Re: “Govinda's Natural Foods Buffet and Boutique

Govinda's Natural Foods has been serving vegetarian meals in Tucson since 1992! The food Govinda's offers is wholesome, healthy, organic, and blessed. The restaurant has a spotless appearance with touches of charming and unique thoughtfulness such as mood lighting, exotic decorations from foreign lands, spiritual literature, a boutique, an outside dining area with a water fountain, a bird aviary, and Koi pond. All of these aesthetics add to the serene and peaceful atmosphere.
Both lunch and dinner are served in an all you can eat Buffet style. Many of the fresh vegetables served in the salad bar are not only organic but are also purchased from local growers. The salad dressings are all homemade and offer a variety of healthy flavors and tastes. The hot side of the buffet contains both brown and white rice, two yummy hot soups, fresh steamed vegetables, spiced just right cooked veggies, and an entree for dinner. In addition, homemade bread and sweet deserts are baked fresh daily. Also, there are always dairy and glutton free selections on the menu for those with in tolerances, and all day Thursday is vegan day!
I eat at Govinda's everyday except for Monday when the restaurant is closed. Stepping onto the property, instantaneously my mind relaxes. Once I make my way into the restaurant area, the meditative music permeating the atmosphere calms my body, and the aromas from the fresh food arouses my senses. I delicately fill my plate with my chosen selections of delicious food cooked with love and devotion and sit down at a table to eat quietly. Literally, every bite taken equals pure bliss, as I smile and chew thoroughly so as to enjoy the savory tastes! Dining at Govinda's Natural Foods brings my body, mind, and spirit peace.

Re: “Maria’s Café

Wonderful Home Cooking, what more can you ask for. I first stopped here when I wasn't a resident now after 13 years of living here, this is still our favorite family Mexican spot. Great Chip and Salsa to start, Frosty Mugs for Beers, silky sauces, and too many more. We have never had a bad meal, on occasion the service is tardy when they are busy but always good to great food offerings.

Re: “Ike's Coffee and Tea

I have been regularly going to Ike's Coffee and Tea for about 3 years. They have a pretty wide selection of teas. They will accommodate you and make ice tea out of their types of normally hot teas. I mostly purchase the "Prickly Pear" Ice Tea. It has a nice refreshing taste and is not brewed too strong. Their have their own label for coffee. I have been pretty satisfied the limited times I had their coffee drinks. A friend that regularly visits Tucson, raves about their coffee. She states it is the best coffee she has had from a cafe.

I was a vegetarian and have only tried a couple of their plates. They do have a few vegetarian options. They have a Veggie a la Rosene, a sandwich with humus, green chilies, apples and feta. I regularly get the Humus Plate, which is a good snack for two people. Now, that I am a vegan, that is the only daily option for me.

The staff have always been nice and pleasant. They always greet you with a smile and have tried to answer my questions about certain menu items. Make sure you leave a tip when you visit here. They deserve it.

They do have daily soups. Which is my only negative comment about Ike's. Some of staff does not seem for sure to know the allergen content of the soup and if it is vegan. It would be a good idea to have a book that states what is in each soup, so the staff can reference it. I have been to other restaurants and cafes and they have this type of chart to help their customers.

Overall in my opinion Ike's is one the best coffee places in town. They are a weekly stop on when I go to the grocery store or doing my errands on that side of town.

Re: “La Indita

I love La Indita! The food is fabulous and the prices can't be beat! Before I was a vegetarian my favorites were the chicken mole and green chicken enchiladas. Their mole is perfectly spiced and not too sweet, and their chicken is on the bone, rather than shredded, and always juicy and tender. Their green enchilada sauce is truely unique, creamy and rich. Now that I don't eat chicken, I enjoy their chili rellenos, mushroom enchilada, and potato tacos. They can even make your food Vegan! I encourage all weekly readers to eat here often. Their weekly lunch specials are $6 and come with rice and beans.

Re: “El Minuto Café

For nearly 30 years, I have had an office in the neighborhood of El Minuto, and have tried just about everything on the menu. Its all consistently good, and the service cannot be beaten. I especially like the carne seca and their basic salsa, which are as good as anywhere else in town.

Consistently the best breakfast I have had in Tucson. Good quality and huge portions.

Re: “BrushFire BBQ Co.

Having tasted everything on the menu including all of the sides, this is as good of quality bbq you will find in town. Ample portions, melt in your mouth brisket, great turkey, and their salmon is terrific.

Re: “Ha Long Bay

Consistently great food. Be it the Pho or any of the other choices from the menu. Have not found anywhere else which comes close in Tucson.

Re: “Frankie's South Philly Cheesesteaks

Unless you are going to Philly to eat at Geno's or Pat's, handsdown Frankie's is the best and most authentic you will find outside of the Philly area. Yes, the rolls make a huge difference.

Re: “Bubby's Chicago Style

Fabulous! And fun for the whole family. Burgers, dogs, sandwiches, best fries ever. I've ended up here even when I'm not exactly around the corner. It's one of those places you'll return to again and again. Prices are reasonable and portions are generous.

Re: “Viro's Italian Bakery and Cafe

I ate there many times for lunch when I worked across the street. The food was always fresh and delicious. The Italian cookies were incredible as well.

Re: “The Original Mr. K's BBQ

The best BBQ restaurant in our region. Sadly, it is constantly overlooked due to its location (although it's location is specific because of the adjoining museum - also underestimated). The moment you are in the parking lot, you are teased with an aroma that hints at the awaiting flavor. You will only regret not being able to finish your plate.

Re: “Time Market

Good food, usuaully quick service, and a great price. I eat there at least once a week, sometimes more. Highly recommend the breakfast burritos, especially if you have never had one before. They are delicious.

Re: “Fusion Wasabi

Love Fusion Wasabi! Their side salad is very tasty. It was some sort of secret Ginger dressing that they won't give details about... They won't sell any either. Their sushi is awesome! I would definetely reccommend this place.

Re: “1702

In an age of instant gratification, often with sub-par quality, it's refreshing to know a place like 1702 is around. Feeling a monster appetite coming on? Leisurely enjoy any of the 50 rotating beers on tap while awaiting your freshly made custom slice of pizza. Yes, it will take more than 5 minutes, but quality takes time. Best pizza in town and a beer for every pallet.
