The Metzger is excellent. It was my favorite of the 3 specialty tacos. Served with au jus? Creative. Although it was plain as day, I had to ask what it was because it was a surprise to see it accompany a taco. Don't dip it, just dump it on top.
Time your visit for 645pm on a Sunday. Sit on the patio and you'll get an eyeful when Hi Fi across the street raises those massive sunscreens. It's a PG13 glass fishbowl. What a party! Video wall, DJ on stage and Go Go Girls dancing in silhouette on the bar.
Say what you want to about the spotty "service" but I see the General Manager humping it the whole time. That's good enough for me.
As for people constantly wanting to F I L L themselves: those who live in fat asses should not throw stones. Ya Taco Bell pig out monkeys. Stay out of our way if it's possible to move your fat ass aside far enough for others to pass.
Leruas does stand out because of the best tamales anywhere. The enchiladas are great and the prices are very good. Numerous combination plates equal great deals.
This place is awesome, for all your mexican food needs. The drive through option is heads above your typical drive through mexican. The dinner plates are very tasty as well, although to onion heavy.
Where this place really shines though, are the breakfast plates. You have not lived until you have had the red chili pork tamales with fried eggs on top!
Very good food and an excellent selection! I'm glad I live close by. P.S. I spoke Spanish and was answered in English!
Maria's Taco Salsas are pure magic they are so fresh and delicious, with creative ingredients. The place is small, yet a diamond with the best tacos in Tucson for this experienced gourmand of Mexican culinary delights.
Tried their Sunday Taco-bar buffet. Mexico City-style, slow-cooked, full-flavored meats are exceptional. Weekday menu excellent. One of the best shredded beef chimichangas I have eaten! Great fresh food totally prepared in Gabby's kitchen, even the chips. If you like good, simple food, check it out. I am going back for the buffet for sure.
La Olla isn't your average run of the mill Mexican restaurant like all the others in town. So far we found their meals to be tasty with a slightly different flare to them. The refried beans are by far the best we've had in Tucson. Lunch prices are really cheap too. We're not saying we love everything here, the chili rellenos aren't great. Like most places, they're pretty small. But overall this place is a nice welcome.
Great margaritas, especially at happy hour. Love the fresh salsa, and the enchiladas de calabacitas are excellent!
The parking lot is overflowing every time I drive by, the secret must be out.
This food is goooood! Excellent flavors, homey feel. Fun art interior.
Great old time Tucson place. Best Mexican chorizo I've ever had!
I love this little place. The chile rellenos are excellent. The soups, filling and tasty, are served with a choice of corn/flour tortillas. It's a family run business [no, I'm not part of the family]. I've been so often that I know them, tho! The pan dulces can be taken home and so can the soups. When you sit in the small dining area you are down in Mexico, as the lovely mural fills the wall with rural scences that include an active volcanco.
I like it! Happy hour is great.
This is the real deal in spite of the hype of the past decade since "the president" dined here. The food is authentic; fattening and rich in Sonoran style sauces and traditions. The building is but a hole in the wall but it's owners and staff put out flavorful favorites; my personal pick: chicken enchiladas. You'll have a wait if you go at normal mealtimes. My advice: go at an off hour and enjoy!
Teresa's is the only decent restaurant in a 5-mile radius from home -- and I eat there weekly. The service is great, the food is well-prepared and the platinum margarita's are delicious. Varied specials are always good. Peak evenings in the winter months can mean a 20-30 minute wait. Fortunately, platinum margaritas are available to help you while away the time.
I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. I was put off by the whole drive thru thing but truth be told, a delicious mexican resturant that does authentic sea food and a six pack of negro modello though a window?!?! You can't beat that shit!! Plus sitting and eating was nice as well.
Nice place, old time Tucson feel. Really like that they have full menu from the time they open. Great old fashioned patty tacos.
One of the top Mexican restaruants in town, I've been eating there for 40 years. Best chimi by far (not the grease bombs you find elsewhere) Everyone knows the green corn tamales are the best anywhere.Fond, fond memories of eating there during H.S. (THS) With my buddies.
The food here is not as good as La Parrilla Suiza, but is good and has a yummy dessert menu. The service is 9/10 times very good.
Tasty and affordable, but never ask them to make something that is not strictly on the menu, like put potatoes into a breakfast burrito. They give you nasty looks and cook it the way they want to, i.e. potatoes were served on the side.
