I stopped by yesterday to get some information about the place. Sign at front said use side door. The side door was locked, so I went back to the front door which was open. Appeared empty so I called out and entered anyway. Walked up to the counter and talked with person there. He seemed uninterested in answering any questions and made me feel very unwelcome. I noticed as I walked away, he came out looked around and closed the front door. There were no hours posted, so I thought maybe I entered when they were closed. But, I checked and as it was around 2 pm on Tuesday, they post that they are open during those hours. I'll take my pocket book and go elsewhere.
I had high hopes, based on advertising, but you should become Leary about the quality of the food and venue when they will not mention it anywhere on their advertisement. As soon as a purchased the tickets and they provided information on how to get there, only then did they say it was at the el parador. The food there is absolutely atrocious and the food at the theater was worse, which I didn't think was possible. If you advertise candle lit 3 course meal, I should not be looking forward to a budget banquet frozen TV dinner or taco bell for some type of improvement after the show. The acting was funny, but by no means is the show worth the horrible food (which the actors elude to also). Could not have been more disappointed.
Paula Wittner's fabulous art , wine, interesting people...it was a great way to start the year.
BEWARE of this place. I was billed from the Oro Valley Hospital for a Rancho Vistoso Urgent Care visit. Issued a wristband and told there would be no copay, I should have known something was up.
Billed as OUTPATIENT SERVICES. Over $500 for 10 mins with a nurse. Dr. bills seperately and then you will have a FACILITY charge.
My suggestion is to go down the road to a new URGENT CARE not associated with the hospital. There is one on Oracle (near McGee) in front of Sprouts. I've compained several time to the CEOs office (Jae Dale) and have yet to even get a reply.
I have been to nimus about 4 times each time I go I order the same salad, the chicken pear salad. Each time IT have ordered it ,it has been different. Either it"s chunk chicken or cubed. It no nuts or 4 nuts or a lot . It needs to be the same all the time. Please ask chef to be on point with food
The porter won a gold medal at the Great American Beer fest (best porter in america)....sounds like Reuven needs to wash his palate.
Glad to see most of my friends back. Dance floor still could be bigger and like the long booth along wall. Love the music and atmosphere. Welcome back Eddie!
The guys and I eat breakfast at Mosaic at least once a month. The food is always excellent, the service almost always good, and the beer cold. Most of us have been eating at the Mosaic for decades and will continue to for hopefully many more years. We appreciate the warm greetings we get from the owner and his family. The Mosaic is very much Tucson.
The guys and gals at Station 71 are top-notch and hardworking. It's postively astounding how hard they work and how committed they remain with very little thanks.
Keep up the good work!!!
This was my wife and my first evening out in Tucson and it DID NOT disappoint. Everything written above proved to be true: intimate, excellent service and a bargain. I LOVE, I mean LOVE mussels. Sitting at the bar, a GREAT glass of white, professional wait staff and a steaming, aromatic bowl of mussels was just what a stranger in a strange land required - home. The Rumrunner was also an experience worth revisiting with an excellent selection second to none. The Friday bar special made it all the more affordable. Go, you’l enjoy.
I can not think of a better Med place except an Egyptian joint in Santa Fe. Very generous portions (as it should always be in the mid-east) lovely flavor profiles and yes, the BEST falaffel in town, crunchy on the outside, soft and moist on the inside. AMAZING house-made potatoes. My only complaint would be that the desert cart is almost bare.
My wife and I ate our weight in gelato when we walked our way through Italy. This is the real stuff, held at the right temperature (a critical element in selling gelato) and the flavor profiles are spot on.
Hmmm. Could have been a wonderful experience but too much crammed into too little space. A little too aggressive selling wine and the aisles are a bit narrow. Variety is okay but not everything is of the best quality, i mean c’m if you’re gonna sell truffle oil couldn’t you have chosen a good one?
Meat department shines but all their pork has been brines but if you like spending money on salt water, go for it. BUT, too much of the meat is dry packed disallowing any real butchering or options with regard to fat - the main component of flavor in meat. They try but they just don’t have the goods. Now that there is a REAL Whole Foods in town they will need to pick up their game.
There ARE independent butchers and fishmongers in town that put this place to shame.
Their produce is well waxed and geometrically piled but has very little variety. Where exactly do I find Escarole or Rapini?
Too bad one can not award half stars because it honestly only deserves two and a half from me.
This could have it all. For a lonely boy looking for chile with an ‘e’ this place comes so close. Just not bold enough with the what we New Mexicans need to wake up our old decrepit bodies on a cold winter’s day. Having said that, it’s still the BEST (and maybe ONLY) place for New Mexican food in town. Once you go, you’l never go back to that Sonoran sludge of too much of everything except flavor that’s called Mexican food in Tucson. Yes, totally biased - and spoiled.
It gets all five stars because I can’t think of a competitor. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly without over-reaching. Great selection of wild bird food and garden accoutrements for the feathery folk.
This is a placeholder, for stories that we've run already. Not that complicated.
How do you review a place that hasnt opened?
Wow! Can't believe I've been here this long and only just discovered this little gallery. Wonderful paintings and the prices are terriffic! You can fill a whole house with originals and not break the bank. I'm planning on going every month when the show changes.
Re: “Magical Mystery Dinner Theater”
ZERO STARS!
I got 4 tickets to the Mystery Theater as a gift for my mother. This cost about $200 so I expected quite a lot. When calling into the theater to initially purchase the tickets the man who answered the phone was completely unprofessional and rude. He explained how the evening would go, how wonderful the food would be, how interactive and engaging the how would be etc. but was condescending and impatient with me. He made me feel as if I was wasting his time, but I assumed he was busy, so I went through with the transaction…
When my mother tried to schedule a time to go to the show she was treated very poorly. She called in and booked a Saturday night, but immediately remembered that she had a prior commitment, so called them back within MINUTES. The man almost REFUSED to let her change days! She wanted to change to the Friday and he said she could not and that it was too late to do so! She had literally just spoken to him. He finally agreed to allow her to change days but made her feel bad about it. I was in the room and immediately became really worried about how her evening would play out…
When I next saw my mother I asked how the evening went- she just groaned! Horrible food (NOT what was promised when I made the ticket purchase). NO interaction from the people on stage with the audience (I was told that the staff would drop of clues at the table while the dinner was being served and that the entire evening would be highly interactive). The show was tacky, boring and not funny. My mother said at the end they simply gave the audience a piece of paper and said, “Read this and write your answers down and don’t forget to give us a tip.” Wow! All 3 of her friends were completely appalled by the show and staff.
I am so disappointed that I wasted so much money on this gift and even more disappointed that my mother and her friends had an awful time. PLEASE DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS BUSINESS! Spend your money at the Gaslight Theater instead- friendly staff and a great show, every time!
