Great margaritas, especially at happy hour. Love the fresh salsa, and the enchiladas de calabacitas are excellent!
The parking lot is overflowing every time I drive by, the secret must be out.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! I have tried several meals and every one of them ~delicious! Lupita's has the best salsa; when I go to the register to pay my bill, I buy a quart! And their service is just as good as their food. I am so glad Lupita's came to Northwest Tucson!!
I would not recommend the cazuelitas event center. I had my wedding there in April and the service was horrible. The contract we signed was not followed as promised. The wedding cake that was supposed to be included in the package was made out of frosted wood. Who in their right mind has a fake wedding cake. Tried to call and complain but the owner was not available. The staff assigned that night could not believe it either. To top it all off the owner is my new wifes family. If that's how they treat family imagine what they do to those that are not related. As of today they have not called to see how everything went. They don't deserve the one star I gave them. Maybe a quarter of a star.
Bottom line is El Charro sucks, regardless of location. They don't even heat up their Americanized, pre-made food enough. Come on guys. At least heat your crap up a little longer in the microwave before you serve it.
This kind of a late entry as we ate here a few months back. Verdict? OK food. Basically a 5 on a scale of 1 to 10. About the anti SB1070 comment from john127. If that's true about not speaking English to customers I won't be back either. This same thing happens to me every time I go to the deli section at all Food City stores. The women actually give me an attitude for not ordering in Spanish. This is totally unacceptable! If you dislike America why are you here? Oh that's right. The free government handouts. I forget.
Not fancy but with really well made food. The menu is limited, which in this case, is good, as every thing is home/scratch made. Service is very freindly albeit bit slow, but after a Margarita or two, who cares. This could become a very nice neighborood cantina.
We tried it because we were getting hungry and wanted to eat something before shopping at Sunflower Market. Overall we weren't impressed. Sorta ugly building, very average food, slow service. Now we now better.
I only gave them three stars, because they put cheese in their guacamole! It is always a sign of bad guacamole when restaurants/suppliers try to stretch out their guac with cheese or sour cream. A little more authenticity would go a long way!
THE BEST green chili in town!
I agree with the last comment. Horrible experience the last time I was having dinner outside. The silverware was dirty, and I saw a cockaroach lying on it's back underneath the next table. I informed those in charge, and no action seemed to be taken. Wonder what the kitchen is full of
Yeah the food is good... when you get it! The service is ridiculous!! I guess quality service isn't what it used to be to say the least. I waited an hour for 2 measly tacos, and asked to speak to the manager. He didn't care one bit. Luckily my server did, and even commented that she would've done the same thing. The manager is a coward and an idiot. I refuse to go back!! It's cheap food so I guess it's expected that they don't care either... enjoy!
the restaurant is gorgeous. the food is mediocre. located in sahuarita.
I actually drove down to this location to meet a friend. We had lunch. Bottom line is that regardless of their location the food is sincerely crappy. Menu items have a very precooked, processed, heat and serve quality to them. Not good. The service at this location was real slow also. Had we gone to Jerry Bobs which is in the same plaza we could have had an equally disappointing truck stop like meal.
I lived in Tucson for 38 years, I ate at Michas at least once a week for many of those years. The best breakfasts, best Chimichangas, best machaca in town. I left Tucson five years ago and one for the things I miss most is Machaca and Eggs at Michas.
About a year ago I made a brief visit to the Old Pueblo, Michas was still there, the food still good and now I miss it even more.
Pros: Chips and salsa are good. Cons: The meats they serve, chicken, pork, and beef are of somewhat low quality. We went to Guadalajara Grill two times. First time I had their chicken mole dish. Not good at all. The chicken they used for this dish was obviously strips of the frozen variety. Honestly, the chicken reminded me of the same stuff that's on a fast food salad from McDonald's. The mole sauce? Terrible. The next time, and last time we went, I had carnitas. The meat just didn't have a good fresh taste. Oh well!
Maria Bonita on Oracle has closed. We are disappointed as it was our favorite Mexican food restaurant. Anyone at Tucson Weekly know why? Thank you.
I love this place! Great food (had the fajitas, burros, seafood). Servings are large - I am able to take 1/2 home for lunch next day. Great beans. Good Margaritas. (Happy hour they are only $3!) Women will make salsa at your table - free, but they have a basket for donations.
It is one of the few restaurants in Tucson I will wait for a seat to open up. (FYI...not many around. Since Tucson is so blessed with so many great restaurants we can usually find one with no wait, even on weekends.)
I started eating at Micha's MANY years ago -- before the bar and extra seating were added to accomodate patrons of this Tucson gem of Norteno Cuisine -- in a pleasant, economic and unpretentious setting.
When I say many yeaqrs ago -- I mean when I was editing newspapers that required me to be at a printing plant in South Tucson early in the morning -- so I would hit Micha's for some of the best Machaca and Eggs and/or Chorizo and eggs at the no longer extant breakfast counter with other journalists who used the counter as an informal answer to press club hangovers.
Most often lately as a retired persopn I get there for lunches when I go to the nearby VA hospital. The Machaca is still the most exceptional have had in my 69 years -- and their Albondigas is a tradition. It is almost impossible for a npormal person to finish their tasty Burros -- and their Chimis are always crisp and lite.
AND -- it is a family restaurant -- with prices moderate to low for the family. THE OTHER SIDE OF THE EQUATION -- is that the same family that established Michas is the same family (second and third generation) the runs it today. The wait staff DOES NOT MAKE YOU WAIT. Fast, attentive and efficient -- some of these folks have been working at Michas for more years that I can remember --- and have waited on me literally hundreds of times over the years.
BE AWARE -- that on Fridays there is sometimes a short wait to get a table for lunch -- but once inside everything makes up for the very few minute delay.
The chocolate cake and the views is enough to keep you going back... and the food is good too!
