Democratic Party at the Marriot: What Would People Do If Romney Wins?

Posted on Tue, Nov 6, 2012 at 8:02 PM

Lately, I've heard more and more people say that they would go as far as leaving the country if Romney wins. I thought I would walk around the room and ask people what they would do if Romney actually became our president, hoping to hear crazy responses and elaborate plots on how to kick him out from the White House. But I was surprised to hear sane answers.

Everyone seemed to agree with staying in the country and becoming more active politically, whether joining social justice organizations or protesting on the streets. Adam Metzger, who to my surprise is 16 years old, said a lot of his friends are activitists in the LGBT community, and if Romney wins he plans to become more involved with LGBT rights, despite not being old enough to vote. Jeff Wortzel and David Plotkin, both in their 30s, also said they would become more involved with activism, hoping to reach the ears of the federal government and promote changes within the issues that are most important to them: LGBT, the economy, and women's rights.

Yup, staying in the country is probably the best choice, as much as we would hate seeing Romney in the White House. Better to stick around and fight for change, than to emigrate and bitch without moving a finger.

What would you do if Romney won? If you plan to move, please speak up!
