Unfortunately this restaurant has closed.
I tried this place years ago and never went back as I thought the food was mediocre and the place too loud. It can get loud but its really a great restaurant in an area of town with few choices of restaurants. Pizza is just fine, thin crust better than regular. Food portions are hugh and all the food is tasty and reasonably priced. Great staff. Beats dealing with a Brooklyn Pizza kind of place.
Only someone who owns the place would say their pizza is great. I found it quite ordinary and not nearly as good as Brooklyn or Mario's at the corner of Ft Lowell and Stone. BRooklyn is too small and noisy for my tastes.
I wish the best for this restaurant but overall, I was disappointed with the pizza. It was very creasy and the toppings spilled all over the place. Its not like the New York pizza I grew up with.
Beer selection is excellent, with a few local-ish brews and a ton of ones from places you may never have heard of. Pizza is serviceable, with a crispy crust and decent toppings. Service can be slow, even during the summer months--plan to linger.
Great selection & fresh pizzas, topping combos range from classic to new inventions. Be sure to schedule extra time if you go during lunchtime.
I've never had bad service and I have never ordered the same thing twice and I've found everything to be wonderful. The salad I had the first time was HUGE. The second time I tried the pizza and thought it was pretty good. The next time I had appetizers and drinks and I loved them so much, I took home an order of appetizers with me (with happy hour prices, why not?). I'm going to eat there tonight and I'm looking forward to it!
Really good pizza. Not the best in town but certainly good. We'd probably go more often but the place is small and gets way too busy.
Best pizza in Tucson, hands down. Some people may prefer Brooklyn's but understand that these two places do pizza totally differently. Grimaldi's uses a real coal-fired oven, whereas Brooklyn's uses a standard pizza over. Both places are very good but we like Grimaldi's the best. One thing I gotta ask though. Who on earth orders a big hunk of cheese cake after stuffing their face with pizza?
I'm not a big fan of the NY style pizza, but I've got to say that these guys have a great pie. The bar in the back is a nice little hangout joint and the pizza slices come out hot and fast. Well done. Also nice to see a long line at 2:15 after the bars close.
Best pizza I have ever had...
Magpies is hands down the best pizza in tucson and it shows because im pretty sure they've won tucson weekly's best pizza award something ridiculous like 15 times in a row. this place is definitely the place to go when your craving a good pizza
I don't mean to be rude but we saw Shell Shock and found them to be rather boring. We left after the first set. It was a long drive for us to be let down. By the way, we love classic rock when it's done well. Sorry.
I have been going to No Anchovies regularly since 2005. The staff is totally friendly, make conversation with you and know how to liven up the university atmosphere. Great Selection of pizzas. My favorite is the Buffalo Wing Pizza! They have TV's both inside and outside and it is a great place to watch any sporting event.
The wings are unbeatable here. Tried many others in Tucson and they cannot compete with Rocco's! The Great Chicago Fire pizza is hot, spicy and very delicious. We always order a large so we have leftovers for that hangover the next day!!! Another favorite is the Caprese Salad, first of all, it's huge enough to share and they do not skimp with the mozzarella at all, the basil is fragrant and flavorful, but the star of this salad is definitely the balsamic, we are sure it is homemade and it is appreciated! And do not, I repeat, do not leave without trying one of Lisa's cookies! They are usually out of them, so if you notice there are some when you get there, grab 'em and save them for later, you'll be glad you did. The servers are quick, friendly and attentive. And they have a nice selection of brews.
Yep, there's a reason for the packed parking lot and the wait!
Excellent pizza but still occasionally travel across town to get their lasagna special on Thursdays (for over 20 years!). Yes, it's that good.
great summer special
pizza, salad and 2 wines/drinks for $20.00
Finally went here after hearing a friend say the pizza was good. I went for a lunch special, salad and a two-topping slice of pizza for about $7. Verdict. The salad was rather good (not blow you away good, but pretty darn good). As for the pizza. The slice was plenty big but only decent tasting. It had an almost Bisquick-like crust quality and taste to it. Now that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, I wasn't disappoint with my meal at all. However, I expected it to be better since my friend raved about the place. I do agree with the previous post in that the service is friendly. Still, Grimaldi's is the place for truly great pizza in Tucson.
No very good at all. That's what our party of five ended up saying after eating dinner here. I highly doubt any of us will come back as the food isn't happening here.
Re: “Bianchi's”
Oh my gosh. Blah-anchi's. Crap-anchi's. No, really. My husband had the meatball sandwich and I have the lasagna. Yuk! So flavorless and blah. We could be wrong but from the looks of their pizzas, we suspect they are on par with what you might get at a school cafeteria.
