I found the Lomo Saltado dish simply delicious and the beef was a quality cut. I like the savory seasoning of the dishes I went with my girlfriend and we had a polite waiter that gave us good service. The pictures of Peru are enjoyable to watch, quiet and relaxing atmosphere.
I love the salads, they are fresh and full of crisp veggies with garbanzo beans and a delicious dressing. Another favorite is the persian chicken kebob- Jojeh sandwich I find the sauce and onions in this wrap, I have not been able to try much more because these are my favorites.
Good breakfast at an affordable price. The atmosphere is a little dark and dingy, but the food makes up for it. Highly recommend it, and wish they were open both on weekends and for dinner.
This is the real deal in spite of the hype of the past decade since "the president" dined here. The food is authentic; fattening and rich in Sonoran style sauces and traditions. The building is but a hole in the wall but it's owners and staff put out flavorful favorites; my personal pick: chicken enchiladas. You'll have a wait if you go at normal mealtimes. My advice: go at an off hour and enjoy!
For those of you that have a gluten sensitivity and miss pizza, eclectic delivers great tasting gluten-free pizza... at a cost. The pizza and other gluten free menu items seem really overpriced, especially when compared to the regular menu items. The ambiance is kind of awkward. It's in a strip mall along busy Tanque Verde. But the service has been consistently good and the pizza ingredients are fresh, local and organic when possible and delicious. They even serve gluten free beer! Overall, I would ignore the quirks and support this great Tucson business offering an option for Celiacs and gluten sensitive folks.
If you like being greeted at the door, seated promptly, and served delicious food this is the place to go. It's a great place for an early business lunch or a quick meal while shopping. A great value for the money!
Bentley's sandwiches are great, as are the coffees. I'm pretty much just seconding cgerken's 1/22/10 glowing review, including the part about table space being something of a precious commodity because people treat it like their living room. But the baristas are friendly AND they give you a toy animal (say, a dinosaur or a cow) to mark your table while you wait for your food.
This place is fun and I really wish more people knew about it and gave it a try. It opened in May 2010 but it isn't really promoted anywhere but Facebook and is tucked inside the Pioneer Building where Monkey Box used to be, by Ike's. However, it has great hours--one of the only places downtown (if not the only one) that's open early for breakfast and late for dinner 7 days a week-- and has a fair number of regulars. The printed menu is limited, with a number of seafood dishes (I say the fish tacos are the best in town), a kobe burger, a few salads, and the like, but I've seen the kitchen staff accommodate a number of special requests, including vegetarian and vegan. The ambiance is very pleasant, with gallery space on the walls, not-too-loud music, a full bar, and a little patio outside. The drawbacks are mostly logistical in that the space is not very big, but at least it's laid out pretty well so it doesn't feel cramped. You also have to get a key and go down a hallway to get to the bathroom, which is kind of annoying, but the well-lit building is mostly used for professional offices, there's a security guard, and the bathrooms are clean. There's only one TV and it's usually on mute--a welcome change from most places in town, for a lot of us--but they do show the big games (like UA sports, World Cup, etc.) and, again, all you have to do is ask if there's something you want to catch. There's been some staff turnover but the steadies are friendly yet professional, and it seems to draw mostly a mellow-but-not-uptight crowd during the day. Weekend nights will sometimes have djs spinning house music until the morning, and there's live jazz every Friday.
Never fails to please. Good food. Bring back the steak sandwich with balsamic carmelized onions.
Decent food and service. Osso bucco was excellent. I wish they would offer the seafood soup that Red Sky Cafe used to have.
Closest thing you'll find to a Chicago hot dog in Tucson. Fries are excellent.

Nice little not-so-ordinary place. Good burgers, steak and Cap'n Crunch. Need to renovate the booth seating for my fat butt though.

Everything I've ever had here is insanely tasty. My hangover favorite is the biscuits and gravy here. Meaty, garlicky gravy makes this my favorite breakfast in Tucson. I only wish I could replicate it at home. I'm also nuts for the garlic chicken, but it's only because I love the sauce. The chicken seems to be an airline cutlet. It's usually moist enough and tasty, but it just looks so sad on the plate. Doesn't stop me from ordering it.
I've been going to Pho 88 for years. The woman who owns the place is always friendly and happy to see you.
The Pho is delicious. Very. The Vietnamese meat loaf is the best I've had in town. The broken jasmine rice plates are over the top.
My recommendation: Go more than once so you can try everything!
As of at least August '10, the restaurant has changed names from "El Saage" to "Falafel King", although the menus and restaurant reviews still have the old name everywhere. The food was good, the falafel was crisp and flavorful, and the baba ghanoush was rich and smoky: perhaps the best way I've ever eaten eggplant. The restaurant felt clean to me, but perhaps I have different standards from the previous reviewer.
