Re: “Live

I guess that some folks just wont "get it", which is fine of course. What is less ok is the misrepresentation RE fascist overtones etc though.

Re: “Almost Famous

Thanks for the memories and revelations. I, too, was raised on Creem. I first saw Gentlemen Afterdark in 1983 at UofA's Louie's Lower Level. I loved every minute of it and was quite intrigued. I still remember some of your song lyrics!

Re: “Almost Famous

Brian, hope the show went well. I would have loved to be there. Good to know you are still kickin"! I always felt that there should have been a thicker pad on that ceiling corner over the stage at the Jar. I miss your shows.
Still free in Poway,
Jim

Re: “Almost Famous

We could have crossed paths so many times and we never did. Amazing story. My favorite line:
Being in Gentlemen Afterdark showed me how easy it was to confuse insecurity with self-belief.

Re: “Weird Al: Parody Pastor

Weird Al rules! Here is a guy that has taken some of the shittiest songs known to man and improved them tenfold by his unique and intelligent approach to them. He has also taken a few songs that didn't suck (for example "Smells Like Teen Spirit" & his kick ass tribute to the Stones in the medley "The Rolling Stones Polka") and made them cool as well in his own right. Let's all hope he lives to be 150 years old and is still spry enough to tour!

Re: “B-Sides: Ryan Chavira

Good music from a good dude and it's not adult contemporary! Here's to music that doesn't sound like its from Tucson.

Re: “Get a Grip: Death Grips

This is the worst review of an upcoming show I've ever read. You seem to have a problem with DG that centers around them being elusive and on their own page, for better or worse. Why that's a negative thing in your eyes I don't really get. But more importantly, whether you love them or hate them--and it'll be one or the other with these guys--this is an article about an upcoming show that some people would likely have attended if you had just given more information about the band and not badmouthed them for subjective reasons.

They showed up. They played for 75 minutes of nonstop fury. They brought it. Enough said. You lose.

Shoot. Is Timmothy's comment going to have 10-12 dislikes?

Re: “Top Tucson Albums of 2015 ... So Far

I'm sure the 10 or 12 people who actually purchase and listen to these "albums" will enjoy them.
