More Gabby Mercer Gems

Posted By on Tue, Oct 9, 2012 at 9:00 AM

Just when you think Gaby Mercer didn't have more gems to share with us, there's always her Facebook page:

“And yet another one of our finest Border Patrol Agent is murdered by illegals and one seriously wounded. And some people don't want me to talk about the wide open borders in Arizona?”

Immigrant rights activist Carlos Galindo sent this one out yesterday with the following press release:

NBC IS NOW REPORTING THAT THE TRAGIC INCIDENT THAT TOOK THE BORDER PATROL AGENT’S LIFE WAS FROM FRIENDLY FIRE. OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY OF NICHOLAS IVIE. WE FULLY SUPPORT AND UNDERSTAND THE DIFFICULTY INVOLVED IN OUR BORDER PATROL OFFICER’S DUTIES.

GABRIELA SAUCEDO MERCER’S COMMENTS ARE OFFENSIVE TO THE IMMIGRANT COMMUNITY AND CREATE FURTHER RESENTMENT ALREADY FESTERING AGAINST IMMIGRANTS IN A VERY POLARIZED ARIZONA. WE HAVE SEEN AT LEAST TWO DEATHS OF LATINOS AT THE HANDS OF ANTI-IMMIGRANTS IN ARIZONA. BRISENIA FLORES IN ARIVACA ARIZONA, AND JUAN VARELA IN PHOENIX ARIZONA.

CANDIDATE SAUCEDO MERCER’S IRRESPONSIBLE COMMENT TO FURTHER HER POLITICAL CAREER IS EXACTLY WHAT ARIZONA DOES NOT NEED AND SIMPLY SERVES TO FURTHER DRIVE A WEDGE BETWEEN THE LATINO COMMUNITY AND OTHER RESIDENTS IN ARIZONA.

Want more Mercer theater? You can catch another debate between her and Congressman Raul Grijalva tonight at Pima Community College's West Campus in the Proscenium Theater at 2202 West Anklam Road, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The debate, sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Greater Tucson, also includes other Grijalva challenger Libertarian candidate Blanca Guerra.
