Re: “Nimbus Bistro and Brewery

I'm the non beer drinker in our group and if a brew pub can keep me as happy as the rest of the bunch, it's a great place.

Their version of the mojito is excellent- plenty of fresh muddled mint and a slice of orange, quite strong and not too sweet but intensely flavored.

Another plus- their beer battered fish and chips arrives at the table hot and crisp and the wait staff cheerfully substituted sweet potato fries for the usual ones.

Re: “November Bar and Cabaret

ZERO dancers , expected music, lousy mixed drink prices, The 'owner' was outside the club....claiming 'they' sold the place a long time ago.....(meaning the asian woman I met at least 2 yrs ago) DARK dank , uninviting.....The 'owner' was NOT friendly , had to answer his cell phone, and acted very defensive when I approached the entrance to the joint. This is just days after the SHOOTING, in which two employees were shot by some freak who , yes, got away. It was a mexican male as the local news reported. This place seems rather hostile because of this.

Re: “Boondocks Lounge

At the sign of the Big Bottle they have the finest unpretentious music venue in town. Great musicians (mostly local, but some blues stars also turn up), a well-used dance floor, pool tables, no pseudos, no pressure to drink. They also put on rockin' benefit performances when the need arises; does that make 'em Boondocks saints?

Re: “The Hut

I'm rarely out for night life, but if I'm shopping on 4th Ave. The Hut is the perfect place to rest my tootsies while I sip a Moose Drool, then beat my husband at pool! Just kidding, Baby...

Re: “River's Edge Lounge

Unless this place was rebuilt, this place is a fire trap with ancient wiring, mold everywhere and bathrooms that need to be rebuilt. Last winter the bathroom floors were underwater.
Music can be good, but the bar is a dump.
Anyone who gave this place 5 stars must work there.
My girlfriend will never go there again and we love to dance. We call this place, 'The Sewer's Edge.'

Re: “El Charro Café on Oracle

A disappointment. Major problem with portion control. The famous carne seca platter came with a 1/4 - 1/3 pound portion of beef not the 1/2 pound as listed on the menu and the sides have also shrunk. The pozole stew was too much broth.

Re: “The Office Bar

The people running this place were rude, unprofessional, and the service was ridiculous. Not to mention how the staff reeked of marijuana. I would not recommend this place.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

The Skybox is a great place to go. We think the food is great and so is the service. My favorite band is the Boogie Oogies because they play great dance music and are great entertainers.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

Hey Caliman what band in Tucson do YOU think is good? Oh by the way have you yet to find a bar or restaurant in Tucson that you actually like because you give thumbs down to everyplace you review.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

Just another lame watering hole really. By the way. Have bars stopped hiring good entertainment around here or is it that all the better bands travel up to Phoenix to play?

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

Skybox's atmosphere and entertainment are far better than expected for a Tucson watering hole and dance place. The bands on Friday and Saturday evening play oldies and pop and are the best dancing with class Tucson has had to offer in a long time. The servers are very professional and friendly. The food is of good quality and the price is not bad. It far exceeds places on Tanque Verde, Swan and Ft. Lowell, Campbell and River or Campbell and Skyline as a place for professionals to meet on Friday evening.

Re: “Magical Mystery Dinner Theater

This place is incredible! It’s a delicious 3-Course candle-lit dinner being served as part of the story line of a hilarious interactive murder mystery whodunit 3-act play. The play's set at a magic show so we got to see some magic performed and someone actually sawn in half. Volunteers from the audience are allowed to come on stage for some of the scenes. Someone even wins a prize at the end for solving the mystery. Everyone had a great time and we'd def go back again.

Highly Recommended... YOU WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED!

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

Terrible service. Have been a few different times. Food only so-so. My husband & I ordered a hamburger to split and they tacked on a split plate charge! We don't mind paying a split plate charge when they actually bring additional sides but we're talking about a hamburger that was simply cut in half! When we complained, the waitress was rude and corrected the bill but then threw it across the table at us. Have written two letters to the owner about this incident with zero response. This place obviously does not care about custmer service or service recovery.

Re: “Coffee Exchange

Decent place to study if you're a college kid. As for the beverages? Coffees aren't good at all, not just my opinion, and the chai tea is terrible.

Re: “O'Malley's

I have been listening to bands in Tucson for 35 yrs, and 80's and Gents is one of the best cover bands I have heard. Yes, they use a little canned background stuff but they have to in order to pull off some of the songs they do for a four piece. gary
