Mount Lemmon (general)

Readers Pick

The 24-mile, two-lane blacktop road through the Santa Catalina Mountains to Mount Lemmon provides access to year-round camping for outdoor lovers. The U.S. Forest Service maintains easily accessible campgrounds ranging from Molino Basin, barely above the saguaros, to the pine trees of Rose Canyon. In addition to a campground, Rose Canyon has a small manmade lake where small children can learn to fish. Campsites typically include parking, a flat area for the tent, a picnic table and a raised metal grill. Many are adjacent to trails. Pick a lower elevation in colder weather, and higher elevations in warmer weather, for great experiences in one of Southern Arizona's Sky Islands.
