Re: “Noshing Around

That "easy-to-use interface" won't be necessary, as there are only five Tucson restaurants participating in Restaurant Week, Blanco, Firebirds, North, Melting Pot and Wildfire.

Re: “Nine on The Line

4th Ave Deli is a favorite of mine. Shark And his crew take a lot of pride in the quality and presentation of their food.

Re: “The Fantastic Fox

The Hungry Fox is a great place to eat although I don't eat there as often since Marlene sold the place. I used to eat there every day in the 80s when the Hilmars owned it and both of my children used to work there. My son was a dishwasher there for almost five years till he got out of school and my daughter was a hostess until she went off to college. It no noisier than most other places in Tucson because everywhere you go, you have retirees as they are the heart and soul of the city. They can be annoying but you came to eat, not worry about everyone else.

Re: “Juice and Stuff

The volume of a sandwich or dish vs. its price became an issue when the first restaurant or pub opened for business, Flapster-the article said nothing about volume affecting taste. And if I shell out near $40 for a breakfast for two, you can bet I'd cast a jaded eye on miniscule portions at that price point! I, for one, thank the writer for the heads-up to Tucson diners.

Re: “Juice and Stuff

since when does the volume of a sandwich or dish have ANYthing to do with it tasting good?? Answer when inarticulate reviewers use innocuous details in a review

Re: “Treats With a Twist

Been a favorite for a long time, nice to see a good review. I thought they served all kinds of booze cocktails though?

Tootsie pops will take out a crown. So will Starburst and Beyond Bread bread.

Re: “Old-School Ambience

I have never really been one to order meat loaf when there is salmon and steak on the menu. But one night at Cushing Street I was feeling adventurous and MAN - I kid you not - the absolute BEST meat loaf of all time! NOT to be missed! They drizzle it in a maple glaze and it is wonderful. I love this place.

Re: “Noshing Around

El Herradero is horrible!! Rude employees, first of all. If you speak only English (this IS the US), plan on being treated poorly. If you don't look latino, also expect to be treated poorly. MAYBE I could deal with that, but I cannot deal with flies in the meat and cheese display cases. There are also flies in that little bakery case, too. I'd say, just don't bother. I live near the new Eastside carneceria. Haven't tried it yet, but I plan to soon. Hope it is much better than the previously mentioned market.

Here's more restaurant altruism - Dine Out for Greyhound Adoption - August 19 at Feast Restaurant. Feast will give back 20% when you present a flyer. Southern Arizona Greyhound Adoption (SA Greys) has paid $65,000 to fix broken legs and extraordinary injuries from dogs leaving the track - please support their efforts - http://blog.sagreyhoundadoption.org/2014/0…

Re: “Breakfast and Chinese and Thai, Oh My!

This place is owned by a friend of a friend and I have eaten there many times. It seems to suffer from a Jekyll and Hyde sort of syndrome, when it's good, it's really good and when it's bad it's really bad. I was there the morning when the owner was testing the breakfast pizza. He went around to every table and gave us all a taste. That's how you sell a new item! I don't know if it's still on the menu, but ask for the chicken-fried bacon, you won't regret it. The service has been kind of hit or miss as well, but the employee turnover seems to be kinda high, maybe once they have a longer tenured staff thing will get better.

Re: “The Fantastic Fox

The only thing I don't like about these places is that they are full of retired people (I'm retired) who have to push three tables together and "hold court" every morning, making a bunch of noise, howling and laughing four times louder than they have to. It's annoying as hell.
