Bob Westerman Considering AZ House of Reps Campaign In New LD11

Republican Bob Westerman, the former chairman of the Pima County Republican Party, is considering a run for the Arizona House of Representatives in the new Legislative District 11.

LD11, which includes Oro Valley, SaddleBrooke, the town of Maricopa and part of Casa Grande, is safe GOP territory; the GOP holds an 11-point voter-registration advantage over Democrats.

As we've reported earlier, LD 26 Sen. Al Melvin of SaddleBrooke and Sen. Steve Smith of Maricopa both got drawn into the district. Melvin has said he won't step down to the House and we've yet to see whether Smith will challenge Atomic Al for the Senate seat or run for the House seat. Republican Adam Kwasman, who managed Jesse Kelly's unsuccessful 2010 congressional campaign, is running for one of those House seats.

Bob Westerman has formed an exploratory campaign committee for Arizona State Representative in the newly proposed Legislative District 11. The new LD 11 will be representing Marana, Oro Valley, City of Maricopa, western Casa Grande, Catalina, Arizona City, and Saddlebrook. Bob is a former Chairman of the Pima County Republican Party and a Precinct and State Committeeman.

A veteran, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force and later in the U.S. Air Force Reserve as aircrew with air rescue. While living in California he served as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Los Angeles County and named Reserve Deputy Sheriff of the Year in 1992. He’s been married 40 years with two children and two grandchildren. Bob’s been a resident of Arizona for 19 years.

Bob has over 37 years in the aerospace industry. His experience working with hundreds of businesses from small to major corporations both domestic and international will give the Arizona Legislature the experience it needs to attract business and keep jobs. Bob is making Arizona’s economic future one of his top priorities along with Arizona’s education and healthcare systems.
