Papa Locos is sooooo goood. Actually you can grab a six pack of beer next door and bring it in to the restaurant. Alot cheaper than paying $4-5 for a beer at other places.
I go to the Guadalajara Grill West
at Least 2 times per month for Happy Hour
Great Place to Chill; Beer and Margarita's are great.
Fresh Chips and Salsa; The Owner Emma is very customer service oriented
and plus she is easy on the eyes.
The bartenders Ramon and Christina are great.
I give this place a 10.

This is my neighborhood mexican joint and I go here at least 3 times a week. It never disappoints. A favorite is the bacon, egg and bean burrito without cheese or potatoes but I love the carnitas, carne asada, papas tacos, ceviche. You name it. You can ask for substitutions in all your burritos. I went on a burrito tour of a mile wide area and this is the BEST. I love their spicy salsa.
From the ambience, to the friendly staff, to the great food there is nowhere else in Tucson that I enjoy eating more. It is a must hit every time my family is in town!
The best food I've had in Tucson. I went last Septemeber for my birthday and again for Cinco de Mayo and then my mom, aunt and I resolved to go at least once a month. I always get the Plato Poca Cosa and give the chef free reign on what I eat and have never been disappointed. The chocolate mole is to die for.
We went on a Friday night, there was only one person working and he had four sets of customers waiting. So the service was lacking a bit. I didn't take away any stars for this for two reasons. One, he let us know he had to send the other person working with him home that night because he was too sick to be working. Not his fault. And two, the food was so darn good, we didn't even care that the service was a tad bit slow. We ordered Carne Asada tacos, Camaron (beer battered) tacos, the Mar y Tierra (Surf and Turf) tacos and the Ranchero Style Whole Pinto Beans. Everything was made to order so when we got them they were still sizzling from the grill. Wow, were we blown away! They use rib eye and fresh shrimp for the Mar y Tierra with a drizzle of mustard on top. I am obsessed with this one and wanted to go back the next day to see if I was dreaming about it or if was truly one of the best tasting tacos I ever tasted, it was! The batter on the shrimp was very light, crispy, tasty and complemented the shrimp perfectly. The salsas served were delicious too.
Everything was fresh and the quality of the meat and shrimp made a huge difference in the flavor and experience. I've eaten at alot of taquerias in this town, this place is now my Numero Uno!
Awesome Tacos. Homemade shells that were light and crisp. Lots of refills of chips and salsa. Chili Rellenos not too much batter and fresh tasting.
I've always had fantastic food here, and find the service timely, friendly, in fact, extraordinary. And the prices are not at all expensive. The people who run this place are the best! The food is glorious. Noisy . . . ok, but not beyond a lot of restaurants. It's one of Tucson truly unique treasures. We take our local friends and our out-of-town guests here with pleasure.
Great food. Friendly service. Deserves 6 stars.
I've been eating at Mi Nidito's for 22 years, and I've never been disappointed. It is simply delicious, authentic Tucson style Mexican food. It's always been worth the wait, and I've always had great, friendly service. The owners and everyone working there always welcomed our large family, and my kids always enjoyed looking at the many colorful decorations. I love the tacos, both the ground beef patties and shredded beef. The chili in the chili relleno is always crisp and flowing with hot, white melted cheese that is to die for. The beans are always the perfect consistency. This is absolutely my favorite restaurant.
The carnitas are so good, melts in your mouth. The price is average for this type of place. You will not be disappointed. The previous rating of 1star is totally off base. They do not know what good food taste like
Maria Bonita was a wonderful place for a family, also with very delicious food. My family and I loved it. We were truly sad when we saw it closed. I seriously hope to see a Maria Bonita opened once more, but from my understanding why this family restaurant closed was in fact for the building, not completely sure but the owner had said that the building was in bad bad condition. Anyways hope to see it open once again, and if does my family and i will in fact be there.
This is my favorite Mexican restaurant! I have tried several meals and every one of them ~delicious! Lupita's has the best salsa; when I go to the register to pay my bill, I buy a quart! And their service is just as good as their food. I am so glad Lupita's came to Northwest Tucson!!
I lived in Tucson for 38 years, I ate at Michas at least once a week for many of those years. The best breakfasts, best Chimichangas, best machaca in town. I left Tucson five years ago and one for the things I miss most is Machaca and Eggs at Michas.
About a year ago I made a brief visit to the Old Pueblo, Michas was still there, the food still good and now I miss it even more.
I love this place! Great food (had the fajitas, burros, seafood). Servings are large - I am able to take 1/2 home for lunch next day. Great beans. Good Margaritas. (Happy hour they are only $3!) Women will make salsa at your table - free, but they have a basket for donations.
It is one of the few restaurants in Tucson I will wait for a seat to open up. (FYI...not many around. Since Tucson is so blessed with so many great restaurants we can usually find one with no wait, even on weekends.)
The chocolate cake and the views is enough to keep you going back... and the food is good too!
CaliMan is insane, he's just pissed because he works for another store down the street (yes, we know who you are). Sir Veza's is a great place to eat for everyone! High quality, low prices, clean and family friendly.
Wonderful Home Cooking, what more can you ask for. I first stopped here when I wasn't a resident now after 13 years of living here, this is still our favorite family Mexican spot. Great Chip and Salsa to start, Frosty Mugs for Beers, silky sauces, and too many more. We have never had a bad meal, on occasion the service is tardy when they are busy but always good to great food offerings.
Re: “Poco and Mom's”
This could have it all. For a lonely boy looking for chile with an ‘e’ this place comes so close. Just not bold enough with the what we New Mexicans need to wake up our old decrepit bodies on a cold winter’s day. Having said that, it’s still the BEST (and maybe ONLY) place for New Mexican food in town. Once you go, you’l never go back to that Sonoran sludge of too much of everything except flavor that’s called Mexican food in Tucson. Yes, totally biased - and spoiled.
