We opted for this restaurant for our Sunday lunch and I am thrilled to have found a diamond in the rough! Since moving here from the Bay Area years ago, we usually wait to eat Thai on our visits back to CA, but not any more. The dishes we chose were nothing short of amazing, including the tofu spring rolls, Gang Garee, and Tom Yum Gai. The crushed peanut sauce for the spring rolls was a delightful nuance to add to the appetizer's appeal. The Gang Garee was an experience that makes me want to get it again next time and yet I'm dying to try the other dishes to see if they have the same complexity of flavors and aromas. Very reasonably priced and served promptly, I only have two words of caution. First, don't be deterred by the appearance of the place itself (very clean and comfortable, just a little plain.) Second, pay attention to the pepper meter on the menu. The Gang Garee is a single pepper rating, but was about as spicy as I can comfortably go, and the Tom Yum Gai is a solid 3 for intensity of spiciness as well as flavor. I can't wait to take our next visitors from out of town!
Love this place. The food, service and atmosphere are excellent :) They are slightly expensive, but it evens out if you go during happy hour. Great fries and wine selection! I've never had anything I didn't like there.
I've had a lot of things from their menu over the times I've been there and have always loved it. Favorites include their messy fries, ribs and the ice cream! Always pleasant service, too. Highly recommend!
Wow, I'm shocked at the bad reviews on here. There's 0% chance that a anyone had an experience like that-- and those users only ever gave one review....hmmmm. They are always kind to everyone and have some of the best tasting food in Tucson. I hope people see past the negativity and give it a shot. It's my go-to for lunch dates with friends I meet up with downtown. The only bummer is they only accept cash-- but I go at least twice a month so obviously it's not a deal breaker lol. They have like 4(?) kinds of fresh juice and their combination plate is always an enjoyable surprise. I highly recommend their chicken mole and their vegetarian tamale :)
I have eaten here a number of times now and enjoyed the food, service and ambiance more than any other Indian restaurant I've ever been to. I felt so confident in this restaurant that I finally talked my son-in-law from England into trying it!! After 12 years in the states he said he finally found a proper Indian restaurant! Being from England and being that Indian food is his favorite, I think that is a great compliment! Keep up the superb work Saffron!
Weekend wine tastings at CataVinos are fantastic. Along with your 6 tastes (amazingly priced at just $10.00!!!) you get gourmet cheese as well as palette cleansers. Yvonne also has a really nice assortment of reasonably priced cheeses, meats, and crackers for purchase to accompany your wine. After your tasting you can purchase a glass of your choice for just $5.00. Each week the wine list is built around a clever theme so you can go every weekend and be sure to taste completely different wines. I've gone there on a whim on my own, planned with friends, and had many personal parties there and I always bring out of town guests there. The atmosphere is lovely both inside the shop and outside on the patio. This is one of the best spots for Tucson fun and a great way to support local business!
need to remove this. no longer there
We love the LIttle Poca Cosa. The food fresh and delicious, and the service warm and friendly. In fact, we are heading out with our family in about 5 minutes to enjoy another thoroughly enjoyable lunch at our favorite little corner restaurant in Tucson ..
The food is very good, different from other sushi restaurants because it also has Mexican food and the tacos are the best!!
Onolicious local kine grinds from local boy and girl. Reasonable prices, friendly service. Ey, where else you going get malasadas and poi in the desert?
Coyote Pause is a delightful place to eat breakfast or lunch on the west side of the Tucson Mountains. The menu features items using local ingredients, everything is tasty and prepared properly. Service is friendly and efficient. We eat here whenever visiting the big city.
One of my very favorite places to eat breakfast in Tucson. The carne asada breakfast burrito is Tucson's best. The biscuits, available on the weekend, are superb, and again the best in Tucson. I also like the bagel and lox plate. In terms of lunch/dinner, I enjoy the pasta alla vodka (pay the extra $ and get the sausage on top), as well as the fish tacos. Wait staff are nice and attentive, and it's a great place to have a conversation (meaning, you aren't impeded by too-loud music or bad acoustics as happens too much in Tucson).
We have been going to Gueseppi for the last year or so. I wanted to add a current review here.
The food is really really good. I had the Shrimp Picatta last night. It had plenty of perfectly cooked shrimp, artichoke, spinach and capers in a wine butter garlic sauce and served over linguinni. This is one of the best restaurant dishes I have ever had anywhere. It was a special but they said to just ask for it anytime and they would make it. The eggplant parm here is also the best in town. The prices are very reasonable and service has always been great for us.
Always a joy to stop in at Cata Vinos. Yvonne and the staff are always so helpful in helping find the right wine for my tastes. So many wonderful wine to choose from, and it isn't necessary to bust my budget on pricey wines. Highly recommended.
great food and even better the price ,they had large portions of delicious home made food, with prompt and polite service, the daily specials are excellent,i recommend to everyone.
I allways order their shrimp lomein it is the best I've had in Tucson they give you alot of shrimp too and they are a good size love it!!
Been a while, thought they closed m now that I see they are open I will be a regular again, best Japanese noodles ever!!!! So yummy
Great wines, great prices, and best of all the staff and shoppe are animal friendly! Cuvee the dog and Vino the cat are wonderful additions to this lovely shoppe. Wines from around the world, fabulous bargains for Wine Club members, with an option to donate a small monthly amount to local charities. Do us all a favor and skip the Big Box Wine stores!
Probably the best ribeye i have ever had. My wife said her filet was equally as good. This place is a hidden gem. Some friends suggested we give this place a try and we are so glad we did. I am putting this restaurant in my all time top five. Somehow I found room for dessert and the chocolate mousse was killer.
