As one of the Fox Concepts restaurants (e.g. Wildflower, Zinburger), Sauce has been wonderfully executed.
You order at the counter, find your seat, and they bring the food to your table. Nothing novel there, however all Sauce restaurants have a comfortable, clean, spacious, modern setup; this quality is also reflected in the service and food.
Sauce's menu is simple and consists of thin crust pizzas, a variety of salads, paninis, pastas, and sides. There is a delectable daily soup that changes every three days; the star being their Tuscan tomato.
Everything here is good quality, but the pizzas reign, as do the salads.
Prices at Sauce are very reasonable, which is one reason I really recommend them. They have the perfect balance of price and quality.

There's about 3-4 places in town where you can get a real NY slice, this is one of them. Really enjoyed it. Only gave 'em 4 stars because I haven't tried anything else, but I will!
Beer selection is excellent, with a few local-ish brews and a ton of ones from places you may never have heard of. Pizza is serviceable, with a crispy crust and decent toppings. Service can be slow, even during the summer months--plan to linger.
Great selection & fresh pizzas, topping combos range from classic to new inventions. Be sure to schedule extra time if you go during lunchtime.

Must have been a bad day for darbone - I was there for dinner with two friends last Friday - 10-29 and had a WONDERFUL experience. Very attentive and friendly server, water served right after we were seated and the wine list offered. We split the very generous Caprese salad (no grey prosciutto here) which was wonderfully fresh right down to the very red and tasty tomatoes! We then split 2 pizzas - the Quattro Formaggi (wouldn't have minded just a TAD more cheese) and a special that night with sliced Italian sausage, red and green peppers, onions and lots of cheese. We were in no hurry as we were all catching up on each other's lives and never felt rushed at all. Finished the meal with one of their skillet cookies (chocolate chip with vanilla bean ice cream) and a white chocolate Pannacotta with blackberries. YUM! I know that the Dove Mountain VA has a larger menu but it was WAY too far for 2/3 of our group. We didn't feel cheated one bit by the Swan Road location! 4 stars instead of 5 due to the fact that the cheese pizza needed more cheese!
For those of you that have a gluten sensitivity and miss pizza, eclectic delivers great tasting gluten-free pizza... at a cost. The pizza and other gluten free menu items seem really overpriced, especially when compared to the regular menu items. The ambiance is kind of awkward. It's in a strip mall along busy Tanque Verde. But the service has been consistently good and the pizza ingredients are fresh, local and organic when possible and delicious. They even serve gluten free beer! Overall, I would ignore the quirks and support this great Tucson business offering an option for Celiacs and gluten sensitive folks.
First, the food is fantastic, but it is a bit pricey for what you get. The atmosphere of the place seems sort of confused between Hooters and Applebees: it is family friendly, despite the attractive waitresses wearing shirts with sexual innuendo. My biggest gripe (the reason they lose a star) is that the place feels sickeningly corporate despite being a local (Arizona) chain. I wish they'd drop the short silent clip-reel of 40s/50s films and just let the customers watch real TV. However, the food is certainly good enough and interesting enough to get me to drop by every so often.
If you go expecting good pizza, you'll be disappointed. But the selection of beers on tap is unprecedented for a Tucson restaurant. When I went there were more beers on tap than I could count, each served in proper glassware. IPAs, porters, lagers, trippels, wheat beers, milk stouts, you name it. The best part: they rotate out their beers on a regular basis, so you can always order something new.

I don't know what the previous two commenters ate, but this place is actually pretty good. The pizza is flavorful, kind of a wheaty/honey crust that I enjoy. We've taken friends here also and they've always liked it. Service is fast and friendly, too. I guess the commenter above owes me $5, because I can honestly look him in the eye and tell him I enjoy Boston's!
The pizzas here are absolutely delightful and satisfying. I'd say that this is the only pizza place in Tucson that rivals 1702.
Great pizza and great beer, however, the service is sometimes scant, understaffed, and takes a long time to get food and refills.
Great beer selection but service is way too slow and they don't care. That may work on Friday night when you want people to linger, but at 12 on a Tuesday people need to get back to work. UA staff gets an hour for lunch, I once took my office there and got in trouble because it took us 1.5 hours to get back. Not good!
Finally went here after hearing a friend say the pizza was good. I went for a lunch special, salad and a two-topping slice of pizza for about $7. Verdict. The salad was rather good (not blow you away good, but pretty darn good). As for the pizza. The slice was plenty big but only decent tasting. It had an almost Bisquick-like crust quality and taste to it. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I wasn't disappoint with my meal at all. However, I expected it to be better since my friend raved about the place. I do agree with the previous post in that the service is friendly. Still, Grimaldi's is the place for truly great pizza in Tucson.
I liked this place when it wasn't as well known, but the popularity of the place has exacerbated some of its worst drawbacks. For starters, it's deafeningly loud even when it's only somewhat busy; there's no sound-absorbing material whatsoever and even a few conversations can create a roar, especially because the TV is also usually turned up high. There's something up with the climate control, as well, because the temperature ranges from uncomfortably warm to cool enough to require a sweatshirt, with no correlation to the temperature outside.
All that aside, go for the beer, not the food. As other reviewers have noted, the pizza slices don't come in any size but gargantuan--way more food than I actually want--and if you add a couple of toppings, a slice will run you 8 bucks or more. I don't want to spend $8 on any pizza slice, but especially not the mediocre slices they have here: the sauce is fairly bland and there's something strange about the dough. The salads are pretty good--I've never had one with veggies that weren't fresh-- but also huge.
The beer selection is one of the very best in town, and Angie (the Aussie) is one of the most knowledgeable tap-people around (plus she's really friendly and outgoing). If you're not sure what to order, tell her what you like; she'll make some suggestions and bring you some tastes.
I have to agree with Jeff; I would not advise going here if you are solely looking for a quality pie. The pizza is adequate, but unexceptional. 1702 is really about atmosphere. It's an awesome place to kick back with friends; the energy here is great. Lots of happy, beer-buzzed folks having a good time with their group.
As Jeff mentioned there are more beers on tap than you could shake a fist at. So, definitely come here if you are looking for a variety of beers on tap.
To sum it up: great ambience, exceptional beer, ho-hum food.
The first pizza i consumed from this restaurant, was a regular flat pizza, and, it was quite tasty. i returned,and, ordered a pan pizza. It consisted of a pile of canned tomatoes on top of a bland tasting dough.
I wish the best for this restaurant but overall, I was disappointed with the pizza. It was very creasy and the toppings spilled all over the place. Its not like the New York pizza I grew up with.
