This was my wife and my first evening out in Tucson and it DID NOT disappoint. Everything written above proved to be true: intimate, excellent service and a bargain. I LOVE, I mean LOVE mussels. Sitting at the bar, a GREAT glass of white, professional wait staff and a steaming, aromatic bowl of mussels was just what a stranger in a strange land required - home. The Rumrunner was also an experience worth revisiting with an excellent selection second to none. The Friday bar special made it all the more affordable. Go, you’l enjoy.

Acacia has moved to Gallery Row, at East Skyline/North Campbell Ave, upstairs, overlooking the whole city and valley below. Refurbished the former Sur Real location, they will be adding an outdoor patio, off one of the other dining rooms to accomodate more that 100.

The Audubon Lounge has a terrace overlooking the cricket lawn, surrounded by colorful flowers. Birds are chirping in the trees. The most relaxing place unless it is more than 110 degrees outside. The prickly pear Margaritas are the best in town, on ice with salted rim, of course. The chilled leek and potato soup, Vichyssoise, is thick, flavorful with a hint of white pepper, perfect for hot weather. The quesadillas with shrimp or chicken come with three different condiments, salsa, sour cream and guacamole and the tacos are as crispy as puff pastry.
The main dining room Sunday's brunch is outstanding, as much Champagne as one wants (medium dry California Champagne is served) and the food is great, a sit down Brunch instead of buffet. Much nicer....as one concentrates on the food one is eating instead of thinking what to get next from the buffet...very civilized. Take your time and enjoy.
Love Acacia! I usually sit right by the Philabaum fountain admiring the different colors in the water streaming down...just wonderful. The food is very good, Crab Louis has tender and big, succulent pieces of crab in a light dressing, delicious with a chilled Fetzer Gewurztraminer. Great place to while away a hot afternoon after shopping at St. Philip's plaze. The dining room is more private and less noisy than the Italian place opposite of Acacia...the food is what you expect when you order, no surprises, well prepared, nothing exotic, just simple and elegant. Recommended.
Arizona at its finest. An institution in a historic setting that is enjoyable and well maintained. It a pleasure to escape the desert for this bit of refinement. The food is a little club like, standards that are well prepared, and not too spicy for the mature clientele. Service borders on the obsequious, but who cares, once in a while its fun. Dress the part, wear a jacket.
A very comfortable and quiet setting, with the freshest ingredients. I am a vegetarian and ordered the sweet corn and green chile custard braised spinach, butternut squash puree, grilled asparagus, portabella mushroom, eggplant, baby broccoli, zucchini and fire roasted sweet peppers…for $26. - the custard was like a green corn tamale. Exquisite. The mountain of vegetables were filling and hearty - I was unable to finish the entire dish.
My husband is an omnivore and he ordered the pollo a la brasa (peruvian chicken) char broiled half chicken, oaxacan risotto, steamed garden vegetables, also for $26. He would like to suck up to the chef to get the recipe for the marinade. Delicious.
Calling on a Saturday evening in June gave us a later reservation for 7:45pm and when we got there the restaurant was still full. A family with small children were on one side of us with kids enjoying a homemade mac&cheese, on the other side of us a trio of pretty young adults enjoying cocktails with dinner, behind us a huge group of "snowbirds" that never left for the summer who were talking and laughing and us, a happy couple enjoying some alone time away from our kids.
The meal lasted two and half hours and while I had four courses I walked out content but not groaning. I felt like I had eaten well and felt great!
We started with a cheese tart with figs and it was divine! A roasted tomato and pepper soup was heavenly and while we asked to share a bowl they brought out two which could have been dinner! My husband had pork that had cooked long in a reduction of something yummy with tortillas and beans. I had small filet also in a reduction with potatoes and farm fresh veggies. We ended with a home made creme brulee and sat enjoying each bite as the restaruant was now only half full.
Almost everything at Harvest is local, fresh and perfect. The service was fantastic, focused and kind. We had everything we needed and wanted. It was a great night out and it will be hard to choose if we take another couple, our kids or keep this just for us!
The food is wonderful I'm from back east and the seafood is the soooo fresh, I feel like I'm having dinner on the beach....
Sat on the terrace. Nice ambiance, jazz trio playing. Seafood was good. Drinks were good. Would go again.
A quality operation all the way around. The type of restaurant you would expect to find in an upscale community. The room is quiet and attractively decorated. Service is professional, no gaps and no imitation striving to be current. The food is well prepared and well presented. I would not classify it as a destination, but it is well worthwhile.
Past it's prime. You can find better restaurants in Tucson.

Past it's prime, snotty service, food VERY mediocre and VERY expensive. Great wine list but after being insulted by the maitre 'd and the captain, disgusting Cesar salad made table side and so-so entrees; no wine in the world could have made this experience worth the time or money! Skip it and save both for one of our many worthy local Tucson restaurants!
I have to agree w/ JW. My experience was similar and lengthy. My "Prime Dry Aged" New York strip was tough and under cooked on the first attempt, then overdone upon being brought back. The service was mediocre and our server was very unknowledgeable. Our tab for two was over $165 (including 2 glasses of warm wine!)
The place has all the ingredients to make a great restaurant: beautiful location and surroundings, new building, well decorated, great atmosphere. It’s just missing one thing: service. Basic service: water, bread, order taking, timeliness, and follow up. I would expect a restaurant claiming this high caliber of service to be on top of the basics. The staff seemed under qualified to work there. We had reservations at 7:00. We didn’t get our salads until after 8:30. In the meantime, our table of 8 devoured about 8 bread baskets and we had to ask for everything from the butter, oil & balsamic and even water. I can’t even blame the service on how busy it was. We were among 5-6 tables…
The food was good, but exceptional by no means. With prices higher than McMahon’s and Fleming’s I was expecting magic. My 45.00 rib eye definitely was no masterpiece. Save your drive and money.

Support Dennis Reed and Arizona Inn...
My daughter and I have had a long tradition of visiting the Arizona Inn at holiday time and dining in the main dining room. Last year we did that as well as having Thanksgiving dinner there and both meals, while not horrible were not up to snuff. After questioning the waiter it was clear why; Chef Baskerville had departed sometime during the previous year. Too bad; the food had always been outstanding, served in a very classically formal environment. We will definitely dine elsewhere this upcoming holiday. P.S. We're sad about this!
