John Huppenthal Shows Up for a Hug

Posted by on Tue, Nov 6, 2012 at 10:17 PM

GOP Fiesta update: John Huppenthal is in the house and as he walked in he immediately went straight for Jonathan Paton with a big congratulatory hug. Perhaps Huppenthal was hoping to congratulate Mark Stegeman for being in the top three in the Tucson Unified School District governing board race, along with Kristel Foster and Cam Juarez.

Also in the house: Arizona Daily Independent blogger Loretta Hunnicutt and her husband, John Hunnicutt — Stegeman's fellow TUSD governing board candidate. Morgan Toone, a UA journalism student working with the Weekly tonight, asked Hunnicutt how he was feeling about the race and he said, "I don't feel very good about it. It didn't go the way we wanted it to go."

Before she could ask her next question, he told her he couldn't talk and that he had to go — but he didn't actually go anywhere.
