Re: “Famous Sam's E. Golf Links

Its not thta Shell Shock is bad, they just have no soul. Very generic players. Good sound but you kinda get sick of them being in there every stinkin month. Bookin agent must be doing someone in the band...or all of em.

Re: “OPA!

This is our second review - see 2011 review. Service continues to be a major issue at Opa. I asked twice for a drink refill. Put it this way. I ended up leaving my seat and walking over the beverage fountain to refill my glass myself. Awful! The free humus they give you remains very band too. But for five bucks the gyros during lunch are a deal. But don't add fries or a salad b/c you won't need all that extra food. Plus your five dollar meal will turn into an eight or nine dollar lunch.

Re: “The Fat Greek

I wanted to like this place, the location is handy. But the food was not all that good. The lemon chicken soup I thought was canned because the carrots were mush, the chicken seemed canned, but the pleasant waitress wearing a see-through Grecian chiffon dress that showed off her heavily tattooed body (but she had to wear white hose to cover her tattoed legs because the boss didn't like tattoed legs,) and tiara on her head told me it was made fresh, but it didn't have any flavor. The boss is absent, the plan for an organic farm fell through although there are signs advertising the non-existent farm as providing organic food and goat milk and cheese for the restaurant, and one wonders if this restaurant will stay in business. With good management it could do well. The owner is indeed a fat Greek, he must weight 300 pounds and I am wary of dining in a place where the owner is so obese as it means the food is not healthy. I like Greek food, but have not found a Greek restaurant in Tucson as good as Athens of Fourth downtown but they are not open for lunch.

Re: “Karuna's Thai Plate

This is by far my favorite thai place in Tucson. Yes, the service is not the best, the restaurant is often closed on random days and it's a little run down but the food is well worth it. Also, the lunch buffet is great and inexpensive.

Re: “The Sweet Life Portrait Studio

My Great Grandmother celebrated her 100th birthday. We wanted to make it memorable by taking a family portrait while we can seeing that she doesn't have many moons left. We were enticed with the savings that we thought we were getting by choosing Whitney as our photographer. In hindsight, I would have paid the extra money for someone with manners. We wanted the portrait done at our Grandmothers house in which she lived her entire life. We spend days of hard labor to fix up the home and get it in perfect shape for our anticipated portrait. I was disappointed when Whitney arrived late with the excuse that she had "bubble guts." I wasnt sure what that meant until I used the google search engine and found disturbing results. She was setting up her equipment and lights in the living room when I noticed she was passing flatulence. Upon confrontation, she then tried to pass blame onto my dear Great Grandmother who sat their innocently in her 90 year old rocking chair. I was hoping that by tolerating her poor attitude and manners that her work would be worth the hassle. Her photo arrived 4 months later and in poor condition. It looked like it sat in the back of someones car. It had dirty foot prints all over it and was wrinkled in many places. It was bittersweet that my Grandmother was not able to see her last photo. She sadly passed away before the photo arrived. I'm just glad she wasn't able to see the poor quality of a portrait that we all worked so hard to prepare for.

Re: “The Sweet Life Portrait Studio

I have never been so disappointed with a service in my life. I have 4 cats and wanted a portrait with me and them all wearing identical sweaters that I knitted myself. I worked very hard knitting them and wanted my hard work captured in a family portrait. The events leading up to the portrait were precessional and gave the impression that my needs and expectations were ensured to be met. I was wrong. I was way wrong. When we arrived at her studio she snickered and made a snarling remark about how horrible my sweaters looked. After a brief moment of fight back tears I continued on because I didn't want to let my cats down. Especially Mittens. He has been excited the whole week prior. My cats were well behaved and didn't make any fuss at all. It really helped out that 3 of them were stuffed after they passed away 2 years ago. When she took the picture she didn't even tell me to say "cheese."  As a young girl, that was always my favorite part when it came to taking a picture. She took the picture unexpectedly and wouldn't take another without wanting to charge me for an additional photograph. When I got the picture in the mail, I was mortified. Her photoshop skills were lackluster at best. I felt like Mittens could have done better. He was so disappointed when he saw the photograph that he walked away and hit under the bed. Prior to the photograph I asked her to remove a mole that noticeably sits on my face. Not only did she not remove it, but I'm fairly certain she added hairs to it. Circling back to her candid snapshot, Mittens was licking him self and I was in mid-sneeze. Needless to say, I am unhappy and never plan on calling her again.

Re: “The Sweet Life Portrait Studio

I own a local business here in Tucson, and I always try to support the local community and small business. When approached by this studio for work collaborations I figured I would give it a chance. The owner is young, and very unprofessional. Talks about her personal life in less then pleasent ways. Not very reliable as our appointment times had to be changed a few times. I think her quality of work shows promise but I wouldn't jump at the chance to work with this business again.

Re: “The Skybox Restaurant and Sports Bar

No new reviews so i thought I would post one.

Friday has perennial 80's and G. Cover charge and packed. Saturday night ; no cover smaller crowd and sometimes very good bands (Giant Blue, etc). Definitely the night to go. Mixed crowd with many older people looking for hookups (well it's true). Drinks are very reasonable for Foothills, food good. Bartenders are nice and fast

Re: “Avalon Organic Gardens

Incredible would be an acurate assessment, as in no credibility whatsoever! Mycenay (real name Shannon Leigh Plyler) is the head Space Guru's second familiar (#2 spouse) and helps run the labor camp they call home down in Tumacacori AZ. Thier head Space Guru AKA Gabriel of Urantia or Gabriel of Sedona is actually Tony Delevin from Pittsburgh also of NBC Dateline Cult expose fame from when he ran his scam up in Sedona. They make up names for thier members and steal their identities keeping them from contact with former friends and family. Do not let anyone you care about near these people unless you want them to become soulless pseudo hippies devoted to this dangerous space cult. Just Google Urantia Cult or Gabriel of Urantia and find out just how this insidieous operation exists and preys upon the disinfranchised people and lost youth in our community. BE AWARE that they are very powerful and will use every tool at their disposal to get what they want (lawsuit experts). Tony Delevin is very rich and powerful and runs at least 7 corporations in AZ alone, none of which pays any taxes hiding behind the guise of religion. In their own words: BE AWARE!!!

From the ambience, to the friendly staff, to the great food there is nowhere else in Tucson that I enjoy eating more. It is a must hit every time my family is in town!

Re: “Crying Onion Café

Awesome food, haven't had a mediocre meal ever since I started eating there. It's usually packed Sunday late-mornings, so get there early or be ready to wait for a table, it's a small-midsize restaurant.

Best prices for cards. Fun atmosphere. Also, one of the top rated judges presides over the events. Good people. Good times.
