Re: “Panda Buffet and Sushi

Great Sushi for the price. Other hot Chinese dishes are very good as well. China A super Buffet on River road and Stone Road also deserves 5 stars. The new U Like Buffet on Wilmont just south of Broadway is just terrible thou.

Re: “Pho 88

The best pho in town that I've had and we're always treated well. The other dishes that I've tried were also good, which were mostly more Chinese style dishes that tend to work well for our kids.

Re: “HUB Restaurant and Creamery

WORST MANAGEMENT IN TUCSON! THERE ARE BETTER PLACES THAT ACTUALLY WANT YOUR BUSINESS BESIDES HUB!

The evening of my wife and my first visit to Hub started off wonderful. Great drinks, great atmosphere, OK food. I thought this was a place I could spend every Friday night. Hostess was very friendly and waitress was FANTASTIC (don't remember her name but my receipt says "L7" for the name).

Evening went downhill fast when the server dropped my wife's mustard and ketchup covered hot dog on her lap and in the process launched a full cup of ketchup all over me. The ketchup showered me, covering my sweater, shirt, pants. It even went into my hair and went down my collar and all over my neck and face. My wife rushed up to the restroom and the server (who was different from the waitress) casually said, "oh sorry about that I'll get some club soda, and do you need anything else?" obviously not realizing or caring about the ketchup fury he had unleashed upon my evening. I asked for the manager, whose name was Bret. This is where it truly gets bad. As I still wiped the ketchup off my neck and face, I told him that I was covered in ketchup. His response? "It was an accident."

"I understand that but I am just covered witch ketchup," I said still in dismay and shock at the situation. Bret callously repeated "It was just an accident." As he began to walk away he said under his breath, "Your meal will be comped."

I understand accidents happen and everybody has an off night. But what upset me so much was that Manager Bret never once apologized to my wife or I for what had happened. It was my waitress that apologized multiple times and even continued to give us excellent service after the ketchup shower. In fact Bret seemed inconvenienced to even come over and talk to me. It is very sad to me that someone like that is the face of this business. No one should be above apologizing for their own or their staff's mistakes. To top it off, they only comped the hot dog and tiny cup of ice cream my wife had afterward instead of our entire meal. I did not feel entitled to a free meal, but Bret don't tell me you will comp the whole thing and then only comp what was dropped all over us.

I am aware that it was just another busy Friday night for Manager Bret, but for us- his customers- it was our moment to decompress after a long hard week that was ruined. I just wish he would have cared a little bit about the situation. At the end of the night he went home the same as any other night I am sure. But now I have a ruined shirt, sweater and pair of pants and not so much as an apology from Bret.

Doubt I will go back to Hub. Makes me sad because I really wanted to enjoy myself there and add it to my list of go-to places. Food is similar to BJ's Brewhouse and at BJ's at least you can expect better parking and a manager that likes their job and cares about repeat business.

Re: “Gee's Garden

Best dim sum in town. Not $ as advertised. More like $$-$$$. But here, you get more than you pay for.

Re: “T.G.I. Friday's

Got a salad that consisted of finely chopped up lettuce and little else. Not worth the nearly ten dollars I paid.

Re: “Korea House

Spent 3 years in Korea and have eaten Korean food for almost 30 years. This is some of the best. Up there with some of the better San Francisco Korean restaurants.

Re: “RPM Nightclub

I think this is 2 weeks in a row that RPM has had live music listed and both times - no band at all. Last night, no band (I drove cross town to see) and when you call to ask if "there is actually a band tonight" you get a recorded message telling you "the person you are calling is not available." REALLY? Get it together RPM!

Re: “Kampai

I've been to Japan 68 times on business and rate Kampai food as good as anything I have had in Japan...the service is excellent and the prices very reasonable....I eat there at least once every week....

Re: “Café Passé

My favorite place to enjoy a breakfast al fresco. The patio out back features several different outdoor spaces to choose from, all wonderful. The food is fresh and delicious. A full bar in a cafe is a little odd, but not a bad thing for those who want a mimosa or Irish Coffee!

Re: “Lotus Garden Restaurant

I moved here from San Francisco and have had a hard time finding really good Chinese food. BirdsEye frozen vegetables tossed with plain chunks of tofu in a salty brown sauce doesn't do it. I can't believe it took me this long to try Lotus Garden, but it's the real thing--snow peas and carrots were lightly cooked so they were bright and had a bit of snap, the sauce relied on the flavors of its ingredients and not salt for its punch, the tofu was sliced thin and lightly fried for texture and flavor, and the shrimp were huge. My new go-to Chinese place.
