I love this little place. The chile rellenos are excellent. The soups, filling and tasty, are served with a choice of corn/flour tortillas. It's a family run business [no, I'm not part of the family]. I've been so often that I know them, tho! The pan dulces can be taken home and so can the soups. When you sit in the small dining area you are down in Mexico, as the lovely mural fills the wall with rural scences that include an active volcanco.
Zivaz's ambiance mirrors Sauce and Pei Wei -esk bright plastic, colorful, cafeteria-style. The food is overpriced and over-sauced. Salmon salad is mediocre, but fish is often overcooked. Several vegetarian options. I wanted to like this locally owned restaurant, but the best thing I can say about it is that their green salsa is tasty.
Wonderful Home Cooking, what more can you ask for. I first stopped here when I wasn't a resident now after 13 years of living here, this is still our favorite family Mexican spot. Great Chip and Salsa to start, Frosty Mugs for Beers, silky sauces, and too many more. We have never had a bad meal, on occasion the service is tardy when they are busy but always good to great food offerings.
I love La Indita! The food is fabulous and the prices can't be beat! Before I was a vegetarian my favorites were the chicken mole and green chicken enchiladas. Their mole is perfectly spiced and not too sweet, and their chicken is on the bone, rather than shredded, and always juicy and tender. Their green enchilada sauce is truely unique, creamy and rich. Now that I don't eat chicken, I enjoy their chili rellenos, mushroom enchilada, and potato tacos. They can even make your food Vegan! I encourage all weekly readers to eat here often. Their weekly lunch specials are $6 and come with rice and beans.
For nearly 30 years, I have had an office in the neighborhood of El Minuto, and have tried just about everything on the menu. Its all consistently good, and the service cannot be beaten. I especially like the carne seca and their basic salsa, which are as good as anywhere else in town.
Really really bad food and service..
The best part dining here are the frozen Margaritas. The food does not merit the wait, not much different than street fare.
Horrible horrible customer service, the food was cold when it came out and they just recently raised the price of almost everything by $1 - I would pay the price if they had half a clue how to manage and treat their customers. This is my 2nd bad exp. as I gave them a 2nd chance thinking the first time was maybe just a bad day for them. Wrong!!!! I will NEVER eat at this location again - nor will any of our friends or family.
I like it! Happy hour is great.
LOVE their food, mediocre rating due to slow service and when they run out of something, you don't know until you don't get your food.
El Rio Bakery has been a Barrio Hollywood hidden secret to many who do not live on the Westside, but perhaps no more with the deserved attention the Weekly is giving it. Great food (and not only the baked goods) and a great atmosphere. I will never understand why Tania's does so well across the street, when El Rio is so clearly superior.
The mural inside is a must see -- but you can also hang out at a picnic table outside and watch Grande Avenue traffic go by. Sunday's can get crowded from St. Margaret's church-goers across the street, so you may have trouble parking then.
And don't forget the other two great restaurants right on Grande: Maricos Chihuahua and El Sabrosos. Along with El Rio, Grande Avenue has a "Holy Trinity" of fantastic eats.
This is the real deal in spite of the hype of the past decade since "the president" dined here. The food is authentic; fattening and rich in Sonoran style sauces and traditions. The building is but a hole in the wall but it's owners and staff put out flavorful favorites; my personal pick: chicken enchiladas. You'll have a wait if you go at normal mealtimes. My advice: go at an off hour and enjoy!
they got the best Chicharrones on flour tacos in town. The Queso Fundito with extra chorizo and mushrooms while waiting for the tacos is pretty good too.
Then..... their Flan!!!!
Always a delight. Wished they served at the bar though.
Our first couple of times we were impressed and found a new favorite for Mexican food in Tucson. Since the move to the new location we've been there twice and were disappointed each time. Once chips were brought to our table soggy! and I had a Carne Asada steak brought to me raw! Too big too fast?
Been dining here since spouse was on the construction crew at the city park across the street in1994. Great, fabulous holiday tamales available here.
Teresa's is the only decent restaurant in a 5-mile radius from home -- and I eat there weekly. The service is great, the food is well-prepared and the platinum margarita's are delicious. Varied specials are always good. Peak evenings in the winter months can mean a 20-30 minute wait. Fortunately, platinum margaritas are available to help you while away the time.
The place is dirty and now they put anti SB1070 signs up all over the place and are refusing to speak English to customers.
I will never eat they again.
A disappointment. Major problem with portion control. The famous carne seca platter came with a 1/4 - 1/3 pound portion of beef not the 1/2 pound as listed on the menu and the sides have also shrunk. The pozole stew was too much broth.
