Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

No new reviews so i thought I would post one.

Friday has perennial 80's and G. Cover charge and packed. Saturday night ; no cover smaller crowd and sometimes very good bands (Giant Blue, etc). Definitely the night to go. Mixed crowd with many older people looking for hookups (well it's true). Drinks are very reasonable for Foothills, food good. Bartenders are nice and fast

Re: “Noble Hops Gastropub

Agree that it is a great addition to the Oro Valley restaurant scene. My son-in-law visited from Cambridge MA over the holidays and felt it was a real find. He brews beer at a place called John Harvard's ( yeah it is near the University by the same name) . Lot of great beers and an incredible variety of west-of -the-Mississippi local brews. Food is good brew pub snack food . Not sure what a gastro-pub is, but sense the taste/variety fell a bit short. But this is a place about the 100 + beers, not the food.

Re: “Mother Hubbard's Cafe

The strip mall is dumpy, and the interior of Mother Hubbard's doesn't win for style. What they do have is great service, great food, and fair prices. My wife and I have been there for breakfast and lunch. It's pretty much a scratch prep for everything. Their locally sourced and created ingredients are top notch. Food with character!

Re: “Mays Counter Chicken and Waffles

Just went there in mid-June, 2011. Wasn't sure about fried chicken and waffles, but both are very well done! I had the chicken breasts and they were so moist, and very large. The waffles are very egg and the maple syrup delicious. I would give 5 stars except that I think they should put more vegetables on the menu. This is not authentic Southern food, but it's just a step away (substitute hush puppies for waffles...). So Southern vegetables such as mustard greens, carrots, squash, collard greens, would round out the meals nicely. I gather they have okra, though I missed it on the menu.

Re: “Dry River Company

Great place to sit and have a pizza. There used to be a really bad bakery in this location. The appetizers are incredible and the pizza sublime. We had the oven-baked garlic clove and it is incredible! I live in Phoenix and can't wait to get back there again.

Re: “Jax Kitchen

Love Jax. It is one of our favorites on the the north side. Food is simple, relaxed and perfectly prepared every time. The quality is there on the plate! Brian is a sharp restauranteur and his focus on detail, quality and a truly comfortable atmosphere is what keeps us coming back again and again.

Re: “Dizzy G's

Good breakfast at an affordable price. The atmosphere is a little dark and dingy, but the food makes up for it. Highly recommend it, and wish they were open both on weekends and for dinner.

Re: “Chili's

If you like being greeted at the door, seated promptly, and served delicious food this is the place to go. It's a great place for an early business lunch or a quick meal while shopping. A great value for the money!

Re: “Grill

Nice little not-so-ordinary place. Good burgers, steak and Cap'n Crunch. Need to renovate the booth seating for my fat butt though.

Re: “Frank's Restaurant

Wonderful breakfasts. Great hash browns. Staff friendly and attentive. Biscuits and gravy are not so good, but the chorizo and eggs or huevos rancheros make up for it.

Re: “Arizona Family Restaurant

Living in Green Valley, there are still a limited number of good restaurants even though the town has grown a great deal. Arizona Family restaurant is a popular and very good restaurant. It has a huge menu of American favorites and most are prepared consistently and well. I love the liver and onions, The Slim Platter, chicken fried steak, baked cod and, most of all, the best French Dip I have ever had. It's because of the roll they use-nice and fresh but a firm consistency that doesn't fall apart. The restaurant is large and is very busy. Fish Fry on Friday is just okay. I believe they have a baked apple for desert. One room even has an old fashioned counter. It is beautifully decorated for whatever holiday is being celebrated. This adds to a fun, uplifting atmosphere.

Re: “Zinburger

Darn good place for a burger and wine! A bevy of burgers with chicken and veggie options, too. During happy hour, the plain & simple burger is $2 off and beer/wine is 1/2 off. The wine can be ordered by the glass or bottle and the 1/2-off (during happy hours) applies to all wine, whether by the glass or bottle and regardless of price. The burgers are cooked to your liking and there are plenty of choice things to outfit your burger with. 5 TV's above the bar (there's also table seating and outside seating in both the front and rear) and a friendly staff make for an enjoyable experience.

Re: “The Good Egg

The food is usually very good. I love that they bring a pitcher of water and coffee to the table.. The prices are a little high, but their menu selection is great. Service is usually friendly and efficient. I'm glad they are opening one at River and Oracle.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

Went a few weeks ago to check out 80's and Gentleman and thought it was pretty damn good! The band was tight and the atmosphere was fun. There seemd to be a mixed crowd of all ages and somewhat of a small cult following with their 80's dress theme going on. The band broke out some songs I really hadn't heard in a long time and it was apparent they have it together. As a bonus, I was able to take my drink outside with me to a burn a smoke. Can't comment on the food but the drinks seemed to come without any noticeable problems so all in all, I had a fun night and will definately go again.

Re: “Bread and Butter Café

The food is fast, consistent and good. As a friend from East Europe said, "It is a coffee shop just like in American movies."
