In Tucson, we complain about the heat every summer even when we know that come July, it will be hot. We live in the Sonoran Desert. We live in Tucson. During the summer it’s hot. That’s the way it is always going to be.
But this NSFW video making its way through the internets captures the internal conversations we have with ourselves every summer. In Moldy Pueblo speak, that’s “I am not a lizard” (and while wiping sweat from our necks while watching a band at Club Congress: “Why do I live in Tucson? Why did I leave my house tonight?”).
This article appears in Jul 4-10, 2013.

THis is supposed to be funny? And no, it does not “Echo the thoughts of every Tucsonan”.
It IS funny. Echos my thoughts perfectly.
Haha I thought it was hilarious, preach on sista!
Exactly how I sound every day on my drive home from work!!!
Jack, get over yourself dude. That was hysterical. I hope this woman has an agent cause she is comedy gold!
Jack, I’m a cut-and-dried (literally, I suppose) desert rat who feels like summer isn’t complete until it feels like everything around me should have combusted and will regularly drive around in his car with the A/C off, and this is funny as hell to me.
Different strokes, I guess.
I swear if I hear “but its a dry heat” from one more MFin transplant I’m gonna punch someone! So is my effin oven, but I don’t go crawl in there now do I?! When you step outside and feel like you’re in some bad vampire movie and your flesh is burning off as you wither and die right there in the driveway, it is too goshdamn hot. Have you noticed that we all get darker in the summer? That’s not a tan guys, it’s charred skin.
That foul mouthed B…h should go back home, or take a shower and stand in fron of fan, or go to a mall, or just go ahead and melt. Tucgirl…IT IS A DRY HEAT most of the time, don’t think so, go to Mississippi about now…LOL! I remember when it ALWAYS got above 110-115, we didn’t whine about it, and what about the people who work out in this…these men are MEN!
Tucson was a lot better when the Mobsters were here, now we have these LibDem weenies who are screwing everything up, almost beyond repair.
Tucson Native…I remember when Wilmot and Speedway was “Dirt”.
It’s comedy folks! Get a sense of humor! We all remember hot days way back when when all we had to cool us was swamp coolers and finding shade under a sparsely leaved cottonwood. It still doesn’t change how miserable we feel in the moment that we are having to endure the heat. We also don’t like the feeling of being too cold. As humans we have ideal temperatures and when our environment goes beyond those ideal temperatures we do not feel great. This hilarious woman is just bold enough to make us laugh about it.
That is the funniest video I’ve seen for a long time. The lady should receive an Academy and go on tour.
I loved this. I am a liberal transplant from the Midwest. I know humidity too well and it isn’t the heat, it’s the humidity. I don’t get how liberals screwed everything up from Wilmont and Speedway being dirt. Most cities with positive potential culturally, economically, and otherwise are sprawling especially if there is economic growth. When one reads about cities in atrophy, that’s not good either….and BTW what has that got to do w/Mobsters and heat waves, or for that matter, logic? Buckwheat? Please, it is 2013 and I find that offensive. This woman is funny, smart and sassy and happens to be black….I think that is a cocktail that some people happen to have difficulty swallowing.
Hilarious! That’s exactly how I felt when I lived in Tucson for 25 years. I’m outa there. 🙂
I’m not a goddam toucan! Ha ha!!
I have lived here over 33 years, and I love the heat!
