My wife and I are from NJ and couldn't wait to try the Italian subs for dinner one night a few weeks ago. It was a big dissapointment. The rolls tasted like they were at least a day old. The cold cuts/provolone are not the best quality and sliced way too thick. The chopped, not sliced cherry peppers are soaked in way too much vinegar, to the point of drowning out the other flavors. There were no seasonings, like a dusting of oregano, and the oil seemed to be a cheap vegtable oil, not a decent olive oil. So...fuggetaboutit. Wouldn't make it in Jersey.
Let me start where I am coming from. When HiFalutin first opened my wife and I went and had the most horrible experience: slow, bad service, cold food, sending it back twice, and horrible wait times, in a very noisy crowded atmosphere. Even talking to the owner about the issues seem to elicit a "Meh!" attitude. So bad we walked out after 2 hours and not paying.
Fast forward maybe 8 years and for some reason my wife got spammed on their email list. Communications ensued and we were offered a gift card in an effort to try them again. OK, so we thought as they were still around after 8+ years they must have some sort of following.
We decided to go there 5:30pm Monday, the 22nd of August with friends and it was like night and day. We had a couple of happy hour $3 appetisers and then I had the $17 top sirloin steak with the wife lashing out on the $25 filet, both were cooked exactly as we asked them to be and were very tasty. The sides were good and hot, as hot food should be. Our friends both had enjoyable chicken dishes.
The service was somewhat inattentive but absolutely nothing like the abysmal service just after opening.
Would we recommend them now? Certainly and I'll stop bitching to friends about how bad they were 8 years ago :-)
I used to go all the time as it was the only decent restaurant close to my house. After a bad experience and even worse experience correcting the problem, I have not been back in three years.
Prosciutto is the Italian word for ham. Some people don't know that and it is translated on the menu. We have a wonderful pork ossobuco with porcini mushroom and white wine sauce. We don't advertise it as veal ossobuco. People love this dish and the person that criticized it never even tried it. I have the feeling I know who that person is. I wasn't aware that Walmart was carrying wines because I never shop there. We are as authentic as it can be. If you want to practice your Italian, please come over. I was born in Italy and lived there half of my life. I hate former employees who don't have a job and don't have better things to do but write fake reviews
I wish the best for this restaurant but overall, I was disappointed with the pizza. It was very creasy and the toppings spilled all over the place. Its not like the New York pizza I grew up with.
I think the food at Caruso's is great! I have never been disappointed. The house salad dressing they have is so delicious I am always asking for more bread to dip in it. I am very happy that there is a place in Tucson that has history, great food and good service!
Great vibe, and a must for a light meal or drinks after attending an event downtown. Steak (now pork) frites was well-cooked and appropriately seasoned; mac & cheese was rich without being overwhelming. Featured cocktails change from time to time, and the adventurous won't be disappointed. Can feel a little understaffed at busy times, but the service remains cheerful and efficient.
Beer selection is excellent, with a few local-ish brews and a ton of ones from places you may never have heard of. Pizza is serviceable, with a crispy crust and decent toppings. Service can be slow, even during the summer months--plan to linger.
Yuck, Digusting! Homemade? Uh.... try costco bought. Rude owners and rude servers! don't waste your money just go somewhere else.
Best shrimp tacos ever! And the family is very kind, always friendly. Service is always excellent.
I arrived at 6:15 p.m on a Wednesday. I gave one star because there was no zero rating. Why?
#1. The atmosphere was dingy, dirty and broken down. The carpet had more food stains than the steam table at it's worst. There were holes in the carpet. I noticed wet cleaning rags left on the floor in various corners of the serving stations.
#2. The food, if you can call it that was unlabeled. You were not always sure what you were selecting. The food was tepid to cool at best. No one was at the carving station. The ham looked like it had been around for a day too long to be eaten. The food basically tasted like it had remained in the same steam-table pan since the lunch hour, rather than replacing the old pan with a fresh pan of hot food.
#3. The soft serve ice cream machine was broken. Yet there was soft serve drippings on the nozzles and on the catch tray. The dessert station was woeful. One or two crumbled pieces of cake on a cake plate. Three or four cookies here or there on different trays. A few dishes of each selection on trays. It looked like the day's before leftovers.
#4. The help were basically helpful and courteous. No complaints about them.
All-in-all, if you're looking for a fair-priced enjoyable dinner buffet, avoid this one!
I go here all the time, the half sushi roll everyday can't be beat. My family is also a fan of the lunch box menu. The service staff seems to change a lot, but I can't say I've ever had bad service.
I truly enjoyed the ‘Bubby’s Chicago Style’ dining experience because the food is simply yummy! My youngest boy and his friends frequent the place, and each said I should try the Chicago dog… On my first visit, I tried their Chicago dog and was impressed. Not because I’ve been to the East coast and know everything, but because it pleased my taste buds, and so much that I ordered a second. I’ve returned to enjoy other menu items and found the charbroiled taste that comes with their burgers or chicken salad to be perfect!
The staff appears to be neighborhood youth with a hint of shyness but eager and responsive. Bubby’s Chicago Style provides the three basic ingredients for success: Great food, great service and respect for their customers.
Great place for happy hour.

A bit on the pricey side with above average food. The service was outstanding and a nice clean atmosphere. The Veal dish that I had was Good (but a tiny bit salty) and the Sauce on the Spaggetti tasted like it was from a can.
This place is a nice date place with a nice romantic setting.
Maria Bonita was a wonderful place for a family, also with very delicious food. My family and I loved it. We were truly sad when we saw it closed. I seriously hope to see a Maria Bonita opened once more, but from my understanding why this family restaurant closed was in fact for the building, not completely sure but the owner had said that the building was in bad bad condition. Anyways hope to see it open once again, and if does my family and i will in fact be there.
I couldn't have enjoyed my experience more. The IPA was delicious, as were the burger and onion rings. Nice adult atmosphere and the service was good. I look forward to more visits in the future.
Oh.. and was not impressed with the names of many of the items in a vegetarian restaurant being called after meat dishes.
