Good used book store. Frequent events. I've seen everything from book signings to reptile displays. Free wifi. For sale are movies, CDs, decorations, video games, musical instruments, board games, puzzles, and I think they have a used book or two there also...
They don't always have what I'd call bargain basement prices but the selection as well as the overall feel one gets when visiting bookman's is nice.
Best thing about this Bookmans is the vast selection and funky staff. Plus you can go next door to get coffee, sandwiches, and/or a chocolate to die for cake. There is also wifi, so why not? Of course you're not going to get many new releases here, but you can always trade them in here. And since I'm an audiobook fan, let me put in a plug for those who have yet to try them. This is a good place to find some classics and full cast audiobooks for car and home. Once you're hooked, you'll be downloading them regularly. --J.L. TowerReview.com
On July 10, a group of writers, known collectively as Gecko Gals Ink, held a book signing at Bookmans on Grant Road. On behalf of that collection of sassy Tucson authors who are 'differently expertised', I'm extending a sincere thank you to Travis Tripp, the manager, as well as to all the employees in that location, for making our experience one we will long remember.
Despite predictions of rain, a continual throng of book sellers and buyers packed that venue , allowing us to have truly inspiring chats with readers of all genres. Readers are the reasons writers have put pen to papyrus and paper, and fingers to keyboards over the centuries.
It was heartening to watch and talk to Tucson readers – including the kids (thank you parents). Keep on reading and supporting Independent bookstores – and we'll keep on writing and reading and supporting Independent bookstores.
What a fantastic community are the readers and writers. On behalf of Gecko Gals Ink, I am Mary Ann Hutchison (Carol Costa, Jude Johnson, D. H. Palmer and Ashleen O'Gaea). Watch for us at the other Bookmans and Independent book stores in and around Tucson or join us at http://geckogalsink.blogspot.com
Great independent bookstore with friendly, knowledgeable staff! you'll find not only new bestsellers but local authors' works from small presses, used books, a fun selection of cards, shirts, jewelry and "schtuff" for unique gifts. Truly a Tucson Gem!
What a Great Store! It is A Mystery Bookstore with Every Kind of Mystery You Would Ever Need. And if They Dont Have it, They Will Get It... Even Non-Mystery! Thumbs Up To Clues Unlimited!!!
Re: “Barnes and Noble”
Sad what has happened here. This was an excellent book store at Christmas but since then the chairs and many of the books are gone.
