuts/provolone are not the best quality and sliced way too thick. The chopped, not sliced cherry peppers are soaked in way too much vinegar, to the point of drowning out the other flavors. There were no seasonings, like a dusting of oregano, and the oil seemed to be a cheap vegtable oil, not a decent olive oil. So...fuggetaboutit. Wouldn't make it in Jersey.
I wish the best for this restaurant but overall, I was disappointed with the pizza. It was very creasy and the toppings spilled all over the place. Its not like the New York pizza I grew up with.
Oh.. and was not impressed with the names of many of the items in a vegetarian restaurant being called after meat dishes.
The sushi here is good, BUT the past three times I have gone (over the course of 1+ year), has been the worst I've experienced.
My husband I visited J Marinara's for lunch...it was so-so...definitely not worth the cost of their lunch menu. Improvement is needed or it will NOT survive...it's a tough strip center being that there is nothing to draw folks in - other than the car wash!
Had Breakfast at their Speedway/Kolb location, Nice clean and new place with great staff but High prices coupled with just OK bland food. The place has not changed since my last visit about 3 years ago. Won't be going back for awhile.
We tried it because we were getting hungry and wanted to eat something before shopping at Sunflower Market. Overall we weren't impressed. Sorta ugly building, very average food, slow service. Now we now better.
The hamburgers are rather small here. I ordered a guacamole burger and guacamole was more like a watery guacamole sauce, yuk! The fries were OK though. Service is typical Tucson. In other words, nothing special whatsoever. Overall the place isn't terrible. We just won't be rushing back.
Long Long Long wait for everything!! also, when i asked for a to go box, they brought a dirty one! ughhh!!! really?! very dissapointed
I agree with the previous review. Dinner prime rib has been very dissapointing, to the point of almost inedible one time. The wait staff for the most part is very upbeat and courteous, however, the last time we were there for dinner (last fall), my father (70's), asked for prime rib, medium well. It came out medium rare, and the server argued that the piece was medium well, and to deal with it. Needless to say, that ruined our entire evening. My prime rib was so full of grissle that I ate between the lines (literally), and not once did anyone come check on us, until it was check time. We did try to explain (twice, once to waitstaff, and once on the way out to the manager, who was non-existant throughout the entire night), why we left entire meals, but nobody seemed concerned, just explained that they were busy that night....(OK??). IMHO it's gone way downhill, and we won't be back. Too many other places that serve a good steak in town to bother with figuring out if that night's dinner will be acceptable or not or if the wait staff will be courteous or not. (FYI: my father said it would need to be the last place in Tucson before he ever goes back). Now the other items on the menu other than red meat seem to look very good and the appetizers are pretty good. If anyone has a good experience with their steaks/prime rib, and it seems to be coming back to what it used to be, I'd like to hear them, only then will I consider it to be of the same quality as other restaurants in the area...C'mon we're talking La Encantada here....
Re: “Blue Willow”
Mediocre at best. I've tried it several times over many years, never a good meal. Always expensive and lousy service.
