Help Some Local Musicians Get Their Stuff Back

Posted by Dan Gibson on Mon, Dec 19, 2011 at 10:00 AM

Keep an eye out, Tucsonans, and help some of Tucson's best musicians retrieve their instruments from the hands of thieves.

From Gabriel Sulllivan's Facebook page:

My van was broken into Saturday night on 15th st. between 6th ave and Stone. My guitar, Brian Lopez's guitar, and Geoffrey Hidalgo's bass were stolen. They were....

-Airline Town & Country DLX electric guitar. Tan color with black pickguards and a lot of tone/volume knobs.

-Gibson Les Paul Standard electric guitar. Cherry sunburst finish. There is a crack in the back of the headstock and green glow paint stained on the back of the guitar.

-Fender Precision electric bass. Black with black pickguard.

So. uh. Yeah. Keep an eye out.

"Best" musicians is a bit hyperbolic. Gabe is a huge asshole as a person and I find his croony "western fauxhemian Nick Cave wannabe" vibe to be annoying at its best.

Suck his gear got stolen though.

Some years back, when we were in New Mexico, Nathan Sabatino, Ryan Eggleston and I had some gear stolen from a bar that was broken into. Nathan's bass, Ryan's guitar, another fellow's guitar, and the bar's PA system, with some other odds and ends. And I'll be damned if a few weeks later the stuff didn't turn up in an El Paso pawnshop. I had to go to El Paso and appear in court to identify our stuff, and the bar's stuff; but after the truly inept thief was convicted, I got a call from the Sheriff's office to come pick up all the goods. I've still got the evidence sticker on the PA head. So good luck, guys, sometimes it does come back.
