Re: “The Skinny

I'll bet if they did a background check on Flake we would find out that he was a cereal.

Re: “A Rather F—king Timely Note on Swearing

"Fuck" is useful as virtually every article of speech. It's got punch, a nice rhythm, sets up other words well and generally is a very important part of modern speech. The more it's used the more it becomes somewhat desensitized and "acceptable" in general, but it will probably always retain enough shock value to be effective, I think.

So, fuck yeah, use it liberally.

Re: “TV Ad Hammers Flake on Background Checks

Had Senator Flake supported the bad idea of a background check as proposed in the deeply flawed Senate Bill, he would have done a great disservice. I, for one, view this ad by the Bloombergs of our country, as proof positive that our senator is doing his job.

Keep the faith Jeff and keep doing what is right for America and Arizona.

Profane (profanity et al) from the Latin that which is against the sacred, blasphemy, heresy. Before we can agree on what is profane we must agree on what is sacred. By demanding all speech bow to your vision of sacred you chose to elevate your God to preeminence over all other veiws of religion, establishing a state religion and banning speech against your Gods. For the sake of my view on the 1st amendment please keep your god off of my fucking tongue.

Re: “TV Ad Hammers Flake on Background Checks

Sorry to disagree, but Mr. Kelly's name does not appear in this add. What is clearly stated is that Mr. Flake wrote a reply to this family stating he supports background checks and then broke his word and voted no. I think this makes him the liar.

Re: “McCain Opposes Filibuster on Universal Background Checks

Ken Rineer, Aren't there any number of industrialized countries where firearms are severely restricted, and even prohibited that are fully functioning democracies? What are the "better policing tactics" that you are referring to?

How can we restrict firearms from criminals, when we have no way to regulate the flow of these firearms to the criminals? If we had a registry, and it included every firearm sale, as weapons are used in crimes we could very quickly identify the sources providing those weapons. Due to the incredible power of the NRA we cannot even use federal funds to research gun crimes.....given the phenomenal numbers of injuries and deaths every year, of Americans, from literally babies killing babies, to every conceivable part of American society, year after year, shouldn't we be at least researching the problem?

I am a lifelong gun owner, honorably discharged US Army veteran, father, and grandfather, and I don't want my loved ones harmed by some fool who should not have a gun.

It just seem to me that we need to do something different than what we have been doing. Listening to the La Pierres screaming 2d Amendment every time someone says stop killing our kids, has finally made me sick enough to stop and think about this. Guns don't kill people..but people would not be killing as many people if they did not have the guns...that is simple logic.

So how do we stop this carnage? I don't know that, but I do know that using the same tired logic that got us to this point is not working, and will not work.

Re: “TV Ad Hammers Flake on Background Checks

These are feel good attacks that help Mark Kelly keep his name alive for his politcal future. It's cheap and theatrical. A back ground check would not have stopped ANY of the mass shootings in the last 10 years. Lets fix the real problems, making it easier for parents, families, judges and police to have others mental health isses checked.. BUT no we dont't want to do that. Mark Kelly, you are a joke and a walking piece of garbage. Using your wife's horrible shooting as stepping stone for you. Gutless Mark, pure gutless. You're a coward Mark, a true political American COWARD.

Re: “The Folks at Amy's Baking Company In Scottsdale Have Gone Insane [Update: They Were 'Hacked']

misrepresenting, there is a difference between what is legal and what is right. I don't dispute that they should not be keeping the tips (or they need to notify customers what they do) and it is NOT right.

The question is whether what they are doing is illegal, as has been claimed here. I would love to have someone who has eaten there post a receipt so we can see who it says your server was. Remember that Samy was entering all the orders into the POS system by himself. What are the odds that the receipt has the correct server's name on it? I know that Mario Batali was fined millions of dollars by NY last year for sharing his server's tips with other staff. But that was a MUCH different situation. Those servers were considered tipped employees. ABC is paying a full wage that does not rely on tips to get minimum wage. That may exempt them from any problems that ensue from not giving the tips to the employees. Also think of this -- they've gone through 100+ employees (many/most of whom likely left under bad circumstances). You don't think that at least one of them went to the state labor department to ask them to investigate this?

Minimum wage in AZ is $7.80 if you don't make tips, and $4.80 if you do.

Re: “The Folks at Amy's Baking Company In Scottsdale Have Gone Insane [Update: They Were 'Hacked']

MisterBill, if your employer took your money, you would likely consider it theft. Most folks consider theft to be illegal - even when an employer in a right-to-work state considers it their right. Based on experience, it's doubtful AZ DOL will possess the willingness to provide justice for the staff. The servers will probably have to get used to it or move on. When AZ employers hire the right lawyers they tend to do whatever they want, no matter how outrageous the conduct to staff and customers. see "Heated Environment"

Re: “The Amy's Baking Company Saga Is Only Going to Get Weirder

This is Arizona, where employer knows they can get away with almost any amount of dishonesty or abuse towards a customer or employee. No legal protections will apply, just ask Michelle M. "Heated Environment" - http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tucson/heated-environment/Content?oid=3643260
