Gov. Jan Brewer Won't Seek Third Term

Jan Brewer has decided not to seek an additional term as governor of Arizona. Technically, the 69 year-old Republican was only elected once since she assumed the role when former Gov. Janet Napolitano agreed to serve as President Obama's secretary of homeland security in 2009. "While I will no longer be governor after this year, I will remain a proud cheerleader and champion for this awesome state that I love," Brewer tweeted.

"There comes a time to pass the torch of leadership, so after completing this term in office, I will be doing just that," Brewer told a crowd Wednesday morning at the Park Meadows Elementary School in Glendale, Ariz..

"I will continue to champion and cheer Arizona from the sidelines," she added.

Brewer plans to help her fellow like minded GOP candidates and speak out on issues important to her:

“I’m not going away,” she said. “I’m going to participate, I’m going to speak out on issues that I believe that are important.”

“I don’t have a million-plus bucks sitting around not to do anything with it,” she said. That includes money she has raised both for Jan PAC, which can be used to elect candidates for president and congressional offices, as well as her Arizona’s Legacy PAC, which she is spreading around to elect like-minded Republicans to the Legislature.
