I thought we talked about this, Arizona Daily Star. Don’t you remember the day you ignored a good, local story for the opportunity to plug Subway sandwiches?

Sure, at least this time you’re not shuffling off information about good, local people for this marginally interesting press release, but did it really have to be for yet another nationally known chain restaurant and their most well-known (and thus, least-interesting) food option?

Tut-tut, Star. Tut-tut.

  1. Oh wow! I love panda express. Orange chicken is the greatest!! its so authentically asian, and the ingredients are so fresh!!! plus you get the option of noodles OR rice!!!

I hope the editor of the Caliente chokes on my barf from being exposed to this crap.

  2. I don’t understand why neither you nor the Star has acknowledged the existence, much less reviewed, Sweet Peas Asian Bistro on Craycroft south of 22nd St.

It seems that all of your vibe is about resort restaurants that should be paying to promote their outrageously expensive events. Remember the average reader of your paper doesn’t have high income salaries and is not on an expense account to be able to afford these high priced events. Give us news about reasonably priced family run restaurants!

  3. By the way, I do recognize that Panda Express is not a high end restaurant, but it is one that can afford its own publicity even if it is publicity to give us freebies. I was just taking advantage of an opportunity to make a statement. Thanks.

  4. Tucdan: I’m not sure you’re reading our paper if you think we only cover resort restaurants. We reviewed the new Thunder Canyon this week and the last vaguely high end place we featured was Poca Cosa on Apr. 11. Did you see our 100 Essential Dishes feature (http://www.tucsonweekly.com/tucson/tucsons… Honestly, we spend far, far more time covering affordable places than anything else. I’ll make a note that we need to get to Sweet Peas, however. I drive by that place all the time, but keep forgetting to add it to the list of places we’ve missed.

  5. + 10 Dan Gibson…

I would NEVER think the weekly only covers resort eating, but then again, I actually pay attention.
