Ron Barber: Running For Congressional District 2 Seat in the Fall

Posted By on Mon, Mar 19, 2012 at 2:06 PM

Democrat Ron Barber, the longtime aide to former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords who is already seeking to complete her term in Congressional District 8, just announced on a conference call that he'll also be seeking to run in Congressional District 2 later this year.

"I have made a decision that I'm going to run for Congressional District 2," Barber said.

Barber's plans will upend the plans of several over local Democrats—including state Reps. Steve Farley and Matt Heinz and state Sen. Paula Aboud—who had already announced their plans to seek the CD2 seat in the fall, but had pledged their support to Barber in the June 12 special election for CD8.

Details to follow.
