We have eaten here 18-20 times; for lunch 25% of the time and dinner 75% of the time. The food is consistently good, and the service has been very good as well. The sushi is fresh and the vegetables crunchy and tasty, especially the cucumbers. I've had the grilled salmon and the chicken teriyaki as well, and the hot foods are pretty close to as good as the sushi. Plum ice cream for dessert seems to be standard without asking. The iced green tea is refreshing as well. A definite favorite of ours.
I live in Chicago and was visiting friends in Tucson. We decided to try Bubby's to see how it measured up. I had the Chicago dog and my husband had a burger. We both thought the food was great. We thought we were back in Chitown for a moment until we looked out and everything was beige. We actually went back again before we left Tucson!
I may only be 24 and from Kansas, but this place has the best Hot Wings and Sandwiches I have ever had. They know how to make good food here, and will gladly provide without raiding your wallet. I haven't met a sandwich here that wasn't toothsome, certainly don't hesitate to venture away from the top ten. The Chicken Caccitore, Eggplant Parm, and Philly Phanatic are all worthy of your attention, if you order the Italian make it a grinder.
Be prepared to be nice to the servers, generally there's only one on staff (in addition to one of the owners), so they can get overworked if there's a sudden rush.
The food is terrific, the decor is fun, and the service is friendly. Try the hand-cut fries. I overheard a little girl say to her mom, "these fries are better than McDonald's". They are that good!!
You can't beat the food! Being from Chicago, it definitely matches up to the best of them. With the Twin Peaks interchange being completed, it will make it much easier to get to this great restaurant, but it is definitely worth it to make your way out now!
Skybox's atmosphere and entertainment are far better than expected for a Tucson watering hole and dance place. The bands on Friday and Saturday evening play oldies and pop and are the best dancing with class Tucson has had to offer in a long time. The servers are very professional and friendly. The food is of good quality and the price is not bad. It far exceeds places on Tanque Verde, Swan and Ft. Lowell, Campbell and River or Campbell and Skyline as a place for professionals to meet on Friday evening.
Just discovered this place not too long ago and it is delicious! The rolls are on the smaller side but the sushi is good and service is attentive. For a dinner for two of appetizer, 3 sushi rolls, chicken teryaki, 2 large beers and a large sake we walked out paying $65 which wasn't bad. Definitely must try!
Simply put, its amazing. Burgers piled high with savory vegetables (even fruit if you desire). Sweet potato fries are a MUST. Service is fun, friendly and helpful.
Have you ever wanted to learn about wine without appearing ignorant around wine snobs? Well, I found Cata Vinos was just the place. Imagine relaxing in a comfortable atmosphere, sampling a variety of tasty wines. You will find the staff knowledgable & helpful, the patrons friendly, and the well stocked shop has something for everyone.....all under $15! Wonderful fun to go with a party of friends, although I'm just as comfortable going alone. Very welcoming.
There is absolutely nothing like Game On Sports Grille in our around Tucson. This is truly a neighborhood bar in the fashion of what I grew up with. We know the onwers, everyone at the bar makes you feel welcome and there is a real commoraderie here that is unlike other "corporate places" or local dive bars.
There has never been once that I have been here where the owner and his wife did not come out and say hi. Last evening I asked him if he could make a thin crust pizza and he said, "I'd be happy to make it myself for you. 20 minutes later out popped an outstanding thin crust pizza.
The food here is outstanding and made from scratch, and the owners do everything they can to keep the prices real low.
This is one of our favorite stops and perhaps the best overall value in town.
Great place for a special occassion. The food is wonderful and the wait staff works really hard to make your time there special and fun. Eric the teppan yaki chef is funny and really tries to cook your meal to your statisfaction. My daughter loves this place and the sushi chef always makes her something special. My husband and son love the spicy tuna taki, which you can only find at Fusion Wasabi. And the fried rice and salad with the ginger dressing are out of this world- YOU HAVE TO EAT HERE!
Loved it... Will be back. Fried pickles were great! Burger was among the best. Great chairs too! :-) Yep, good stuff! And right next to a cigar shop too? This works well for me!
This place is amazing. The music is loud and your food is served up with love. You can taste how happy the workers are in the delicious food. Plus, they give to those in need each month. Try a basil pineapple drink and eat every bit of salad they put on your plate. Little Poca Cosa is rejuvenating and reminds me what I love about Tucson.
East Coast Super Subs (ECSS) produces excellent subs; there's no two ways about it.
This is where I go in Tucson for the best hot sandwiches. You'll see a ton of reviews on other aggregates like Yelp! -- but the hype really is warranted. Go here; you won't be disappointed.
The menu details a variety of subs, but highlights the top ten. The *Broadstreet Bully* and the *Jimmy McKenna* are exceptional and worthy of their #1 and #2 rankings.
However, even the sandwiches excluded from their most popular rankings are still righteous (i.e. The Philly Fanatic). The bread rolls ECSS uses on their subs really makes them special.
Love this place! Been going for years. Fun hot wait staff, great drink specials and huge sandwiches and bread bowl soups. The outdoor patio bar is a great plus!
I've been eating this food for years and I love it. There are simply no reasons to have animals killed to gratify a whim for good eats.
Great fast lunch...lunch menu is inexpensive and delicious...the Thai ice coffee is a pick me up in the middle of the day. Lunch includes a lightly flavored chicken-based broth with some celery in it, then some rice, some crispy eggroll...the Basil Chicken is delicious and I always use their condiments, chilis in vinegar and spicy chili sauce to make my own, of course...recommended for a quick lunch..
The Audubon Lounge has a terrace overlooking the cricket lawn, surrounded by colorful flowers. Birds are chirping in the trees. The most relaxing place unless it is more than 110 degrees outside. The prickly pear Margaritas are the best in town, on ice with salted rim, of course. The chilled leek and potato soup, Vichyssoise, is thick, flavorful with a hint of white pepper, perfect for hot weather. The quesadillas with shrimp or chicken come with three different condiments, salsa, sour cream and guacamole and the tacos are as crispy as puff pastry.
The main dining room Sunday's brunch is outstanding, as much Champagne as one wants (medium dry California Champagne is served) and the food is great, a sit down Brunch instead of buffet. Much nicer....as one concentrates on the food one is eating instead of thinking what to get next from the buffet...very civilized. Take your time and enjoy.
Re: “Caffe Torino”
My husband and I dine out frequently. We are extremely particular in our expectations and this restaurant far exceeds them. We often find ourselves dining here on a couple nights throughout our week. We also LOVE their italian breakfasts & lunch dishes! Cafe Torino is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant with an intimate feel. The owner is "hands on" and frequently visits with her guests when not in the kitchen. The food is absolutely exceptional. The pasta is all homemade, each morning ,and the menu offers many northern italian authentic selections as well as rotating specials. I have impressed many by bringing them to this little gem. For breakfast, lunch or dinner...it is one to not miss!
