Re: “Shlomo and Vito’s New York Delicatessen

I've eaten here with transplanted New Yorkers who thought it was very good and dined here with a Jewish friend who loved the matzoh ball soup as it reminded her of how her family fixed it growing up.

The pastrami sandwich is enormous and tasty. The free pickles to nibble on while waiting for the meal to arrive is also a nice touch.

Re: “Boondocks Lounge

I think they finally got the stench of cigarette smoke out of there. It took a few years. Not bad bar. Acoustics OK. Lot of room. Also have gotten rid of most of the trouble makers from the old days of Neon Prophet. Kitchen has surprisingly good fare. All in all I think I have to give it 5 stars.

Re: “Luke's Italian Beef

Luke's on Speedway is the best! The staff is outgoing and friendly...and the owner, Jason is a real treat to look at too! Excellent food...will be back soon!

Re: “Zivaz Mexican Bistro

The carnitas are so good, melts in your mouth. The price is average for this type of place. You will not be disappointed. The previous rating of 1star is totally off base. They do not know what good food taste like

Re: “Son's Bakery Café

Son works his butt off to make all his meals great. He is also one funny dude..his regulars love him. His Pho, chicken or beef Bun and chicken curry are a nice addition to his regular fare of sandwiches made on his own fresh baked breads. His burger rocks also. Breakfast cant be beat with his special pancakes.

Lets just say it is worth a try..oh and his egg rolls are best in town.

Re: “My Big Fat Greek Restaurant

Never a chain "ethnic" restaurant, EVER! This is what On The Border is to mexican and Olive Garden is to Italian

Re: “Mother Hubbard's Cafe

The strip mall is dumpy, and the interior of Mother Hubbard's doesn't win for style. What they do have is great service, great food, and fair prices. My wife and I have been there for breakfast and lunch. It's pretty much a scratch prep for everything. Their locally sourced and created ingredients are top notch. Food with character!

Re: “Guadalajara Grill East

They used CANNED ingredients to make your salsa. Tastes like Pace. Rest of the menu fare's the same. Definitely a gringo Mexican joint. Better choices elsewhere.

Very good sushi. Didn't try anything else, but will definitely go back.

Re: “Glass Onion Cafe

Inattentive and slow service combined with mediocre food that's overpriced. Phony hippy vibe is the icing on the cake for this disaster of a cafe.

Re: “Wei Asian Café

The best fried rice in town. Great Chinese food. Authentic Viet food. And good Thai food.

Re: “BrushFire BBQ Co.

I don't understand why people rate this place so high. I ordered a pork sandwich, and it was thin, shaved slivers of meat suspended in an oversweet, gelatinous sauce. Worst barbecue I've ever had. Maybe I caught them on a bad day but that was my experience.

Re: “Son's Bakery Café

I have visited Son's often since finding his restaurant (and also to allow my wife the opportunity to shop at the grocery outlet store). Everything on the menu is worth trying because you cannot go wrong. In other words they taste and look good without being pretentious or overwhelming. Even the coffee is delicious and is not permitted to run out. Friendly people visit and the staff also.

Re: “El Charro Café on Broadway

Actually the one on Court is the original. I remember it when I was growing up in Tucson. My "friend" and "associate" Steve Flin was the nephew of the owner Monica Flin. Steve passed away in the 70's and per his request we had a party behind El Charro with alot of tequila. Oh well....just remembering....anyway, I always felt the restaurant had good food. But I've been living away from AZ for awhile now. I go once or twice a year to visit friends and family, but my favorite place is another place behind the police station on Stone.
