Pharrell Williams' 24-Hour Music Video Is the Perfect Song For A Rainy Friday Afternoon

Posted By on Fri, Nov 22, 2013 at 4:30 PM

Pharrell Williams, more recently famous for his production on Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" and Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" is looking to make your day just a bit brighter, with a bright, dance-filled 24 hour music video for his latest song, "Happy."

The music video is, in truth, 24 hours of clips of people dancing to his entry on the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, but it's so damn cheerful that it's difficult to be upset with it. I mean, I'm on my fourth listen of the song, but I'm still bobbing my head and singing along to it, and not in a Stockholm Syndrome-y way...though if this is all part of Pharrell's plan to hypnotically suggest Western civilization into doing his bidding, this is absolutely one of the more pleasant ways to go about it.

It doesn't hurt that, at the moment, I'm watching as Williams dances and lip-syncs to his own song in an L.A.-area grocery store, filling a cart and serenading a teddy bear — apparently, you'll also see other celebrities, such as Magic Johnson and Steve Martin, in their own segments along the 24 hour selection of clips.

There are four-hour blocks on YouTube under Williams' iamOTHER YouTube channel, though most all of them appear to be unlisted; the one below is the only one that's been widely released, thus far.

Seriously, spend a few minutes today watching the video and listening to "Happy" — just don't be surprised if that few minutes turns into the rest of the afternoon.
